Many of former President Donald Trump’s closest allies in Congress — and rumored vice presidential contenders — described a “depressing” and dreary scene in the former president’s Manhattan courtroom during exclusive interviews with the Daily Caller.
Since his trial began in April, a number of allies from the House and Senate have visited Trump in court to show their support as he and his campaign are restricted by a gag order from New York State Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan. The gag order has hamstrung his campaign, preventing the GOP nominee from speaking about individuals like Matthew Colangelo, a lead prosecutor in the case who spent two years

WASHINGTON - U.S. President Joe Biden's public approval rating this month fell to its lowest level in almost two years, tying the lowest reading of his presidency in a warning sign for his reelection effort, a Reuters/Ipsos poll showed.
The four-day poll, which closed on Monday, showed just 36% of Americans approve of Biden's job performance as president, down from 38% in April. It was a return to the lowest approval rating of his presidency, last seen in July 2022. While this month's drop was within the poll's 3 percentage point margin of error, it could bode poorly for Biden as he faces off with Republican Donald Trump

Last week, after months of uncertainty and conjecture, the Biden campaign finally broke its silence on the issue of participating in presidential debates. However, rather than going through the Presidential Debates Commission, Biden's team proposed direct negotiations with the Trump campaign for two debates: one slated for June and another for September, under terms that were transparently designed to benefit Joe Biden.
The funniest thing about the debate challenge was that Biden tried to flip the script by accusing Trump of ducking debates and acting all macho about it.

The proposal led by Rep. Jamie Raskin and Sen. Democrats say Trump brazenly ignored the clause as president as foreign government officials flocked to his hotels and properties.

Playing the Veepstakes guessing game is often a losing one for analysts. Vice-presidential selection is ultimately a highly personal choice, and it is simply too difficult to venture into the mind of one individual and mimic their thought process. Perhaps more importantly, Republican presidential nominees haven’t made the obvious choice for vice president since Ronald Reagan chose George Bush in 1980. Dan Quayle, Jack Kemp, Dick Cheney, Sarah Palin, Paul Ryan, and even Mike Pence were all somewhat “out-of-left-field” selections for their respective presidential candidates.
It is tempting to say that the journey into the mind of a presidential candidate is

At least, that's the implication from Iran, which needed a couple of days to get its story straight and blame "Western sanctions" on the poor quality of its helicopters, which led to Raisi's untimely demise. That talking point is now floating around, thanks to friendly media outlets willing to overlook (if not actually cheer on) Iran being a country run by very bad people.

Kennedy, a one-time Democrat turned third-party insurgent, was speaking on a recent episode of his podcast with John Boyd Jr., founder of the National Black Farmers Association.
Boyd Jr. is behind an effort to sue the Biden administration for watering down a proposed debt relief program aimed at helping people of color and 'socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers' in the agriculture industry.

Illegal immigrants are apparently paying attention to political poll numbers in the United States.
Many of them are afraid that Trump is going to win in November and they’re rushing to the border as a result. They’re afraid that the free-for-all they have enjoyed under Biden will be all over and the border will finally come to an end.
Say what you will about these people, but they’re not stupid. They know Biden is in their corner and that Trump is serious about border security.
The New York Post reported: Migrants rushing to cross border now in case Biden loses in November: ‘We don’t want Trump’

Democratic strategist James Carville said Monday on MSNBC’s “Inside” that there was only a 50% chance the presidential debates happen.
Host Jen Psaki said, “What you think Biden needs to do in this debate?” Carville said, “He needs to hit this abortion issue home. That is the first thing he should do. I’m not going to point to the Supreme Court. I’m not going to complain about the Supreme Court operating under the same ethics rules. The one issue I would kick hard. I wonder why it is not being kicked hard, is this billion dollar donation on the right to energy policies in the United States.

An investigation from the Senate Finance Committee revealed that a few European-based automakers imported either cars or auto parts made using Chinese slave labor to the United States.
The investigation, published Monday, was led by Chairman Ron Wyden (D-OR) who accused automakers of “sticking their heads in the sand and then swearing they can’t find any forced labor in their supply chains.”
In January of this year, the investigation discovered that a shipment of Volkswagen vehicles made for the U.S. market included auto parts deriving from a Chinese supplier presumptively using slave labor and thus banned by the federal government under the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA).

An influential, fiscally conservative and libertarian political advocacy group will work with gas stations across the country this week to remind Americans what the price at the pump was four years ago. On Monday, Americans for Prosperity (AFP) will host the first of a series of events that will roll back gas prices from coast to coast "to get a pre-Bidenomics break at the pump." More than 20 gas stations will participate throughout this week, temporarily reducing prices to as low as $2.38 per gallon – near the average price per gallon of gas on the day President Biden assumed office. Amal Clooney played a key role in arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar.
If her name sounds familiar it is because she is the wife of actor George Clooney. She advised the International Criminal Court (ICC) in favor of issuing the warrants.
The fact that Israel is accused of crimes against humanity when it is fighting for its survival against the internationally recognized terror organization that massacred Israelis and others on October 7, 2023, is unbelievable. Equating Israel and Hamas is unacceptable. How would any reasonable person argue that Israel is the same as Hamas unless that person was an anti-Israel, anti-Jew antisemitic?

As long as lithium ion battery plants spontaneously combust and spew clouds of poisonous chemicals into the air, I don’t ever want to hear a progressive Democrat—voter, pundit, or politician—lecture me on the wildfires and “climate change” crises they swear are caused by my use of modest personal amenities.
On a tip from Monica Showalter comes this story, from the former paradise of southern California and The San Diego Union-Tribune (SDUT):
Fire flares up again at battery storage facility in Otay Mesa
An unpredictable blaze that sparked at a battery storage facility on Wednesday in Otay Mesa picked up again Thursday night
