For the past few days, rumors and reports have indicated that the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics was going to downwardly revise their assessment of the number of jobs created from April 2023 to March 2024 “by up to 1 million. This means that all ‘beats’ recorded in the past year will have been misses and the US job market is in far worse shape than the admin[istration] would admit.”
The revision is out, and while it’s not quite a million, it’s still really darn high — 818,000 fewer jobs created in that yearlong period than were initially reported.

DETROIT – Ford Motor is delaying production of a new plant in Tennessee to produce a next-generation all-electric pickup truck and canceling plans for a three-row electric SUV, the company said Wednesday.
Instead, Ford said it will prioritize the development of hybrid models, as well as electric commercial vehicles such as a new electric commercial van in 2026, followed by two pickup trucks in 2027. The pickups are expected to be a full-size truck, which will be produced at the Tennessee plant that's currently under construction in 2027, and a new midsize pickup.
Ford said it will incur a special non-cash charge of about $400 million for the write-down

For a moment on Tuesday, it was 2008 all over again at the Democratic National Convention.
“I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling fired up. I am feeling ready to go,” former president Barack Obama said to open his headlining speech, harking back to his 2008 campaign chant. “I am feeling hopeful, because this convention has always been pretty good to kids with funny names who believe in a country where anything is possible.”
There were the chants of “Yes, we can” and “Yes, she can.” There was the talk of “hope making a comeback,” a blatant effort by the Democrats to try to inject some of Obama’s 2008 magic

Former president Barack Obama took to his hometown stage on Tuesday night to thunderous applause and cheers, providing the keynote address for the second night of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
In a speech that hailed Joe Biden as a hero, blasted Donald Trump as whiny, and praised Kamala Harris as ready on Day 1, Obama's speech was geared towards rallying the troops, noting at one point that the folks in the crowd not "boo" Donald Trump, but instead go out and vote.
Obama's speech is noteworthy because of his alleged role in the ouster of his former vice president, and current U.S. president, Joe Biden.

In a follow up to his nonsensical and false analysis from the previous evening, CNN’s Chris Wallace kicked off Night Two of the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday by boasting about Vice President Kamala Harris’s “love affair” with American voters.
Calling it “a very interesting thing,” Wallace touted how “Joe Biden dropped out of this race 30 days ago, and that is played very much to Kamala Harris's advantage.” According to him, that advantage meant, “She's had this kind of speed dating relationship with voters and so far, it's a love affair!”
Does her husband, Doug know?!
The analogy falls apart when one takes into consideration that even in speed dating,

Joe Biden was up to his old tricks last night when talking about billionaires and what they pay in taxes. He has been lying about this for years so why stop now. CNN fact-checked him this morning:
During his speech, Biden asked the audience if they knew what the average billionaire in the United States pays in taxes.
“We have a thousand billionaires in America. You know what the average tax rate they pay? 8.2%,” Biden said.
Facts First: Biden used this figure in a way that was misleading. As in previous remarks, including his State of the Union address in March, Biden didn’t explain that the figure is the product

A federal judge in Texas on Tuesday barred a Federal Trade Commission rule from taking effect that would ban agreements commonly signed by workers not to join their employers’ rivals or launch competing businesses.
US District Judge Ada Brown in Dallas said the FTC, which enforces federal antitrust laws, does not have the authority to ban practices it deems unfair methods of competition by adopting broad rules.
Brown had temporarily blocked the rule in July while she considered a bid by the US Chamber of Commerce, the country’s largest business lobby, and tax service firm Ryan to strike it down entirely. The rule was set to take effect Sept. 4.

CHICAGO - U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris' election effort has raised around $500 million since she became the Democratic presidential candidate, sources told Reuters, an unprecedented money haul that reflects donor enthusiasm going into the Nov. 5 election.
Four sources familiar with the fundraising effort told Reuters that figure had been banked for Harris in the four weeks since she jumped into the race on July 21.
Campaign cash is critical for advertising and get-out-the-vote efforts that help bring people to the polls and persuade undecided voters to swing a candidate's way.

It was an amazing thing to see last night. After pushing Biden out of the race, the night that was supposed to be his swan song became the Democrats' final insult as Biden's speech was pushed well past primetime. Much of the country was out of luck if they wanted to watch the speech and still be able to wake up to go to work in the morning.
It's as if the Democratic Party deliberately pushed the speech to a time when many Americans would largely not bother watching it. Yes, Biden was introduced by a series of speakers who gave lip service to how great, wonderful, and consequential

Representatives of the jihadist terrorist organization Hamas condemned the terms of an alleged “bridging proposal” to move it towards a ceasefire with Israel on Monday.
Hamas representatives told various media outlets that the provisions U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken discussed with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that day were a “coup against” a previous Hamas-friendly proposal Israel rejected.
Blinken was in Israel on Monday to discuss what he called the “last opportunity” for an end to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) ongoing self-defense operations in Gaza, Hamas’s stronghold territory used to launch the unprecedented October 7 attack on the Israeli homeland. Establishment media outlets are signaling that Democrat presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris’s honeymoon phase is over after the first day of the Democratic National Convention (DNC) saw major issues with logistics and operations.
Several media figures from across the spectrum began publicly criticizing and even openly mocking Democrats for their mistakes at the DNC, particularly with regard to press operations and workspace but also with regard to the flow of convention programming that went far too long on Monday evening. The derailed convention programming, which was far behind schedule, led to President Joe Biden–the sitting president of the United States–being pushed

ABC News anchor Linsey Davis — who will moderate the first debate between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris — linked Trump to the KKK during an interview at the Democratic National Convention on Monday night.
Davis was speaking to Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer when she connected Trump to the KKK. She said to Whitmer:
As you know, former President Donald Trump is expected to go campaign in Howell, Michigan, tomorrow. Many people are aware that a month ago, in Howell, KKK protesters marched in the streets with the white robes on and suggested that they support Donald Trump.
