Former President Trump topped Vice President Harris by 2 points in a new poll from The Wall Street Journal.
The former president garnered 49 percent support among registered voters to the vice president’s 47 percent in the poll, conducted in the wake of President Biden leaving the 2024 presidential race.
Harris significantly improved on Biden’s performance in a Wall Street Journal poll from earlier this month when he was down 6 points to Trump. That poll was conducted shortly after Biden’s disastrous debate performance, which sparked the calls for him to leave the race.

The Justice Department agreed to pay former FBI special agent Peter Strzok a $1.2 settlement over the release of his anti-Trump text messages.
Peter Strzok sued the DOJ for ‘unlawfully disclosing’ his text messages to his paramour Lisa Page.
Strzok and Lisa Page discussed an “insurance policy” to keep Trump out of office.
“I want to believe the path you threw out for consideration in Andy’s office…that there’s no way [Trump] gets elected…but I’m afraid we can’t take that risk,” Strzok text messaged to Page in an Aug. 15, 2016 exchange, referring to Andrew McCabe.

The FBI clarified Friday that a bullet struck former President Donald Trump during an attempt against his life in a rally on July 13.
An attempted assassin present near a Trump rally in Pennsylvania on July 13 opened fire and injured the former president before he was neutralized by the Secret Service. FBI Director Christopher Wray told Congress on Thursday that there were still “some questions” as to what exactly had struck Trump during the assassination attempt, whether it was a “bullet or shrapnel,” though did not directly mention whether glass fragments could be responsible, a theory that has been used by some in the media.

The FBI said Friday that a bullet or fragments of it struck Donald Trump's ear during an assassination attempt on the former president this month at a campaign rally. “What struck former President Trump in the ear was a bullet, whether whole or fragmented into smaller pieces, fired from the deceased subject’s rifle," the FBI said in a statement. The statement comes two days after FBI Director Christopher Wray, whom Trump nominated to his post in 2017, told House lawmakers that "there’s some question about whether or not it’s a bullet or shrapnel that, you know, hit his ear."

Advice to Israel: Get it done in Gaza fast and get to it with Hezbollah soon, because it’s a 50-50 proposition that Kamala Harris is going to be president in January.
And she is coming after you.
In her first major statement as the presumptive Democratic nominee, Harris began by saying Israel has the right to defend itself against terrorism.
Some commenters said she was therefore speaking supportive words. That is absurd on its face.
It actually goes without saying that every nation, in every circumstance, has the right to defend itself against terrorism, since terrorism is the act of deploying political violence against non-combatants. That includes bad nations, and mean nations,

On Tuesday, the House announced a task force to investigate the July 13 assassination attempt against former and potentially future President Donald Trump. It was a rare move of unanimity, as the plan to set up the task force passed by a vote of 416-0. The task force will be comprised of 13 members, Republicans and Democrats. One of the Democrats being considered is Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY), which is raising eyebrows and causing outrage. The Friday morning newsletter from Punchbowl News references Goldman and even mentions that he's "seen as a strong candidate for the panel."

Her warning comes after Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey, a Republican, petitioned the Supreme Court for permission to file a complaint against the state of New York that would delay Trump’s September sentencing hearing and lift all his speech restrictions on the case.
Bailey argued that these restrictions represent an infringment on the right of Missourians to hear from prospective presidential candidates.

First of all, some perspective on polls. I have had some experience with polls and pollsters during my time in the media. The results of any poll are dependent on, among other things, the demographic contacted, the number of people polled, the questions that pollsters ask, and the way they phrase those questions. And it is not unheard of for organizations to conduct polls to obtain a desired result. So it is always wise to take the results of any poll with a few shakers of salt.

Kamala Harris was all smiles when she arrived at Joe Biden's former Delaware campaign headquarters on Monday.
She was there to lift the spirits of blindsided staffers, who after 15 months of toiling to re-elect the president, suddenly found themselves working for her.

For, behind the recent public self-branding of Harris as a kindly, jovial 'Momala', she has earned a nasty reputation as an alleged 'soul-destroying' workplace 'bully'.

Lying gets a lot of media attention, and it’s almost always negative. (Weird, huh?) But if you stop and think about it, lying is a fantastic way to make people believe something that’s totally untrue!
Just ask Joe Biden.
Dishonesty is everywhere. It’s not a new phenomenon. Whereas our motivation to lie might be as vast and varied as the human psyche – pride, wealth, fear, status, envy, cruelty, ambition – all liars share a single commonality:
When they lie, they’re actually telling you the truth about what they want you to believe. To quote a favorite phrase from the late, great Rush Limbaugh, “Reality isn’t defined by individual choice.”

