C-SPAN is a useful tool for me in my day job, as I record Congressional hearings to write about. However, I never really watch its "Washington Journal" show.
The show invites viewers to call in to give their takes on current events, and one particular little snippet is circulating on X: [Tweet, video]
In the clip, an old man named Willie, an apparent Louisiana Democrat and Vietnam War veteran, calls into the show and says, "I just want to say I am a very patriotic American. I did twenty years in the military, two tours in Vietnam, wounded in 1966, went back in '68.

Former President Donald Trump revealed that the two assassination attempts on his life “have not broken” his will but have “hardened” his resolve to use his time “on earth to make America great again.”
During his rally from Uniondale, New York, on Wednesday, Trump spoke about how the “encounters with death” had not broken his will but had only made him come out with a “bigger and stronger mission.” Trump added that God had “spared” his life twice now.

Former President Donald Trump announced Wednesday that he is planning to visit the city at the center off false migrants-eating pet claims within the next two weeks, as he tries to keep immigration at the heart of the election battle.
His supporters roared as he cracked an off-color joke about visiting Springfield, Ohio, during a rally on Long Island.
'You may never see me again,' he said to the delight of thousands of people packed into the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, who chanted 'Save the cats.'

Arizona Globe journalist Christy Kelly has reported a troubling development following former President Donald Trump’s rally in Tucson, Arizona, last Thursday.
Kelly noted that “as many as 20 people” were affected by these symptoms, all of whom were seated on the left side of the stage.
“Many supporters seated behind Trump onstage went to the ER after the rally with “blurred vision” and “burning” to the eyes. I spoke to several who still have not fully recovered. As many as 20 were affected,” Kelly wrote on X.
The cause of the symptoms remains unknown, and an active investigation is underway.

The FBI and intelligence agencies on Wednesday revealed that Iran has been engaged in online efforts to interfere with U.S. elections by hacking former President Donald Trump’s campaign and attempting to share it with President Joe Biden’s campaign. Before Biden dropped out of the race, Iran sent information taken from the Trump campaign to Biden’s campaign in June and July through unsolicited emails, according to The Hill.
The emails contained non-public information from Trump’s campaign. There is no evidence that the Biden campaign responded to the emails or collaborated with the Iranian hackers.

Within hours of its release, the response to “FIGHTER,” by Breitbart’s own singer/songwriter Jon Kahn, is undeniable as the emotional song has rocketed up the iTunes pop charts into the number 4 slot.
The anthem has cracked the top 10 in all genres on iTunes, currently positioned at number 10.
“FIGHTER” takes a spot on the iTunes charts between Lady Gaga and Teddy Swims. Earlier, Kahn told Breitbart News, “If he can take a bullet, I can write a song. Everybody should find their own method of fighting for what they believe in particularly in times like these.”

Few Americans know that September 17 is Constitution Day and Citizenship Day, commemorating the 1787 signing of the Constitution in Philadelphia. But for me, celebrating citizenship and the Constitution together is the right way to appreciate the promise of America.
I’m an immigrant. When I was eight years old, my parents, brother, sister, and I came to the United States from Israel and settled first in Philadelphia (though I mostly grew up in New Jersey). We came above all for economic reasons: My parents had a small construction business, and the collapse of the Israeli economy in the ’80s destroyed it. America offered the chance to start over.

If you thought President Joe Biden was a threat to gun rights, think again. Vice President Kamala Harris is worse.
An unearthed video reveals the then-California district attorney threatened to take away law-abiding American citizen’s firearms.
In 2007, as a former prosecutor, Vice President Harris promised to “walk into” private homes and confiscate guns, violating America’s Second Amendment rights.

It has become clear throughout the whirlwind career of Kamala Harris as a presidential candidate: the less she says, the better. As the Democrat propaganda machine has labored to transform her from a failed and unpopular vice president into the confident, capable, and cool candidate of joy, her handlers know that the illusion of a competent Kamala depends upon her keeping her mouth shut.
A silent Harris creates new problems, however, as the PR campaign became a little too obvious. We were being asked to believe in Wonder Kamala without being allowed to receive her wisdom. Well, we’re getting it now,

President Trump is holding a rally tonight in Uniondale, New York, marking his second major campaign appearance in the state that a Republican hasn’t been competitive in since 1988.
As The Gateway Pundit reported, in May, thousands of voters turned out to see Trump speak in the Bronx. This was despite fears of violence from Democrats, who had a minimal presence at the rally despite 15 or more politicians and groups trying to disrupt the rally with their protest.
Doors to the rally opened at 3 pm ET. Supporters were seen early in the morning lining up over 12 hours early to see President Trump speak at 7 pm:

Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) took a blowtorch to The New York Times yesterday in Wisconsin, where he ripped into a reporter for two questions that will not go away: it was about the Haitians in Ohio. Vance and Donald Trump have made this story about immigration front-and-center, which has irked the media to the nth degree. The reporter wondered if there were any lines Vance wouldn’t cross to get his point across. The exchange wasn’t as nasty as Trump’s bouts with the press, but JD did land a haymaker, adding that he would never call The New York Times “a respectable paper.”

By slashing interest rates, the Fed has made borrowing money less expensive, taking some of the pressure off consumers' wallets. Experts say it will be a big boost to 401(K) balances too.
The cut of 0.5 percentage points is be biggest in 16 years. The Fed was forced to last take the drastic action in the Great Recession that began in 2008.

The city of Racine, Wisconsin, failed to meet the state’s parity requirement for election inspectors, the Republican National Committee alleged in a lawsuit, claiming the city hired a disproportionate number of Democrats in the primary election last month.
Attorneys for the RNC say the Racine city clerk allowed unaffiliated poll workers to be election inspectors rather than selecting individuals nominated by the GOP. Only nine of the 56 Republican election inspectors approved to work the Aug. 13 primary were hired by the city. And even though there were fewer Democrats approved, the city hired more Democrats than Republicans, according to a statement from the RNC.

