In a press conference on Tuesday, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) appeared in a press conference to detail why his state would take the lead on the investigation into the second assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. To recap, on Sunday, United States Secret Service discovered that an armed man was hiding in the bushes at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida. An agent noticed the muzzle of a rifle in the shrubs, the Associated Press noted, and fired at the gunman. The suspect, Ryan Wesley Routh, fled the scene but was later tracked down and arrested. The FBI confirmed that Trump was the target.

Retired Border Patrol agents on Wednesday accused Democrat U.S. Senate candidate from Missouri Lucas Kunce of “stolen valor” after he claimed to have been “certified by the Border Patrol Tactical Unit (BORTAC),” a certification he could not have.
Kunce released an ad in August in which he claimed that he “trained with the border patrol at our southern border” and is “certified by the Border Patrol Tactical Unit.” [Video]
However, retired Border Patrol agents have disputed Kunce’s claim, saying there is no way he could have been certified by BORTAC.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) condemned Israel for a pager attack that killed 12 and wounded nearly 3,000 in Lebanon on Tuesday, most of whom were officials within or connected to the Hezbollah terrorist organization.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), AOC blamed Israel (which has not formally claimed responsibility) for the attack, and said it had killed and injured civilians. She did not mention Hezbollah, or the fact that terrorists were targeted. [Tweet]
