Minnesota governor Tim Walz on Tuesday reiterated his support for abolishing the Electoral College and switching to a national popular vote as the sole means of electing presidents and their running mates.
While campaigning for Vice President Kamala Harris on the West Coast, Walz suggested at two different fundraisers that he would prefer to focus on winning votes across the country rather than concentrate on key battleground states that could sway the upcoming presidential election as they have done in the past. “I think all of us know the Electoral College needs to go. We need, we need national popular vote, but that’s not the world we live in,”

Hezbollah said Tuesday it is now ready to engage in cease-fire talks with Israel, after suffering serious blows to its leadership and ranks in recent months.
The terror group in Lebanon made the announcement after firing more than 100 rockets at the Jewish state hours earlier.
Hezbollah’s deputy secretary general, Naim Qassem, publicly endorsed a truce with Israel, the first such time the terror group has proposed a cease-fire not conditioned on the war in Gaza. “We support the political efforts led by [Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih] Berri under the banner of achieving a cease-fire,” Qassem said, according to a CNN translation.

New Zealand’s navy has suffered its first peacetime ship loss since World War II when the $100 million multi-role support vessel HMNZS Manawanui ran aground off the southern coast of Upolu Island, Samoa, caught fire and eventually sank—triggering an environmental disaster in the process.
With all 75 passengers and crew evacuated, the vessel’s loss brings fresh scrutiny to the leadership under its openly lesbian commanding officer, Commander Yvonne Gray.
The Manawanui, originally built in Norway and repurposed for New Zealand’s Royal Navy with a substantial $103 million investment, was conducting a seabed survey mission when it hit a reef, according to maritime news outlet gCaptain.

Supporters of former President Donald Trump were ecstatic to hear that Vice President Kamala Harris could leave the country if he wins next month's presidential election.
Harris didn't specifically say she would jump ship, but rather didn't answer the question directly when it was posed Tuesday by radio host Howard Stern.
Stern, a vocal Democrat and Harris supporter, had asked the Democratic nominee: 'If he wins, God forbid, would you feel safe in this country? Would you stay in this country?'

“World’s worst influencer” Caroline Calloway says she is refusing to leave her Florida home in a “mandatory evacuation” zone — even though she knows it’ll likely kill her.
“So if you’ve been following Hurricane Milton, um, I’m going to die,” the controversial Instagram scammer said in a video Tuesday, a day before the monstrous storm is expected to kill those who refuse to leave.
“It’s supposed to make landfall in the Sarasota-Bradenton area. I’m in Sarasota, I live on the water. It’s a zone A, mandatory evacuation,” she said.(Photo) The 32-year-old, an early influencer who hawked workshops that never happened while getting friends to ghostwrite her popular posts, attempted to explain

Millions of Christians in the United States indicated in a study released on Monday that they are not likely to vote in the upcoming election this November, signaling a potential problem for the Republican Party.
Just over half of interviewees (51%) in a Cultural Research Center at Arizona Christian University study, who identified as "people of faith," responded that they are likely to vote in the presidential election between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris.

Democratic presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris said Monday on CBS’s “60 Minutes” that she owns a Glock semi-automatic pistol.
Correspondent Bill Whitaker said, “A hard left turn here, but you recently surprised people when you said that you are a gun owner and that if someone came into your house they would get shot.” Harris said, “That is not the first time I’ve talked about it.”Whitaker said, “What kind of gun do you own and when and why did you get it?”
Harris said, “I have a Glock, and I’ve had it for quite some time. And I mean, look, Bill, my background is in law enforcemen

SWANNANOA, North Carolina — Hundreds of special operations personnel in North Carolina have formed their own homegrown rescue and supply operation in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene after they grew tired of waiting for the federal government to get its act together.
The Post found an all-volunteer operation being run out of a Harley-Davidson dealership with ruthless efficiency and military precision.

Vice President Kamala Harris cracked open a can of Miller High Life on Tuesday, and took one sip, during an appearance on CBS’ “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”
“When you first became the nominee and named Tim Walz as your vice president nominee people were calling it the vibe election. The vibes were all good,” late-night host Stephen Colbert told Harris, referring to the enthusiasm for the new Democratic nominee after President Biden dropped out of the race.
“But elections, I think, are won on vibes,” Colbert continued, in a clip released his show. “Because one of the old saws is I –

President Biden uses a vulgar nickname for former President Donald Trump when the Democrat speaks about his predecessor in private, according to a forthcoming book.
“That f—king a—hole” is how Biden, 81, refers to Trump, 78, behind closed doors, CNN reported Tuesday in a preview of Bob Woodward’s tome “War,” out next week.
In public, Biden usually refers to Trump in roundabout ways, such as “my predecessor” or “the former guy” — when the incumbent deigns to mention the 45th president at all.
The president’s hot temper and penchant for profanity has been reported before, with Politico revealing in October 2021 that Biden regularly f-bombed West Wing aides in meetings,

Of all the results from the latest I&I/TIPP poll, the most unsettling has to be that voters think Kamala Harris is at least as much of a fiscal and economic conservative as Donald Trump.
Our latest poll, taken of 997 likely voters, finds that more voters say they trust Harris (who’s already announced $4 trillion in tax hikes) than Trump to cut taxes by a 48%-45% margin. Among the crucial independent voters, the margin is even greater – 49% to 36%.
That’s not all.
More trust Harris to bring about energy independence, 48%-47%. Trump is essentially tied with Harris on growing

Democrats, who were once optimistic about the candidacy of Vice President Kamala Harris, are now feeling extremely nervous about the party’s decision to push President Joe Biden to step aside.
Harris won exactly zero Democrat primary votes before her coronation and held one of the lowest approval ratings as a vice president in U.S. history. Only after the establishment media began writing about Harris in a positive way did her standing among the electorate appear to rise.Everything is deadlocked and the composition of the electorate is unknowable, and there are so many things that are unprecedented,” said Jamal Simmons, a Democrat strategist who served as Harris’s communications director until last year.
