The Manhattan District Attorney’s office agreed with attorneys for former President Donald Trump who said that his gag order should no longer prohibit him from speaking about trial witnesses, as the trial has concluded.
The gag order, issued by New York Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan, had prohibited former President Trump from making statements, or directing others to make statements on his behalf, about trial witnesses, jurors, court staff, and counsel and their staff, if the statements were made to interfere with the case. This order did not cover Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg or Justice Merchan, but it did extend to their family members.

The mother of an accused California car thief who was fatally stabbed during a heist attempt wants authorities to reopen the case and charge her son’s killer in the name of “justice.”
Xavier Jerrod Cerf, 27, was fatally stabbed around 8 p.m. June 17 after a group of students confronted him as he allegedly tried to steal an older Mercedes parked behind a frat house on the University of Southern California’s Greek Row, according to ABC 7.
Cerf allegedly told the students that the car was his because it was “calling him” and “had his name” — then told them he had a handgun before reaching for his waist, investigators said.

On Sunday's "This Week," Martha Raddatz had a panel discussion with three "experts" on the upcoming presidential debate. The panel included Frank Luntz, and what he offered up made little sense.
Luntz claims that the last two presidential campaigns, beginning with Trump versus Clinton in 2016 and then Trump versus Biden in 2020, were the beginning of the end of democracy. It seems everything in politics is “the end of democracy.” Luntz claimed that personal invectives and insults are too debasing and, apparently, a sign of the end of democracy. Luntz is a pollster, not a historian. Maybe he’s unaware of the long history of politicians insulting each other.
