Pope Francis Laments Excessive ‘Faggotry’
in Catholic Seminaries

Original Article

Pope Francis complained Catholic seminaries are too full of “faggotry” in a closed-door meeting with Italian bishops last week, local media report. While the pontiff famously asked, “Who am I to judge?” in 2013 in reference to a homosexual monsignor who was trying to live a chaste lifestyle, he has been an outspoken critic of gays in the Catholic priesthood. In 2018, Francis insisted that it is a mistake to downplay the seriousness of homosexuality, asserting that homosexuals have no place in the priesthood. Homosexuality is “not just an expression of an affection,” the pope said in a book-length interview. “In consecrated and priestly life, there’s no room for that kind of affection.”

Re #2....yeah, but that's just semantics. The point still stands, he is against homosexuals in the seminaries. That's a good start. Until now, I don't think any Pope has ever actually engaged on that issue. Tiny step in the right direction. Apologizing for the semantics isn't too big a deal, IMO.

Priests used to be able to marry, long ago. I don't see why they can't. That would help a lot with the type of men they draw to be priests. Knew of a priest, decades ago, who got a teenage girl pregnant. They just reassigned him to another parish.

Several decades ago, the American branch of the Catholic church wanted to alleviate the priest shortage. They weighed three options: women priests, married priests and homosexual priests who promised to be celibate. We all know which option they picked. Obviously, this was a huge mistake. These homosexual priests molested boys by the thousands. Back in the 1990s, I read two studies that examined homosexuality in the U.S. Catholic church. One study claimed that 40% of American priests were gay. The other placed the number at 50%. And over the years, I have heard multiple stories about how a few Catholic seminaries were hostile toward heterosexuals. Yes, Satan is trying to destroy the Catholic church from within.

Pretty sure the previous 2 Popes issued directives to seminaries not to accept them into formation, #3. That weeded few out, though. Only outright misconduct could draw expulsion, not orientation or perceived orientation. #7 overlooks that sexual misconduct by priests was more rife before chaste celibacy rules. Many flaunted mistresses and illegitimate children.

No one really knows how many Americans regularly carry handguns, concealed or openly. The number of concealed carry licenses doesn’t tell the tale, particularly since 29 states are now “constitutional carry states.” Unless otherwise prohibited by law, Americans need no license to carry concealed weapons in those states. As I recently noted here at AT, some 36 states allow open carry. We do know that April was the 57th consecutive month of more than one million gun sales. It’s reasonable to believe tens of millions of Americans regularly carry, and most don’t advertise the fact. But why should anyone carry? :

The American Spectator’s Leonora Cravotta is right about the movie’s boy/girl romance and the welcome clear line between good and bad. These are too rare on the large or small screen these days. But for me these positives were cancelled by the aforementioned dreary chaos at industrial decibel levels. No disrespect to the estimable Leonora.