As we've reported here frequently over the years, it's long been known that the various COVID relief programs turned out to be a favorite target for scammers, who lined up in massive numbers to vacuum cash out of programs that were hastily put in place with little to no oversight of where the money was going. The losses mounted into the tens of billions. Some of the thieves were eventually identified and prosecuted, but most of the money will never be recovered. Now that the COVID money is drying up, however, the scammers are in need of new targets. Not to worry! There's always plenty of taxpayer money

It's stress testing. We saw during the pandemic just how corrupt our medical and public health institutions are. We saw the money grabs, the stacking of the decks against ordinary people, the willingness to risk others' lives, the vicious totalitarian strain, and the suppression of dissent. An alleged Mexican drug kingpin suspected of flooding the United States with deadly fentanyl and who evaded authorities for decades is in US custody after he was apparently lured across the border by federal agents.
Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada, 76, the alleged co-founder and leader of the powerful Sinaloa cartel, was arrested in El Paso, Texas on Thursday, Attorney General Merrick Garland said in a statement.
Another alleged cartel leader, Joaquin Guzman Lopez, 38, was also arrested, he said. Guzman is a son of the cartel’s infamous co-founder and former boss Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, 69, who is serving a life sentence in a US prison after

Both former President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama have officially endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president.
The Harris campaign released a video early Friday morning showing the likely Democratic presidential nominee taking a call from the political power couple where they reveal they're endorsing her.
The video was filmed Wednesday in Indianapolis, where Harris traveled to address the Zeta Phi Beta sorority. The couple's decision to stay silent for days on Harris's candidacy had fueled speculation they weren't supportive of her bid.

Calling Seymour Hersh!
The investigative journalist who broke the story about the CIA blowing up the Nord Stream pipelines may be the only reporter brave enough to pierce the veil of secrecy surrounding the political coup that was waged against President Joe Biden this summer.
It looked for all the world as though Biden would survive his June 27 debate debacle. Biden had revealed himself to be woefully unprepared to challenge Donald Trump effectively in what many have called the most significant election of our lifetimes. Republicans warned that Biden was showing signs of senility or even dementia, and even Democrats worried

Not long after the global temperature, which doesn’t actually exist in any statistically meaningful way, blew through the mark at which we are supposed to start burning, and days after a new paper showed that the global warming narrative is exactly backward, the Biden administration awarded $4.3 billion in climate grants. It’s the work of an incompetent.
As well as that of an ideologue, which is equally as dangerous, since ideologues tend to refuse to listen to reason.
In 2020, when Joe Biden was running for office, he was thoroughly sullied when Barack Obama,

A lot of people assume that Democrats heavily influence the media. But that is not just an understatement but an inaccurate statement. To be influenced, the media and Democrats would have to separate organizations. Also, the Democrats would have to employ their powers of persuasion to influence the media.
In reality, the media is the propaganda arm of the Democrats. There is no difference between the utterances of the press and the Democrats. If you want to know what the Democrat leadership is thinking, just follow in the mainstream media.

The current presidency is by all accounts in its final days, a lurching leviathan sinking into the great abyss, a footnote for the history books.
Over the weekend, Joe Biden found himself stranded in the political wilderness, long on detractors but short on friends. Facing insurmountable odds, Biden folded his hand and, giving only one minute’s heads-up to his staff, notified the world that his campaign for a second term was over. He intends to remain in office for the final few months but the House speaker, The National Review, and others are calling for him to skip the curtain call

Nothing is as it appears. Kim Cheatle resigned as director of the Secret Service under intense pressure. In a rare display of bipartisanship, Republicans and Democrats grilled Cheatle as she stonewalled in front of James Comer’s House Oversight Committee. Stonewalling is art among Biden administration appointees. Yet, don’t think that committee Democrats joined Republicans on principle.
As always in Washington, low politics downed Cheatle, a favorite of Doc Jill Biden. That favoritism showed the weekend Donald Trump was shot.

Miranda Devine has an interesting op-ed today in the New York Post, sharing information gleaned from a group of law enforcement who are no longer cooperating with what they see as a highly politicized FBI. The underlying issue is not a surprise to many of us, and the specific reasons for the distrust and lack of cooperation are, not surprisingly, exactly what we predicted long before their assembly came together.

The most basic unresolved question about Husain's metamorphosis, is why he chose to name his "Muslim anti-Islamist extremism organization"— since disbanded — after William "Abdullah" Quilliam, a lunatic, late 19th century British convert to Islam. Quilliam, a Sharia supremacist, was appointed "Sheikh ul-Islam of the British Isles," sought the re-creation of a global Caliphate, and, in a March 1896 fatwa, supported the jihadist Sudanese Mahdist state against "infidel" British soldiers.

