President Joe Biden started the first presidential debate with a noticeably hoarse voice.
Biden and former president Donald Trump are facing one another yet again after two debates in 2020. They started out discussing inflation and abortion. But many online took notice of Biden's raspy voice as he delivered his early answers.
Pollster Frank Luntz, who is conducting a focus group on the showdown, said on X: "My focus group of undecided voters is surprised and concerned about Biden’s voice. This doesn’t bode well for questions about his health."

Joe Biden went into Thursday night’s debate with one advantage: He had lower expectations than any incumbent president—with the possible exception of his predecessor—in the 60-year history of American presidential debates. Voters already thought that he was too old, that he was ill equipped for the job of of the presidency, that he was incompetent. He had little to lose. He was already bottoming out in the polls. Voters, meanwhile, had clearly forgotten about the daily terrors, abuses, and embarrassments of the Trump era.

From the very beginning of the debate, there was an unmistakable frailty to Biden's demeanor. According to NBC, he has a cold.
Responding to the CNN moderator Jake Tapper's first question, which was about the economy, Biden appeared out of breath. He hastily began reciting facts while slurring and occasionally omitting words.
U.S. President Joe Biden's supporters had hoped Thursday night's debate would erase worries that the 81-year-old was too old to serve another term, but his hoarse voice and at times tentative performance against Republican rival Donald Trump did the opposite.
Biden and Trump, 78, both have faced concerns about their age and fitness in the run-up to the Nov. 5 election, but they have weighed more heavily on Biden.
On Thursday, with his voice hoarse from a cold, Biden hurried through some of his talking points on the debate stage, stumbled over some answers and trailed off during others.

A migrant from El Salvador is accused of shooting dead two people inside an Irving, Texas, Chick-fil-A in what police are calling a targeted double murder.
Oved Bernardo Mendoza Argueta, a 37-year-old migrant from El Salvador, has been arrested and charged with capital murder of multiple persons by the Irving Police Department.
According to police, on the afternoon of June 26, Argueta walked into the Chick-fil-A and shot two people in a planned attack. Argueta’s wife is an employee at the Chick-fil-A, police said, and witnessed the double murder.
The two victims, one of whom has been identified as Patricia Portillo, were found by police inside the Chick-fil-A suffering from gunshot wounds.

Judge Aileen Cannon wants to hold additional hearings on Donald Trump’s attempts to challenge key evidence in his classified documents case and will allow the former president’s lawyers to question witnesses about the investigation and search of Mar-a-Lago.
On Thursday, the Florida-based judge said in a new order that she wants more evidence about the language in the FBI warrant used to seize classified records from Mar-a-Lago in 2022 and about grand jury testimony from Trump’s former attorney, Evan Corcoran.

WASHINGTON — Liberal Justice Sonia Sotomayor accused the Supreme Court's conservative majority of seizing power for itself as it curbs the authority of federal agencies in a series of rulings, including one Thursday that went against the Securities and Exchange Commission.
She said in a dissenting opinion that the ruling, which limits the SEC's ability to enforce securities laws, was part of a "disconcerting trend" in which the court has pared back the power of regulators. Watch out for shenanigans on Thursday night from CNN’s debate moderators Jake Tapper and Dana Bash! Both Donald Trump and Joe Biden — by rule — can have their microphones muted if they go over time.
But who can mute Tapper and Bash when they talk over Trump and hit him with unfair and slanted questions?
Based on their reporting and analysis over the years at CNN, Republican supporters of Trump should expect Tapper and Bash to question not just his policy positions, but his judgment and even behavior.

They've done this by repeatedly claiming former President Donald Trump tanked a bipartisan border bill in order to keep the issue alive on the campaign trail while conveniently ignoring Biden's promises in 2020 to flood the border.

An illegal migrant has been arrested for allegedly forcing a 15-year-old girl into his car, stripping off her clothes and raping her in upstate New York.
Sakir Akkan, 21, is accused of targeting the teen after spotting her walking down a street in Albany in the early hours of May 14, the Times Union reported, citing court documents.
Akkan, who hails from Turkey, allegedly jumped out of his Toyota Prius armed with a metal pole and threatened to beat the girl if she didn’t get in the car.
Once she was inside, he allegedly sped off to an isolated street, took the girl’s clothes off and raped her, the filing charges.
Jacksonville rapper Julio Foolio was shot and killed at a Holiday Inn in Tampa early Sunday morning, according to his attorney.
Charles Andrew Jones II, who performs under the stage name Julio Foolio, was celebrating his 26th birthday at a party he advertised on Instagram.
