Russian President Vladimir Putin won’t join the chorus of global leaders congratulating Donald Trump on his historic election win, his spokesman stating U.S.-Russian relations are “at their lowest point in history”. Political leaders from across Europe sent letters of congratulations to once and future President Donald Trump on Wednesday, some out of a sense of genuine pleasure and others in a bid at damage control, but the Kremlin says President Vladimir Putin takes no pleasure from the news. Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told domestic press on Wednesday that he was not aware that Putin had any plans to offer congratulations, remarking: “Let’s not forget that we are talking about an unfriendly country

Putin is in serious trouble. His army has gotten thrashed in Ukraine with huge casualties, and the Russian economy is in bad condition. Putin made a foolish mistake going into Ukraine. And the Democrats were fools to poke the Russian bear with NATO threats, and biolabs. The Russian and Ukrainian people have been devastated by Putin, and Democrat Party interference in Ukraine. What an unnecessary mess!

I fully expect President Trump will send negotiate a truce between Russia and Ukraine; Ukraine will give up some land to stop the war. You have to give a man who has no regard for human life 'something' so he can 'save face'. and the U.S. will offer some economic niceties to bolster the deal, like trading with the U.S. again.

A federal judge has struck down a Biden administration program for illegal aliens who are married to US citizens. In a three-paragraph decision, Federal District Judge for the Eastern District of Texas J. Campbell Barker (a Trump appointee, and yes, that does make a difference) ruled that the program the administration rolled out in June 2024 "lack statuary authority under 8 U. S. C. § 11821(d)(5)(A) itself (as opposed to under other provisions modifying or supplementing that authority) to grant parole "in place" to aliens" under the benign-sounding "Keeping Families Together" program. The "Keeping Families Program" was challenged by Texas and a coalition of 15 other states soon after its announcement,

Failed Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris lost running mate Tim Walz’s home county in rural Minnesota to Donald Trump, a defeat that will intensify criticism of her decision to run alongside Minnesota’s progressive governor. Trump won Minnesota’s Blue Earth County 49.6 percent to 48.3 percent, a 5.7 percent shift rightward from four years ago, despite Walz having lived there for two decades and launching his political career in the area. Overall, Harris won Minnesota 51.1 percent to 46.8 percent, an underwhelming performance in a state that gave President Joe Biden 52.4 percent of the vote four years ago compared to Trump’s 45.3 percent. By the time Minnesota was called

The White House plans to rush billions of dollars in security assistance to Ukraine before President Joe Biden leaves office in January, sources said on Wednesday, hoping to shore up the government in Kyiv before President-elect Donald Trump's Jan. 20 inauguration. "The administration plans to push forward ... to put Ukraine in the strongest position possible" a senior administration official said on condition of anonymity, before its term ends in January. Trump has been critical of Biden's assistance for Ukraine, fueling concern about the future of support for President Volodomyr Zelenskiy's government under a Republican-controlled White House, Senate and possibly the House of Representatives.

The event created a veneer of enthusiasm and hope for strong turnout in the blue bastion. On Tuesday, Democrats were left wondering what went wrong. As it turns out, turnout was the lowest Harris County has seen in more than 20 years — just 58% — 10 points lower than the last presidential election in 2020. With a dearth of Democratic motivation, Republicans gained ground.