A campaign official for Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris acknowledged Wednesday that the vice president is deliberately misleading voters about Project 2025.
CNN first reported the stunning admission as part of a fact-check article accusing Harris of making false claims about Project 2025 and former President Donald Trump’s stance on Social Security. CNN’s Daniel Dale revealed Since entering the presidential race Sunday, Harris and her campaign have repeatedly tried to link Project 2025 to Trump, despite the former president’s pushback.

France’s high-speed rail network was hit Friday with widespread and “criminal” acts of vandalism including arson attacks, paralyzing travel to Paris from across the rest of France and Europe only hours before the grand opening ceremony of the Olympics.
French officials described the attacks as “criminal actions” and said they were investigating whether they were linked to the Olympic Games.
The disruptions as the world’s eye was turning to Paris were expected to affect a quarter of a million people alone on Friday and endure through the weekend, and possibly longer, officials said.

Former President Barack Obama, one of the most prominent holdouts among Democratic party luminaries, and his wife, former First Lady Michelle Obama, have officially given Vice President Kamala Harris their endorsement for the presidency.
Obama, 62, who had at least one publicly known call with Harris on Sunday, lavished praise on her, saying she has the “vision, the character, and the strength that this critical moment demands.”
“Earlier this week, Michelle and I called our friend @KamalaHarris,” the former POTUS wrote on X Friday.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) warned this week that President Joe Biden’s plan to “reform” the U.S. Supreme Court was code for his intent to “destroy” the court because it is the one major government institution that the political Left does not currently control.
Cruz made the remarks during his most recent episode of “Verdict” with co-host Ben Ferguson while talking about Biden’s Oval Office address on Wednesday evening.
In his speech, Biden, 81, said that for the remainder of his time in office, he would “call for Supreme Court reform because this is critical to our democracy—Supreme Court reform.”

Donald Trump tore into FBI Director Christopher Wray Thursday after the bureau head raised questions about whether the former president was actually struck by a bullet when a would-be assassin opened fire at his campaign rally earlier this month.
“FBI Director Christopher Wray told Congress yesterday that he wasn’t sure if I was hit by shrapnel, glass, or a bullet (the FBI never even checked!), but he was sure that Crooked Joe Biden was physically and cognitively ‘uneventful’ – Wrong!” Trump wrote on Truth Social, getting in a dig at President Biden as well.
Wray was answering questions during a House Judiciary Committee meeting on Wednesday when he said there was

The Trump campaign said on Thursday it would be “inappropriate” to schedule presidential debates so long as the Democrats have any confusion about their prospective nominee.
In a statement released on Thursday, Steven Cheung, Trump Campaign Communications Director, said Democrats would need to settle on a nominee before a debate can be agreed upon.“Given the continued political chaos surrounding Crooked Joe Biden and the Democrat Party, general election debate details cannot be finalized until Democrats formally decide on their nominee,” said the statement.“There is a strong sense by many in the Democrat Party — namely Barack Hussein Obama — that Kamala Harris is a Marxist fraud who cannot beat President Trump,

(CNN) — The judge who found Donald Trump liable for fraud and ordered the former president to pay $454 million said he will not recuse himself from the case. Trump asked Judge Arthur Engoron to step aside from the case, which is on appeal, alleging he engaged in “prohibited communications” with a real estate lawyer about the case before his decision was rendered earlier this year.
“I am supremely confident in my ability to continue to serve, as I always have, impartially,” Engoron wrote in an order Thursday. The judge said that over three years into the litigation, his recusal
would result in “immense prejudice.”

Can Kamala Harris improve her standing with voters? Or does she come into the competitive presidential race as high as she'll get? I've written about Harris' prospects several times over the last few weeks since the Dump Biden movement began, warning Democrats that Harris turned out to be poor at it in 2019, and then showed even less competence after becoming Vice President.
Just to recall, here's her favorability chart from RCP. Harris is not starting from scratch, nor does she begin with much good will from the electorate: If history and starting points mean anything -- and sometimes they mean less than we expect -- then Democrats just

This is the summer of media discontent.
Ever since the debate debacle, which exposed Joe Biden as the shell of a man the press had been shielding from public exposure, journalists have been struggling. Beyond failed attempts to extricate themselves from that culpability quagmire, there was the way they covered the Trump assassination attempt, dealing with the GOP convention, Biden’s COVID disappearance, the turmoil in the Democratic Party, and then the ultimate departure of President Silveralert from the ticket. This week, as they were eager to elevate Kamala Harris into the political stratosphere, we saw yet another attempt by the news outlets to set
