On a side note: A human blimp who no doubt supports illegal and unwarranted land seizures (evidenced by the shemagh draped around her shoulders) chanting about a “greedy side” is peak irony.

There is so much stupid among the population. I am surprised they can even get through their day without someone guiding them. Econ 101 obviously is no longer being offered in high schools. Since Gavin has determined that french frying potatoes is a $20 an hour job everyone thinks they should get a cut. Yeah, at least 10,000 have lost their jobs. All honest work should be respected but not all work is worth the same. You are not going to buy a house serving up a cup of coffee. You are not "owed" a living wage. That is just nonsense.

Property seems to be available now, complete with equipment. The workers should unite and get a lease and start it up again, pay themselves $20/hr or whatever is "living" or "fair." Don't forget full medical insurance, 6 weeks time off, 2 weeks sick leave, 6 months parental leave, educational benefits, 401K contributions , time off for protests, time off for "transitions" and have at selling that $15 coffee if there is actually anyone who shows up to work outside all their fringe bennies.

The female in the picture with the tablecloth shawl makes me wonder if she'd be a lot happier on a pancake mix box. She made a point, but I wonder if that's what she intended.

It's heart breaking to see how ignorant these people are. But it's like I told my kids . . .
There are things in life that you will learn. You can learn them from people who love you, or you will learn them from people who do not. But, you will learn them!

Life is tough. It's tougher if you're stupid.
I wonder how much money the Blimp wasted on those piercings and the tattoos.

So, imagine them applying for jobs at other establishments.
Think anyone would hire them considering their previous demands?

Al Gore, who as a toddler memorized the union hymnal, would be sympathetic the barristas' desire to organize, bring the mafia in to bargain with management, pay union dues, subsidize Democrats, strike for $30 an hour, do minimal work, and hit the unemployment line when their workplaces get shut down after a week. But it's a basic human want. These barristas want freedom from want. And they'll have you that they're union, and they're proud!
Parenthetically, would you patronize a coffee shop where the employees wore Islamist garb? Do what I do: Brew the espresso at home. The apparatus isn't too costly unless you have to have a full size Starbuck's professional store model which can serve hundreds of customers per day.

It's delightful that this happened before they became unionized. They have no representation and no money for legal work. By actually closing the shop, the owner has made himself legally immune. Only stupid employees think they can get away with this idiocy.
Ask auto workers what happened when they were unionized and demanded unearned pay increases. The companies, over time, brought in robots and got more reliable "workers" that show up on time, don't whine, and rarely get sick (broken down). If they do, they quickly swap in another robot that can do the job just as well with no training. Neither will these robots quit or retire or complain when a better model robot replaces them.
In the coffee shop case, the workers were not even that skilled. It didn't matter that the auto workers were, they were out performed by the robots. If I were the owner of the coffee shop, I would look into coffee serving robots and reopen automated. The hamburger shops are pursuing robots for their places. Low skilled workers are dinosaurs. As tech gets smarter, there will be so much more "robots" can do.
Beyond that, liberal experimentation with buying votes by forcing higher pay on business is blowing up in their faces. These kinds of government actions will lose favor as people are laid off and businesses close because they are forced into paying unjustified wages. People go to fast food places because they are cheap. High wages make them not cheap and make it more likely to go to a better restaurant given roughly equivalent costs for a meal.
Further, low skilled workers will have less entry points into the economy. No one will want to take on an unskilled worker at high wages and the places to learn the needed skills will dwindle.

Why don't they find a better paying job that suits the skills they learned in college? You didn't major major in 'Womyn's Subjugation in Primitive Cultures' for nothing.

The coffee machine (a robot) at my work can make hundreds of types of coffee drinks, still have not tried them all. Someone has to maintain it once a day and they make over $20.
