The Times of Israel is liveblogging Tuesday’s events as they unfold. Lebanon’s health minister says eight were killed and some 2,800 were wounded, including 200 seriously, in the pager blasts in Lebanon. Hezbollah has said that two members are among the dead. A young girl, the daughter of a Hezbollah member, was also reported killed after a pager exploded in her parents’ home. Health Minister Firas Abiad says hospitals continue to receive the wounded and that most injuries are in the hand and face. Meanwhile, a large Red Cross convoy is on its way to southern Lebanon, according to Al Arabiya.

Clever, ingenius in fact. It certainly was not something anyone was expecting. God forgive me but I do not have a problem with this. Waiting for the dimwits on the college campuses to start their rebel rousing. Didn't realize that pagers were being used anymore.

2,800 injured?? I would have to see that myself, otherwise I suspect it is a great exageration to make Israel look bad and make pressure mount for them to agree to a cease-fire. These pagers must have been HUGE.

If these exploding pager incidents are true imagine what they can do with the cell phones that just about everyone carries around these days!

Apparently, they still use pagers because they cannot be tracked. No need to track them - just listen for the small explosion and then someone yelling Allah's name.

Also, cheaper and not dependent on cell network reception. In addition to carrying in front pocket, many (myself included in a prior life) just clip them to their belts....

Hezbollah will think twice before using pagers after this. How will they communicate now? Meanwhile, American protestors are planning protests against this.

Re #2, likely they know that phones can be tracked so they use pagers, which receive only, no transmissions to be tracked.
These are bad folks. Bravo to whoever figured out this trick.

I just saw a report that Mossad is closely monitoring everything to see exactly where the terrorists live, work, shop, etc., etc., etc.
So if it didn't kill or injure them to the point where they can't enjoy their 72 virgins, it put a HUGE target on their backs!
Brilliant!

WSJ had a story on Monday about how Hamas commander Sinwar was able to get his orders out without using electronics so they aren’t able to track him in the tunnels. This. Is hilarious!

Love it to death. The terrorist savages must not have read the directions that quite clearly said not to overcharge the damn devices lest they burn inconveniently in one's pocket: self cooking Hot Pockets. Those or 2,500 C. (5,000 F.) lithium ion fires are HOT, especially when the exploding pager is in the pants pocket next to those old family jewels. Feel the Bern, hot scrot! And may the pedophile prophet be razed. Ain't it terrible when a murdering jihadi just can't buy a pager that works properly? The replacement pagers have to come from a different manufacturer's lot. They might overheat, too.

Are they sure that the new pager company didn't just skimp and put in defective lithium batteries, and a poorly designed charging circuit in their pagers?

Hezbollah should try semaphore flags. Surely, those bad Israelis can't mess with signal flags. Or can they? They're pretty smart. Sometimes semaphore doesn't work. When the Beatles used semaphore on the cover of Help in early 1965, they spelled out "NVUJ" on the US album cover because the correct arm positions for "HELP" didn't photograph as well. As Peter Green once said, Oh well. Those of us who were Boy Scouts in the late 1960s learned semaphore and Morse Code. But we were nothing special. You know the Israelis did as well.

Hezbollah's problem wasn't Li-ion batteries. Not this time. It was PETN, a high explosive. Nine Hezbollah in Beirut and southern Lebanon were killed, two thousand eight hundred injured. Good work, IDF.

The most valuable part of this Mossad trick has been that the hezzbolah terrorists are now terrified to use their prayers to communicate with each other....I call that a real benefit to Israel...because communicating with each other is their game with hexxbolah and Iran...so now Iran's officials are frightened to communicate with each other....good job Mossad....
