Hundreds of former aides who served under Republican lawmakers endorsed Democrat presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris, stating that “another four years” of a Trump administration would “hurt real, everyday” Americans. In a letter that USA Today obtained, a group of more than 200 former aides for former President George W. Bush, Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT), and former Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) write that they are reuniting and joining with former staffers for former President George H.W. Bush to endorse Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D).

I just read the list. A whole bunch of "door holders," flunkies and gofers. In fact, one of them was the "Door Officer " for the Romney campaign in Des Moines. Reminds me of the joke about the four cannibals who got jobs. The leader promised the boss that the four would not eat any of the staff so they got hired. One day, the four were called into the boss's office. "We're missing a janitor. Do any of you know what happened to him?" All four denied any involvement and the boss bought their story. When they left the office, the head cannibal asked who ate the janitor? One of the guys sheepishly raised his hand. "You fool! For months, we've been feeding on directors, hr officers, associates and nobody notices. But you go and eat someone they need and the boss notices." These guys on the list remind me of the folks the cannibals feasted on and nobody notices.

The elements of an economic plan presented by Kamala Harris consist of price controls, higher taxes, greater government spending, interventions, regulations, and subsidies paid for by printing a currency devalued by high inflation. These elements constitute “21st-century socialism.” The Kamala Harris–Tim Walz economic plan is the most radical socialist economic plan ever announced by the Democrats. It was Spanish-American philosopher George Santayana who said, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” Why cite him? Because Harris and Walz don’t seem to be able to remember the past, much less learn from it. They want to take the U.S. back 75 years

Savannah, Ga.—Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, will sit down Thursday for their first major television interview of their presidential campaign as the duo travels in southeast Georgia on a bus tour. The interview with CNN’s Dana Bash will give Harris a chance to quell criticism that she has eschewed uncontrolled environments, while also giving her a fresh platform to define her campaign and test her political mettle ahead of an upcoming debate with former President Donald Trump set for Sept. 10. But it also carries risk as her team tries to build on momentum from the ticket shakeup following Joe Biden’s exit

A Tennessee 10-year-old was expelled from school for a full year after he pointed his finger in the shape of a gun and made mock "machine gun" noises, according to a ProPublica investigation. The boy was expelled as part of a "zero tolerance" law in Tennessee that mandates any student who makes a threat of "mass violence" be expelled for at least one year. While the law, originally signed in 2023—following a shooting by a former student at a private school in Nashville—was recently amended to direct schools to expel students only for "valid" threats, the provisions of the law are still vague, and schools have considerable enforcement leeway.

A conservative-backed push for stricter proof-of-citizenship requirements for voting could complicate efforts to avert a government shutdown next month. Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have acknowledged a stopgap of some kind, also known as a continuing resolution (CR), will be necessary to keep the government funded past Sept. 30. But calls are growing among House conservatives to use that must-pass measure to force consideration of a partisan bill aimed at barring noncitizens from voting — laying the groundwork for a clash with the Democratic-led Senate, which would likely reject such a package.

Home Depot partnered with an LGBTQ program that provided elementary students with information on "pansexual" identities and being "nonbinary." In 2022, Home Depot announced one of its "Diversity Partnerships" was the Human Rights Campaign's "Welcoming Schools" program, which is a program to educate students on transgender and LGBTQ terms. The California legislature passed a bill banning local governments from adopting voter identification laws for local elections. California does not require identification to vote, but earlier this year, the City of Huntington Beach approved a voter ID requirement for municipal elections starting in 2026. This bill would override Huntington Beach’s policy. “An overwhelming body of evidence proves that voter ID laws only subvert voter turnout and create barriers to law abiding voters,” wrote bill author State Sen. Dave Min, D-Irvine.

A shocking video shows a crew of gun-wielding men storm through a Colorado apartment building reportedly overrun by a dangerous Venezuelan prison gang. The group of heavily armed men — including three armed with handguns and one with a rifle — enter the troubled apartment complex in the Denver suburb of Aurora and break into a unit, the clip obtained by KDVR shows. The footage was captured earlier this month, shortly before a shootout at the complex, The Edge at Lowry, severely injured one person and damaged multiple cars, according to the local news station.

President Joe Biden appeared in public for the first time in three days, joining his wife Jill Biden on the beach near their vacation home in Rehoboth, Delaware. The first lady’s two sisters and her senior adviser Anthony Bernal joined them on the hot, sunny day. The group sat under two blue umbrellas. Some passers-by waved at them as they walked the beach. It's day nine of the president's two-week vacation. He often sits on the beach when he's in Rehoboth. He had a blue bag with him and was seen removing a file folder stacked with papers.

Vice President Kamala Harris will give her first interview as the Democrats’ presidential nominee Thursday to CNN — in a high-stakes test of her ability to defend her record and policies after weeks of avoiding such an exchange. But Harris, 59, won’t be on her own — with CNN promoting it as a “joint interview” featuring both Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz. Network anchor Dana Bash will conduct the interview — set to air at 9 p.m. ET— in Georgia, where Harris and Walz will be engaged in a bus tour of the battleground state.