With both the jobs picture and inflation softening, the central bank's Federal Open Market Committee chose to lower its key overnight borrowing rate by a half percentage point, or 50 basis points, affirming market expectations that had recently shifted from an outlook for a cut half that size. Outside of the emergency rate cuts during Covid, the last time the FOMC cut by half a point was in 2008

The New York Times devotedly follows the cardinal rule of liberalism—never blame the victim!—at least for officially designated victims of American racism and classism. Slavery, for example, not higher rates of criminal offending, is responsible for blacks’ “unequal involvement in the criminal justice system.” If unwed mothers are poor, the reason lies in heartless welfare rules, not in the decision to have a child out of wedlock.
But when it comes to Donald Trump, victim-blaming is de rigueur. According to the Times’s premier Trump-basher, Peter Baker, Trump is responsible for the attempted assassinations against him. “At the heart of today’s eruption of political violence is Mr. Trump,

BEIRUT - Hand-held radios used by Hezbollah detonated on Wednesday across Lebanon's south and in Beirut's southern suburbs, a security source and a witness said, further stoking tensions with Israel a day after similar explosions launched via the group's pagers.

At least one of the blasts took place near a funeral organized by Iran-backed Hezbollah for those killed the previous day when thousands of pagers used by the group exploded across the country and wounded many of the group's fighters.

Much of the noise coming from the debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris last week had to do with a media-driven narrative that Harris “won.” Maybe so. In initial polls after the debate, Harris padded her lead. But will the debate win be enough for the Democrats’ own rank-and-file voters, who believe the party used an undemocratic method to select its nominee?
September’s I&I/TIPP Poll suggests the answer is yes. Start with the fact that the Real Clear Politics polling average puts Harris up just 1.7 percentage points nationally, and a sliver-thin 0.2 percentage points in key battleground states.

CBS News reporter Adriana Diaz said on Tuesday on “CBS Mornings” that while she was traveling through Nevada, she interviewed people at restaurants who were “really excited” to vote for former President Donald Trump.
Co-host Tony Dokoupil said, “This morning in our series ‘Three Meals,’ we are going to the battleground state of Nevada. Every week until the election, we are hitting the road with different states in mind to break bread with the voters there and ask them what matters most.”
Diaz said, “Spanish settlers called this Nevada, meaning snowy, but down on the ground, the state is sizzling hot, just like what’s cooking at this smoker. It’s the outdoor kitchen

On Tuesday, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre held the first press briefing since Sunday's assassination attempt against former and potentially future President Donald Trump on Sunday. While she began the briefing with lengthy remarks on unrelated topics, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre did not speak about the assassination attempt until she was asked about it.During a back-and-forth with ABC News' Selina Wang, Jean-Pierre claimed that she wanted "to be very clear here" as she insisted that "the president and the vice president have always forcefully--forcefully condemned violence

Gas powered stoves in California could now come with a health warning label similar to what you'd find on a pack of cigarettes or other tobacco products, according to a new proposed law in the state. California lawmakers passed a bill at the end of August that would make it illegal to sell a gas stove that is manufactured or sold online on or after Jan. 1, 2025, or sold in a store, "unless the gas stove bears an adhesive label attached in a conspicuous location," according to the text of the bill. Gov. Gavin Newsom has until the end of September to sign the bill into law.

We keep on being sold the line that Trump is unfit to be president because he uses hateful rhetoric, and I admit that I wished Trump used less incendiary words often enough.
But the people who make this complaint are, if anything, much worse. Trump directs his ire at what are in the end serious problems making the lives of everyday Americans worse, and in return his critics call him a Nazi, an existential threat to America, and make the most disparaging remarks about his supporters. Among the worst offenders are some former Republicans. Rick Wilson famously called for somebody to "put a bullet" in Donald Trump's head, and many

Is Kamala Harris drunk?
Kamala Harris on Tuesday participated in a Q&A with the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) in Philadelphia.
Of course, the moderators at the NABJ treated Kamala Harris much better than President Trump when he participated in a Q&A with them in Chicago in July.
Harris heavily slurred during a bizarre 5-minute rant about total nonsense on Tuesday.
Is she inebriated? Rumors are swirling about Kamala Harris having a serious drinking problem.

In a historic move, Scientific American magazine has endorsed Democrat Vice President Kamala Harris for president — after having made its then-sole exception by endorsing Joe Biden in 2020 — citing science, healthcare, abortion, gun rights, technology, and climate action as key reasons.
On Monday, Scientific American, one of the oldest and most respected science publications in the U.S., made headlines by endorsing Kamala Harris for president. “Vote for Kamala Harris to Support Science, Health and the Environment,” the publication advocated.

Vice President Kamala Harris struggled with a question on how to best reduce the number of handguns on the streets, which are responsible for a wide majority of murders in the United States.
Harris was asked about handguns during an event with the National Association of Black Journalists in Philadelphia, where moderator Tonya Mosley noted that handguns were used for 59 percent of murders in the United States, and that her proposed assault weapons ban was only a small part of the problem.
'I also have been adamant for years and in fact I myself have protested at a gun show probably 10-15 years ago about the gun show loophole

Attack ads airing in the swing states of Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin have been criticizing Democrat presidential candidate Kamala Harris for her past support of taxpayer-funded transition of teenagers.
The 30-second ads from the conservative advocacy group CatholicVote say that 236 underage girls had their breasts removed with taxpayer funds. The ads reportedly used Medicaid data “listing the number of girls under 18 receiving mastectomies and hysterectomies in each state, as well as the number receiving hysterectomies,” per the Washington Times.
