Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, the Democratic nominee for vice president, was stumped Tuesday when asked by a reporter to explain what he and Vice President Kamala Harris would do for families struggling financially.
In an interview with local Macon, Georgia, CBS affiliate WMAZ, Walz first said that he and Harris understood the problem because they are “middle class.” (X Video) He then offered a series of her proposals unrelated to inflation:
I tell them Kamala Harris and I know something about it being middle-class folks. Our family sit at the table trying to pay the bill. We know coming out of the COVID pandemic

Being president is a 'dangerous job,' Donald Trump told a Michigan crowd of supporters Tuesday night, telling cheering supporters the attempt on his life only proved he mattered.
'You know, only consequential presidents get shot at,' Trump said at a town hall in Flint where he spoke at length about the dramatic incident.
It was one of several light-hearted comments he sprinkled into his remarks, while pointing to the danger that comes with his public profile. After a pair of assassination attempts, he compared the job to high risk occupations like race car driver and bullfighter.

Flint — Republican Donald Trump told a crowd in Flint Tuesday that Michigan had become an "afterthought" in the auto industry and that "only consequential presidents get shot at," two days after a man apparently attempted to assassinate the former president on a golf course in Florida.
Trump made the comment about the shootings at the beginning of a town hall inside inside Dort Financial Center, a venue that's traditionally home to a hockey team. He was detailing his plan to place tariffs on vehicles built by Chinese manufacturers in Mexico.
"You wonder why I get shot at, right?" Trump asked. "Only consequential presidents get shot at."

ABC News’ David Muir seems to have suffered some consequences regarding his appalling stint as debate moderator for the network’s presidential debate on September 10. Muir and co-moderator Linsey Davis were raked over the coals for their biased and, at times, outrageous behavior in the crucial discussion
. Kamala Harris was permitted to lie at will, whereas Trump was fact-checked live, including one regarding his tone, and asked baited questions to get under his skin. Everyone saw through it because his show, World News Tonight, got trashed in the ratings (via NY Post):

Washington—White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre declined to say Tuesday whether President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris support Donald Trump’s call to end federal income taxes on overtime pay — despite previously backing his plan to end taxes on tips.
Jean-Pierre said it wasn’t possible to address the potential policy because the Republican ex-president pitched the idea as part of his campaign to reclaim the White House — even though Biden, Harris and Jean-Pierre got behind Trump’s “no tax on tips” proposal without acknowledging its source.
“The question that you’re asking me — supporting overtime pay, this is something, a proposal in the 2024 election so I’m going to be really,

In his opening monologue for Monday’s eponymous show, his first since the second assassination attempt on former President Trump, NewsNation host Chris Cuomo voiced his disgust and frustration with how many in the media and in the country were reacting to it. While he didn’t like that Trump had called Democrats a threat to democracy, he was “ashamed” of those who were being flippant, mocking, and lacking empathy. He even disclosed that he made a personal call to Trump to check in on him.
Cuomo explained that he had gone through several drafts for his opening monologue but “it wasn't even landing right with me. So, I called former President Trump.”

Though we knew at some point it was coming, the last thing people were thinking about in the immediate aftermath of the first assassination attempt on GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump on July 13th was who he would pick as his vice presidential running mate. But make it he would have to do and soon, considering the Republican National Convention was the following week.
Many names had been bandied about ahead of Trump's eventual announcement, including Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), former Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI), North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), and South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Monday called for Americans to be “criminally charged” if they engage in speech that sounds like Russian propaganda.
“I also think there are Americans who are engaged in this kind of propaganda, and whether they should be civilly or even in some cases, criminally charged, is something that would be a better deterrence,” she told MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow in an interview.Maddow brought up recent actions taken by the Biden-Harris Justice and State Departments against Russians who were allegedly pushing pro-Russian propaganda

What a past few days I’ve had. It has been a whirlwind!
On Friday of last week, I was honored to be chosen by President Trump to open his Las Vegas rally in front of 6,000+ patriots and Trump warriors.
Then on Saturday, I was honored and blessed to enjoy my 16thinterview with President Trump. This one was special- it was my first-ever, exclusive, face-to-face TV interview, at President Trump’s hotel suite at Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas.
I’ll write about the interview later this week. First, I’d like to share what I said and learned at the large Trump rally. Like President Trump, I like to test out

We're counting down to the election now and everyone is looking at the polls, focus groups, and the potential signs.
But I'll hand it to CBS: they're actually sending people out into the field to talk with people, and they're coming back with reactions that may fly in the face of some of the polls. As we reported five days ago, they sent Major Garrett out into the field in Michigan, and he came back with the report that the support for former President Donald Trump was "real and resilient." That was just as a local Detroit News poll and an Insider Advantage survey were putting Trump ahead.

CNN’s Dana Bash on Monday claimed that former President Donald Trump’s attempted assassination suspect Ryan Wesley Routh’s anti-Trump social media posts have no relation to Vice President Kamala Harris and President Joe Biden.
Trump accused Harris and Biden in a Monday Fox News Digital interview of espousing “rhetoric” that he claimed is contributing to the attempts on his life. Bash, on “CNN Newsroom with Wolf Blitzer,” noted that both Harris and Biden have said they are grateful Trump was unscathed after the second attempt and dismissed any suggestion that they influenced Routh, despite his posts, including one mirroring their repeated claim that “democracy is on the ballot,” according to reports.

Former President Donald Trump said, “There’s something going on, perhaps it’s God,” one day after surviving a second assassination attempt within the span of two months.
“There’s something going on, perhaps it’s God wanting me to be president to save this country,” Trump quipped in a Monday night X Space. “Nobody knows.” (X) Trump then recalled the first assassination attempt against him, saying, “When I made the right turn, it’s very unusual because the people weren’t on the right, the people who were standing out in front of me. When I turned my head at an exact 90 degree angle, the bullet came zooming by and clipped my ear.”
