A sometimes halting Biden tries at debate
to confront Trump, who responds with falsehoods

A raspy and sometimes halting President Joe Biden repeatedly sought to confront in their first debate ahead of the November election, as his Republican rival countered Biden’s criticism by leaning into falsehoods about the economy, illegal immigration and his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol insurrection. [SNIP] Meanwhile, the 78-year-old Trump’s rhetoric offered Americans an unwelcome reminder of the bombast he launched daily during his tumultuous four years in office, as he struggles to win over skeptical voters.

Comments:

This is how the dishonest Associated Press is spinning the debate.

Didn't this writer from the AP get the word. It is suddenly OK to trash Biden and openly call for him to step down. You didn't need to write this sycophantic drivel. It's all over.

The authors apparently wrote their headline before the debate then did pick & choose to get things to back up their pre conceived conclusion. Unfortunately, by seeking quotes to match their conclusion, they ignored most of what was really said and how it was said during the debate. They seem to have watched a different debate than everyone else did based on the reality of what was really said by Trump and Biden.

Every coherent word out of Joes mouth was a lie. Leaving the journalists aside, no excuse for not doing your job as an objective observer, but I am betting this writer speaks for many of my friends who have resisted exposure to anything other than The View, NPR, Huff Post, and late night TV. They have no clue about the facts and drink whatever kool-aid they’re served up from ideologs and idiots. It will take them awhile to process what they saw last night. Or they may resort to the comfort of their orange man bad blanket.

There’s a young social media influencer, harry sisson, and he put out a tweet that said the same thing, obviously with less words. He’s getting ridiculed on X, it’s hilarious. The main point is that harry is paid for his enthusiasm but someone forgot to send him the memo about replacing joe.

I didn't read the article. I didn't watch the debate. I doubt anyone was reminded of any "chaos" during Trump's time in office. I think what they remembered was a full employment economy, energy independence and a more secure border while Trump was President.

Arizona has been at the epicenter of false claims of voter fraud since the 2020 presidential elections, rhetoric that persists as the swing state braces for the rematch of a presidential contest that triggered chaos and conspiracy theories nearly four years ago. [SNIP] Garrett Archer, an ABC15 data analyst and a former senior elections analyst for the Arizona secretary of state, recalled claims of rigged elections dating back to the 2000s, but said they didn’t compare to the supercharged allegations of voter fraud fueled by Trump, his former attorney Rudy Giuliani and high-profile republicans in Arizona. Archer said the false claims “blew up,” and ignited demonstrations across Phoenix.

Mujahid made his declaration on the first day of a meeting that took place this weekend in Qatar led by the United Nations aimed at improving relations with Afghanistan.

Gag orders, constitutionally dubious, are meant to protect the integrity of a judicial proceeding. However, even with the trial over, the gag orders imposed on former President Trump are not going away. DA Bragg’s office (which had just freed the antisemitic Columbia Hamas rioters) demanded a continuation of the gag order which prohibits him from commenting on the individuals involved in the trial. Since Trump is also running for president and Biden is spending $50 million to attack him over the various Democrat trials imposed on him, this effectively bans a presidential candidate from debating a campaign issue.

There is no point in invoking morality, decency, or any suchlike stuff, in appealing to the pro-Palestinian groups that have been spewing their antisemitic venom on campuses from sea to shining sea to cease and desist. But a just-announced lawsuit against two of those groups could lead to a possible hit to their pocketbook. [SNIP] Now a group of nine victims of Hamas’ attacks on October 7 are suing two of the most important anti-Israel groups on American campuses, the umbrella groups National Students for Justice in Palestine (NSJUP) and American Muslims For Palestine (AMP), for aiding Hamas as “collaborators and propagandists.”

WASHINGTON — Vice President Kamala Harris is “the future of the Democratic Party,” the White House declared Wednesday as leading Democrats and their allies position themselves to replace President Biden as the party’s nominee if the 81-year-old president steps aside. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre pronounced Harris as Biden’s political heir, at one point referring to her as “president,” when asked about his 2020 campaign remark that he would be a “transitional” candidate. “One of the reasons why he picked the vice president, President [sic] Kamala Harris, is because she is indeed the future of the party,” Jean-Pierre said at her regular briefing.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) is continuing her quest to raise taxes. She is now trying to convince the moderate Democrats and those who are against tax hikes to pass the progressives' tax hikes. For years, we have heard Democrat politicians criticize corporations that employ millions of people for not paying higher taxes. That may sound like a great idea — if it were realistic. Corporations will never pay their "fair share" in taxes. If Congress ultimately decides to raise the corporate tax, that will be a tax on the consumers because those corporations will raise prices to cover their costs and offset what they would be paying in taxes.

WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden's conduct behind closed doors, in the Oval Office, on Air Force One and in meetings around the world is described in the same dual way by those who regularly see him in action. Sometimes he doesn't grasp the finer points of policy details. He occasionally forgets people's names, stares blankly and moves slowly around the room. I have never been a fan of Kamala Harris. I was an outspoken critic of her candidacy for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020, earning the ire both of her then spokesperson and also the notorious “KHive” of terminally online Harris fans. Nor did I shed any tears when her campaign turned out to be a disaster and she ended up withdrawing from the race before a single vote had been cast in the primaries. So it is with some surprise, reluctance and even trepidation that I am now writing these words: Joe Biden should stand aside and endorse Kamala Harris as the 2024 Democratic presidential nominee.
