Appeals court denies Trump’s plea to

A federal appeals court in San Francisco denied the Trump administration’s request to reinstate a ban on birthright citizenship. Donald Trump signed an executive order on his first day in office that ordered an end to birthright citizenship for children for whom neither parent is a US citizen or legal permanent resident. Birthright citizenship is guaranteed by the 14th amendment to the constitution. Civil rights groups argue an end to birthright citizenship would create a “permanent underclass” of stateless people denied basic protections. The appeals court denied the administration’s request for an emergency appeal

Birthright citizenship is not guaranteed by the 14th Amendment. If it does why did it take a later act of Congress to grant citizenship to the Indians?

This is for the SCOTUS. The article falsely claims the XIV Amendment guarantees birthright citizenship. It does no such thing. The 1898 case where the court accepted a Chinese boy’s claim, it was made clear that the deciding reason was the fact that his parents were permanently settled in California and owed full allegiance to the US.

The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, the appeals court most often overturned by the Supreme Court and written up by the socialist Guardian, so what do you expect. The clause “under the jurisdiction of the USA” contained in the 14th Amendment was put in there for a reason, and it will be up to the Supreme Court to legally define what that clause means.

If birthright citizenship is the law of the land, despite the meaning of "under the jurisdiction of the USA,” then the second amendment should be taken at face value "the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed," without regard to the preceding clause of "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State." No splitting hairs on the 2nd, divining intent through your political lens, if you aren't doing that on the 14th.

The Supreme Court on Friday dashed President Donald Trump’s plan to immediately fire the head of an independent agency that investigates whistleblower claims, allowing Hampton Dellinger to remain in the job through at least the middle of next week. By declining to back Trump’s emergency appeal, the conservative court nominally sided with Dellinger, who President Joe Biden appointed in 2024 to lead the Office of Special Counsel for a five-year term but who White House officials fired in a brief email days after Trump returned to power. The Dellinger appeal was the first to reach the Supreme Court tied to Trump’s whirlwind of activity since returning

Afterwards, they committed horrific acts to cover up these atrocities.” The revelation comes after Hamas failed to return the body of Shiri Bibas together with her two sons in violation of the cease-fire agreement’s first phase lasting six weeks.

Time to Cut Defense Spending 6 replies

In my opinion, there often is remarkably little correlation between spending and results. Our educational system is an obvious instance: the more we spend, the worse our schools get. I seriously believe that if we cut education spending by 50%, our kids would be better educated. This is a basic difference between liberals and conservatives. Conservatives measure results, while liberals measure inputs. Thus, if we want better schools–or a better military–the liberal solution is obvious: spend more money. Whether the money actually does any good is of little or no interest. When the checks are written, the liberal’s job is done. Which brings us to the Department of Defense:
