The view numbers for the first presidential debate were released on Wednesday, showing a significant rise from the June debate between Trump and Biden.
The Nielsen figures show that 58 million people tuned in for the debate between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris on Tuesday, roughly 6.5 million more than who watched the debate between Biden and Trump, which likely led to the former’s decision to drop from the race. According to Axios, the viewership numbers for Tuesday may rise about 60 million “once Nielsen finishes a more comprehensive tally.”

Last month, I spoke with Mark Mitchell, the head pollster at Rasmussen Reports, about Kamala’s bounce in the polls and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s impact on the presidential race. Things have definitely changed since then as Trump has gained momentum in the polls, betting markets, and Nate Silver’s election forecast model. So, I followed up with Mitchell to discuss recent developments in the race, including the debate Tuesday night as well as the latest New York Times/Siena College poll, which showed Donald Trump edging ahead of Kamala Harris.
This was a development that took many by surprise — except the folks at Rasmussen Reports.

Yes, they're getting eaten.
ABC News debate moderator David Muir made a big deal of "fact-checking" President Trump when he cited reports at last night's debate that pets were being eaten by Haitian migrants in Springfield, Ohio, whose flooding 20,000-strong presence was creating many problems for the city of 58,000. (X) My transcript:
TRUMP: "What they have done to our country by allowing these millions and millions of people to come into our country. And look at what's happening to the towns all over the United States. In 1982 the federal budget deficit rose above $100 billion for the first time (those were the good old days!), and then-President Ronald Reagan agreed to an infamous budget deal with then-House Speaker Tip O'Neill. Democrats would agree to $3 of spending cuts for every $1 of tax increases. Reagan foolishly agreed to the deal. The taxes went up. The spending cuts never materialized.Reagan used to fume for the rest of his presidency, "I'm still waiting for those $3 of spending cuts."
Back then Democrats at least pretended they would cut spending. Democratic presidential candidate Michael Dukakis pledged in 1988 that he would "only raise taxes as a last resort."

Within a matter of minutes, Kamala Harris lied about Capitol Police officers dying on January 6, then brought up the "very fine people on both sides" Charlottesville hoax, and ended with the "bloodbath" lie, but the so-called ABC News "moderators" didn't bother fact-checking the Democratic nominee on the presidential debate stage. So we will for them.

Before I get started, I want to make it clear that I think it's great that on a solemn occasion like this, both parties can put their differences aside, shake hands, and pay respects to the lives lost on 9/11. It's something we need to see more of, in my opinion, because at the end of the day, we're all human and the level of divisiveness we're seeing today is not healthy in the long-run. Vice President Kamala Harris came out of her debate with former President Donald Trump armed with confidence she could win the White House with an aspirational message light on specifics.
In the weeks since she has become the Democratic Party’s nominee, Ms. Harris has talked about joy, vision, and values, but has been bereft of policy ideas. Instead, she has called for a broad range of standard proposals embraced by mainstream Democrats.
She only added policies to her website this week, more than 50 days since President Biden dropped out of the race and endorsed her. Ms. Harris’ policy page is vague and dedicates nearly as much space

The Venezuelan migrant gangsters who've run rampant in Colorado's apartment blocks were helped by a migrant housing scheme funded by the Biden administration and the City of Denver, a damning new report shows.
Researchers at the Manhattan Institute, a conservative think tank, have linked a crime wave of drugs, guns, and child sex abuse to taxpayer-funded migrant housing schemes and non-profits in Aurora, a Denver suburb.
Americans were shocked when security footage of Venezuelan migrant gangsters carrying firearms around an Aurora residential complex and forcibly entering an apartment went viral on social media last month.

The commander of Hamas’s Tel Al-Sultan Battalion, Mahmoud Hamdan, and three additional company commanders from the battalion were reportedly killed.
Hamadan played a significant role in the October 7 massacre, according to the IDF.
Soldiers from 401st Brigade identified terrorist squads using drones and directed air force aircraft towards them. This attack, along with additional strikes, effectively dismantled the command chain of the Tel Al Sultan Battalion and killed dozens of other terrorists from the battalion.

Investors on Wednesday appeared to reassess the risks that Kamala Harris could win the presidential contest, sending the major stock indexes plunging on the morning after the debate between Harris and Donald Trump.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by more than 550 points, or 1.4 percent. The S&P 500 declined by 1.1 percent and the Nasdaq Composite was off by 0.70 percent. Harris has said she would seek to hike a broad range of taxes, including taxes on corporate profits, unrealized capital gains, and the incomes of wealthier Americans. Many investors and Wall Street analysts think these taxes would weigh heavily on stocks.

Springfield, Ohio, is now on the frontlines of the immigration wars. The city, awash with tens of thousands of Haitian migrants, has become the center of national attention after stories of pets, geese, and ducks. It’s triggered liberals to no end, with CNN hosts and Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) blowing gaskets over the story. The media has outright said the claim is debunked—not so much. The report about pets being consumed needs to be verified. Thus far, local law enforcement says there’s no evidence, but regarding geese and ducks, there are 911 recordings and reports confirming the Haitians are eating the birds (via The Federalist):

This bill, backed by former President Donald Trump and aimed at addressing voter fraud through the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, was poised to be a major victory for conservatives pushing for election integrity.
President Donald Trump made it clear that he stands firmly behind the SAVE Act, urging Congress to include the provision in any government funding bill. Trump has called for a government shutdown if the act is not included, prioritizing electoral integrity over the continuous funding of a bloated federal government.

Very few debates have as crystal-clear a loser as the Trump–Biden debate in June. This wasn’t one of them. The moderators were bad and biased in Harris’s favor, and I suppose you could deploy the old saw that the side complaining about the moderators is who lost, but that’s just standard by now.
Given my metric from this morning — that the winner is whichever candidate the debate isn’t about — this was probably a narrow win for Kamala Harris. She escaped a detailed examination of her record or a detailed elaboration of her plans. She didn’t pratfall trying to explain herself.

The first presidential debate between Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Kamala Harris has ended. While there were some inevitable disappointments and lost opportunities, I am here to assure you that, yes, Trump definitely performed better overall than Harris did, in spite of the egregiously biased moderators.
Trump was working under a handicap, because the debate moderators — most particularly Trump-hating, Harris-loving David Muir — were as eager to undermine him as Harris was, meaning Trump was essentially debating three people at once.

In fact, Trump was correct about the increase in crime under Biden. While violent crime fell by 17 percent under Trump, Biden has seen it rise by 43 percent.

Vice President Kamala Harris did not trip on the debate stage, smack her head on the lectern, pass out or vomit on herself Tuesday night. She cackled only once.
So for her, it was a ringing success.
But her big, insurmountable political problem remains. Will voters cast their ballots based on a fairly unmemorable debate in which she said nothing? Or will they cast their ballots based on whether they are better off today than they were nearly four years ago when Ms. Harris and President Biden took office?

But here’s the deal: Harris was ready and rarin’ with a better-designed strategy to make her case and get under that orange skin. From the opening handshake she initiated, she capitalized on the luck of the draw: not just the network, but also an opponent who stumbled, rambled, and ranted.

Former President Donald Trump had to deal not only with Harris but bad moderators with questions that seemed designed to help her while not fact-checking her on any of the lies that she told throughout the night. There were areas he could have hit more, but he also was having to deal with all the hoaxes, and the moderators didn't call her out for anything. That's disgraceful. Megyn Kelly and many others on the right called out the bias. Even Democratic strategist Doug Schoen criticized the bias.

Yet, Harris lied her head off the entire night, didn't answer the questions, and the moderators didn't fact-check her on her lies, not even her "fine people" lie, which, at this point, everyone on earth knows that's a lie except Kamala Harris and Joe Biden. Well, they know, but they keep saying it.

President Trump came out the clear winner in the presidential debate, presenting the case for his re-election, laying out the Harris-Biden failures, and confidently going on Fox News to comment on his performance afterwards, as the Kamala Harris camp threw out the possibility of a second debate, in October. Candidates who are losing are the ones who like do-overs.
The moderators -- ABC's David Muir, and Linsey whatshername stunk, with unusual bias seen in both, fact-checking Trump while giving Kamala a pass on obvious and tired whoppers, pushing the abortion-as-health-care narrative, they were vile, and shouldn't be allowed to ever moderate again.

During the debate, Trump laid out a clear, bold vision for America’s future.
His message of prosperity and security stood in stark contrast to the dark, government-overreach narrative pushed by Kamala Harris.

Republican representative Joe Wilson, a senior member of the Foreign Affairs Committee, collapsed at an event on Tuesday and was rushed to hospital, his office said.
The official X profile for Wilson, 77, wrote a message that said the congressman “was taken ill and is being evaluated at a local hospital in Washington, DC.”
According to his son, South Carolina state Attorney General Alan Wilson, his father is in "stable" condition, and doctors "have confirmed [to the family] he has experienced stroke-like symptoms."

Donald Trump got to Kamala Harris’ core problem in his debate close, waving off all her promises about what she’d do in office: “Why hasn’t she done it already?”
Hard to think of a better riposte to her “We won’t go back” slogan — which aims to appeal to Americans’ desperate desire for change from the Biden policies she shares.
Harris had a pretty smooth night: She did her homework for once, including prepping lines guaranteed to get under Trump’s skin — some of which plainly did put him off-balance.
And of course she had backup from the moderators, ABC’s David Muir and Linsey Davis —

President Biden told reporters Tuesday that he’s heading up to New York City and “doing 9/11” in a gaffe that was ruthlessly mocked by social media users.
The 81-year-old president, who was forced to end his re-election bid in July over mounting questions about his mental acuity, made the verbal blunder as he previewed his near-term travel plans.
“I’m going up to my granddaughter’s birthday in New York,” Biden said on the White House lawn as he prepared to board his Marine One helicopter.
“Then we’re going to watch the debate and tomorrow I’m doing 9/11,” the president added, with unfortunate phrasing.

President Biden’s nonchalance about Chinese spying, hacking and election interference is a cause for national worry — and his indifference to the Chinese threat extends even to his own White House.
Acting Secretary of Labor Julie Su’s catastrophic 2021 face-plant while serving as California’s labor secretary made China stronger, while making the world a more dangerous place for Americans and American ideals. Yet Kamala Harris and her backers, including United Auto Workers president Shawn Fain, say they’d like Su to stay in her post after Jan. 20, despite the Senate’s refusal to confirm her nomination for 548 days and counting.
That makes her America’s longest-serving unconfirmed cabinet officer.

It’s debate night, and these aren’t the headlines the Kamala Harris camp wanted to see leading up to what could be the decisive moment for the 2024 election. The vice president must convince a large swath of voters who are undecided about her. Was this the reason for evading the press—to ensure she could make her case before a national audience when crucial swing states, like Pennsylvania, are about to begin early voting? It’s a gamble, especially with a candidate as awkward, unqualified, and nearly braindead as Joe Biden.

If moderators do their job correctly, nobody talks about them afterward. Unless one becomes a legendary moderator like Jim Lehrer, debate watchers don't remember who the moderator was. Back in 2012 CNN debate moderator Candy Crowley let her bias get the best of her and incorrectly "corrected" Republican nominee Mitt Romney's remarks about Barack Obama and the attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya, and her credibility was ruined. In 2016 another CNN personality, Donna Brazile, leaked primary debate questions to Hillary Clinton, and while she's not a journalist or a moderator, her actions even further damaged Americans' faith in impartial and fair political debate moderators.

PHILADELPHIA — Former President Donald Trump repeatedly found himself on the back foot Tuesday night during his debate with Vice President Kamala Harris — as Republicans seethed over repeated fact-checks of the GOP candidate and a noticeably lighter touch for the Democrat’s own disputed statements.
Harris, 59, arrived well-prepared to rattle Trump by claiming that military leaders had told her that the Republican nominee and 45th president was a “disgrace,” that world leaders were “laughing” at him and even asserting that “people start leaving his rallies early out of exhaustion and boredom” after he was “fired by 81 million people” in 2020.
Trump, 78, found himself having to answer not only Harris’

Vice President Kamala Harris avoided directly addressing her numerous policy changes when ABC News anchor Linsey Davis provided her the opportunity to respond during her Tuesday debate against former President Donald Trump.
Harris and Trump competed in their first and only scheduled presidential debate on ABC News on Tuesday night. Davis asked Harris about the many policy positions she has changed since launching her 2024 presidential campaign, but the vice president used her two minutes to discuss her “values” instead of explaining her shifting stances.

As I predicted, the media is going to declare Kamala Harris the winner no matter how it went, and yes, they're already off to the races. That was a foregone conclusion.
Former President Donald Trump wasn't just dealing with one opponent; he had to deal with the hostile moderators as well. And it was perhaps to be anticipated that ABC would not be fair.
Trump had the laugh of the night when he dropped her own line on her about "I'm talking now." She looked weird and childish, making faces at him.

Less than an hour after the ABC News presidential debate ended Tuesday night, Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign called for another matchup, laying down a challenge to former president Donald Trump.
The campaign put out an email touting her performance at the debate and blasting Trump for his responses and demeanor.
The email ended with a direct question to the former president. "Under the bright lights, the American people got to see the choice they will face this fall at the ballot box: between moving forward with Kamala Harris, or going backwards with Trump. That's what they saw tonight and what they should see at a second debate in October.

The topic of guns came up a few times during the debate tonight, usually because Trump rightly claimed that Kamala Harris would go after people’s guns.
At one point, Harris tried to shut down the topic by claiming she wouldn’t come after people’s guns because she’s a gun owner.
This has never come up before. She owns a gun? Really?
Watch the clip below: (X Video) Harris has made her position on guns quite clear over the years. (X Video's)

Taylor Swift said Tuesday she is supporting Vice President Kamala Harris in the race for president, ending speculation about whether the superstar singer would share her political views ahead of November’s election.
“Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight. If you haven’t already, now is a great time to do your research on the issues at hand and the stances these candidates take on the topics that matter to you the most. As a voter, I make sure to watch and read everything I can about their proposed policies and plans for this country,” Swift wrote on Instagram, shortly after
