A second attempt by government unions to block the firing of government employees by the Trump administration has failed. A federal judge in Washington concluded that the unions did not have standing in the case.
A federal judge on Thursday declined to issue a temporary restraining order pausing President Donald Trump’s moves to fire thousands of employees who are on probationary status or deemed nonessential, clearing a roadblock for the new administration as it attempts sweeping changes to downsize the federal government.

Although Hamas claimed that the four bodies released to Israel on Thursday included Shiri Bibas and her two young children Ariel and Kfir, an Israeli forensics team announced late on Thursday evening that the body believed to be Shiri’s was not, in fact, Shiri Bibas.
Specialists at Abu Kabir Forensic Institute determined that Ariel and Kfir were “brutally murdered by terrorists” in November 2023, and that “the additional body received” was not Shiri’s. The specialist confirmed the identities of Ariel, Kfir, and Oded Lifshitz, a retired journalist.
“No match was found for any other hostage. This is an anonymous, unidentified body,”

The captain of a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier that slammed into a ship near Egypt last week was yanked from the position “due to a loss of confidence in his ability,” the US Navy said Thursday.
Capt. Dave Snowden was “relieved” of his job at the helm of the USS Harry S. Truman and temporarily reassigned following the wild Feb. 12 crash in the Mediterranean Sea, according to the military branch.
“The U.S. Navy holds commanding officers to the highest standard and takes action to hold them accountable when those standards are not met,” the Navy said in a statement. Snowden was replaced by Capt. Christopher Hill, and temporarily

Vice President JD Vance apparently isn’t interested in nostalgic history lessons — especially when they’re used to attack President Donald Trump’s stance on Ukraine.
Early on Thursday morning, pro-Trump conservative historian Niall Ferguson provoked Vance’s anger by invoking former President George H.W. Bush’s famous condemnation of Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein’s invasion of Kuwait in 1990 to criticize the Trump administration’s current approach to Ukraine.
Trump hardened his stance on Ukraine this week in a pivot that saw the country excluded from initial peace negotiations between the U.S. and Russia in Saudi Arabia. Criticism of Ukraine’s exclusion from the talks climaxed in the president branding Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy

See how much of this you can stomach. I managed to get through a full minute before shutting in down in disgust, but this Hamas rally using hostages and hostage bodies must be seen to be believed: Here's a briefer look at the coffins: Trump may have seen enough, too. Reportedly, he told his advisors that the US and Israel need to take off the gloves: So far, there hasn't been any confirmation of those remarks, so take this report with a grain of salt for now. It's not too difficult to believe, though, that Trump said that in response to this flagrant defiance from Hamas and the humiliation

New York Governor Kathy Hochul is set to announce Thursday afternoon that she will not remove embattled New York City Mayor Eric Adams from office "right now," according to a source familiar with the situation.
But Hochul plans to impose strict "guardrails" on her fellow Democrat's administration, the source said. Hochul has scheduled a 4 p.m. ET news conference to discuss her decision about Adams, who was indicted last year on federal criminal corruption charges.
The governor on Tuesday held a series of meetings with political figures to discuss Adams' fate.

Senator Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.), the longest-serving Senate party leader in U.S. history, announced on Thursday he will not be seeking reelection in 2026.
McConnell intends to serve the remainder of his term, which ends in January 2027. The former Senate minority leader announced the news on his 83rd birthday.
“Seven times, my fellow Kentuckians have sent me to the Senate,” McConnell said in prepared remarks on the Senate floor. “Every day in between I’ve been humbled by the trust they’ve placed in me to do their business here. A federal appeals court in San Francisco denied the Trump administration’s request to reinstate a ban on birthright citizenship.
Donald Trump signed an executive order on his first day in office that ordered an end to birthright citizenship for children for whom neither parent is a US citizen or legal permanent resident. Birthright citizenship is guaranteed by the 14th amendment to the constitution. Civil rights groups argue an end to birthright citizenship would create a “permanent underclass” of stateless people denied basic protections.

Hamas terrorists created a deranged public spectacle to mark the release of the bodies of four slain Israelis, including Shiri Bibas and her two young children Ariel and Kfir, in the first transfer of dead hostages since the cease-fire deal with Hamas went into effect last month.
Hamas handed over the bodies of the three Bibas family members and Oded Lifshitz, a retired journalist, on Thursday. An Israeli forensics team must still confirm the identities of the four dead hostages, which could take up to 48 hours.

Even as the investigation continues into the terrifying crash that happened Monday involving a Delta jet at Toronto's Pearson Airport, Democrats and the mainstream media think they've already found the culprits: President Donald Trump and the Elon Musk-led Dept. of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
As we reported earlier, Sen. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) in particular has been doubling and tripling down on his (false) claims that the "cuts" that have been made in FAA staffing led to the Monday incident in which the plane landed awkwardly in bad weather, lost one of its wings, and rolled to an upside down position.

At a time when the Trump administration is taking actions of world-historical importance, America’s Democrats are launching the lamest attacks imaginable.
Thus, soon after President Trump’s inauguration a memo evidently went out to Democrats in the press to blame the president for the high price of eggs. It started in January, when average prices for December–prior to Trump’s inauguration!–were reported. And it has continued non-stop. The reason for the high price of eggs is obvious: supply and demand, driven by the loss of huge numbers of chickens due to avian flu. And pretty much all of the increase

President Donald Trump is posting strong approval ratings four weeks into his administration, according to several polls released Tuesday and Wednesday.
An Economist-YouGov poll published on Wednesday shows that Trump has a plus five percent net rating among 1,603 U.S. adults. Of the respondents, 50 percent approve of Trump’s performance thus far, including 32 percent who “strongly approve.” Conversely, 45 percent of respondents disapprove of his performance, while five percent do not have an opinion. Of the overall sample, 37 percent “strongly disapprove” of Trump.
Half of the 1,451 registered voters included in the sample said Trump has their approval, while 47 percent said the opposite.
