in Catholic Seminaries

Pope Francis complained Catholic seminaries are too full of “faggotry” in a closed-door meeting with Italian bishops last week, local media report.
While the pontiff famously asked, “Who am I to judge?” in 2013 in reference to a homosexual monsignor who was trying to live a chaste lifestyle, he has been an outspoken critic of gays in the Catholic priesthood.
In 2018, Francis insisted that it is a mistake to downplay the seriousness of homosexuality, asserting that homosexuals have no place in the priesthood.
Homosexuality is “not just an expression of an affection,” the pope said in a book-length interview. “In consecrated and priestly life, there’s no room for that kind of affection.”

Not quite a broken clock - he's only been right once (but maybe it's a start).

Don't worry - he apologized for using the "offensive slur". Absolutely pathetic.

Re #2....yeah, but that's just semantics.
The point still stands, he is against homosexuals in the seminaries. That's a good start. Until now, I don't think any Pope has ever actually engaged on that issue. Tiny step in the right direction.
Apologizing for the semantics isn't too big a deal, IMO.

Are they still entangled in the “condemn the sin not the sinner” business?

Long after this pope has gone to his reward, the world will remember Pope Francis for introducing the word frociaggine to Italians and non-Italians alike.

Priests used to be able to marry, long ago. I don't see why they can't. That would help a lot with the type of men they draw to be priests. Knew of a priest, decades ago, who got a teenage girl pregnant. They just reassigned him to another parish.

This Marxist PAPA seems to enjoy running his gums, although he should have checked with his boy, Sweet Barry, on this one.

the 'lavender mafia' has been pushing gays into the seminaries for decades. this pushes straight men OUT.
pope john paul II put cardinal ratzinger in charge of batting clean up--and out.
bidemonic and the red stars push [now pope] benedict out--and pope mrxista in.
what's always wrong with this picture?

there are two kinds of people in this world who really, really don't like the homo-sexual(s) who are also in this world, sad to say, and they are communists and muslims
evaluating the fat little guy in Rome he can probably be ruled out as a muslim but is in serious contention for being the first communist pope, which doesn't give me a whole lot of encouragement to come back to the church
wonder what Bishop Fulton J. Sheen would have to say about the little fat guy in Rome and his obvious communist tendencies in his governance of "the Church"

Re #6, yes, and also checche which is apparently the plural of the noun....which would certainly fail the bad word filter here at our salon.
I lived in Italy as a JrHi student....and surprisingly never learned this word. Seems that the kids learn the "bad" words first.

Every Bishop who has a diocese knows which priests in his diocese are homosexuals.
Instead of getting rid of them they hide them.

Several decades ago, the American branch of the Catholic church wanted to alleviate the priest shortage. They weighed three options: women priests, married priests and homosexual priests who promised to be celibate. We all know which option they picked. Obviously, this was a huge mistake. These homosexual priests molested boys by the thousands.
Back in the 1990s, I read two studies that examined homosexuality in the U.S. Catholic church. One study claimed that 40% of American priests were gay. The other placed the number at 50%. And over the years, I have heard multiple stories about how a few Catholic seminaries were hostile toward heterosexuals. Yes, Satan is trying to destroy the Catholic church from within.

Pretty sure the previous 2 Popes issued directives to seminaries not to accept them into formation, #3. That weeded few out, though. Only outright misconduct could draw expulsion, not orientation or perceived orientation.
#7 overlooks that sexual misconduct by priests was more rife before chaste celibacy rules. Many flaunted mistresses and illegitimate children.

Well, is it true? IS there excessive faggotry in seminaries? If Frank speaks the truth, good on him, particularly if it is inconvenient truth.

Pedophiles are attracted to children whether married or not. Marriage for priests would do nothing to alter that fact.
