Distrust has settled over the campaign trails in the United States and United Kingdom ahead of July 4 like a soggy summer haze. On that day, British voters will choose a new Parliament in an election expected to finish with a Labour government after 14 years under the Conservatives. Americans across the pond, deeply polarized by the rematch between Democratic President Joe Biden and Republican Donald Trump, will mark Independence Day in something resembling unity with barbecues and fireworks ahead of their vote on Nov. 5. There’s much to celebrate on the Fourth of July for one of the world’s biggest democracies and the venerable kingdom that gave rise to it,

Deep distrust of AP and other media, too. One tends to distrust proven liars. You get a reputation, and that's it. Never, again...

Can't trust the vaunted press either. FTA: "Trump, meanwhile, repeated his lies about the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection and his record as president."

According to White House aides, President Joe Biden only has a six-hour window of optimal functionality. From 10 am to 4 pm, that’s peak mental activity time for the president. After that, things go downhill fast, so I was shocked that Biden would deliver remarks at 7:45 pm tonight on the Supreme Court ruling on the immunity case.Biden threw a tantrum, visibly frustrated that the Supreme Court stopped his politically motivated legal crusade against his political rival. It was one of the most pathetic attempts at deflection in recent memory. We all still think you’re too old and slow, Joe.

There is no mystery why China's big banks have run from Russia: These behemoths — the four largest banks in the world ranked by assets are Chinese — know the U.S. can effectively impose a death sentence. The Secretary of the Treasury, for instance, can designate, pursuant to Section 311 of the USA PATRIOT Act, Chinese banks to be of "primary money laundering concern." Designated banks can no longer clear dollar transactions through New York, where every dollar transaction clears. Because the dollar reigns supreme in international transactions,

United States military bases in Italy, Germany, Bulgaria and Romania have been put on high alert with a potential terrorist related threat event eminent. Given the nature of domestic USA politics, in combination with the catastrophic results about to come from France, the timing of some form of Intelligence Community (IC) event would make sense. The IC has two wings, DHS (domestically) and CIA (internationally). Distracting people away from the problems the IC faces within the Joe Biden collapse would be a paramount objective this upcoming week.

Thirty miles north of Philadelphia, upscale subdivisions such as Colonial Commons interrupt dairy farms, centuries-old roadside stone houses and the winding Neshaminy Creek that flows between Doylestown and Newtown. Both cities were once rural outposts that have morphed into fashionable commercial, dining and shopping hubs. This is one of the most closely watched areas in U.S. politics. President Joe Biden ran up his numbers in Bucks County, which includes both cities, on the way to flipping Pennsylvania from Republican Donald Trump four years ago, and won among suburban women in the state by a substantial margin.

The 1951 J.D. Salinger novel The Catcher in the Rye has long been one of the most controversial literary tomes, inspiring films and criminal conspiracies. John Lennon’s murderer, Marc David Chapman, carried the book at the murder and continued reading it while Lennon lay bleeding at his feet. He has said that he wished to model his life after the novel's protagonist, Holden Caulfield, identifying with Holden’s misanthropic world view. John Hinckley, after his attack on President Ronald Reagan, was found to have a copy of Rye, but the book did not have anything to do with his psychosis.

Former President Donald Trump’s new proposal to exclude tips from federal taxes is getting strong reviews from some Republican lawmakers, though major questions remain about the impact of the policy and how it would work. What’s certain is that a change in the taxation of tips would affect millions. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates there are 2.24 million waiters and waitresses across the country, with tips making up a large percentage of their income. A look at what Trump’s proposing and the possible political and economic ramifications:

Former President Donald Trump said in an interview posted Thursday he wants to give automatic green cards to foreign students who graduate from U.S. colleges, a sharp departure from the anti-immigrant rhetoric he typically uses on the campaign trail. Trump was asked about plans for companies to be able to import the “best and brightest” in a podcast taped Wednesday with venture capitalists and tech investors called the “All-In.” “What I want to do and what I will do is you graduate from a college,

Six years after California legalized marijuana, the bodies keep piling up. Earlier this year, six men were murdered in the Mojave Desert. Four of the men had been burned after being shot with rifles. In 2020, seven people were killed at an illegal pot operation in Riverside County. Violence like this was supposed to disappear after legalization. Legalization advocates argued that making the drug trade legal would end the grip of the cartels. Instead, the legal market has failed, and the cartels are taking over sizable parts of California and the rest of the country. California's legal drug revenues have fallen consistently, as have those in other legal drug states including Colorado,

In the race for Albany County District Attorney, The Post endorses incumbent DA David Soares as a voice of reason. Twenty years ago, Soares, then a Soros-backed progressive, ran for district attorney as a reformer denouncing the tough Rockefeller drug laws that established mandatory-minimum sentences for narcotics crimes. In office, he’s developed innovative alternatives to incarceration that have helped defendants while protecting public safety. Today, Soares has come under fire from progressives because he keeps telling the truth about how recent, ill-conceived “criminal justice reforms” (like no-bail and Raise the Age) are disasters for the larger community, especially poor and minority communities.

President Trump has focused his 2024 campaign on a number of issues that one would expect, but he shook up the game this summer by issuing a new policy proposal: “No Tax On Tips.” While his campaign hasn’t released the usual detailed policy papers on it yet, the president made it clear what he means: “restaurant workers, hospitality workers, and anybody else who gets tips.” The Left responded immediately with what they see as the downside: by reducing federal taxes on tips, federal revenues would drop by a huge amount of money, or at least, by an amount of money that sounds huge.

"Donald Trump is providing an opportunity for everybody to have an equal shot on a fair playing field. And that's what it comes down to at the end of the day. LGBT voters don't need to be pandered to. We don't need to be marginalized. We just need to be given the same opportunity for success, and for freedom, and for liberty as everybody else," Log Cabin Republicans President Charles Moran told Fox News Digital in a Zoom interview earlier this week.

On Monday morning, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in a 6-3 decision of Trump v. United States that the office of the United States presidency has immunity from criminal prosecution. Justice Sonia Sotomayor wrote the dissent, which Justices Elena Kagan and Ketanji Brown Jackson also signed onto. It's a dissent that has plenty of people talking over social media, with a common theme of the reaction being "bats**t" to describe her ranting and raving. "With fear for our democracy, I dissent," she wrote in what sounds like a line the Biden reelection will almost certainly take advantage of. She also began her dissent in part by writing

The Biden family are apparently questioning whether several top campaign aides should be fired after last week’s disastrous debate debacle — as some allies accused President Biden’s preparation team of “political malpractice.” Talk of axing the staffers unfolded in private as President Biden and his family hunkered down at Camp David over the weekend to discuss options amid mounting calls for the 81-year-old to give up his re-election campaign, sources told CNN. During the discussions, some members of the first family trashed the senior aides and called for them to be put on the chopping block —

Trump faces charges in Washington, D.C., brought by Special Counsel Jack Smith relating to his conduct on January 6, 2021, when rioters stormed the Capitol. He argued that he is immune from prosecution for his official acts.As Breitbart News reported, the Court found that presidents have absolute immunity from criminal prosecution for official acts, but not from unofficial acts, and remanded the case back to the trial court to determine the difference.

Voters removed Sens.
