Momentum is building in a case regarding homeless encampments that will be argued before the U.S. Supreme Court next month and could have major implications for cities as homelessness nationwide has reached record highs. Dozens of briefs have been filed in recent days, including from the Department of Justice, members of Congress and state attorneys general. They joined the growing number of western state and local officials who have submitted briefs urging the justices to overturn a controversial lower court decision they say has prevented them from addressing homeless encampments.

The Court should say that homeless encampments can continue to exist only in California and in cities self-designated as "Sanctuary Cities". Anywhere else you can clean them out and provide the vagrants bus tickets to San Francisco.

Just my humble opinion....I believe there should be NO Homeless Camps in any State in this Country. The folks who say they are voluntarily homeless should either go to Jail or be located in a building, set aside, for homeless. They should NOT be allowed to live on the Streets, in the Forest or anywhere else. That said, I think it is pretty obvious there are accommodations available for the new influx of illegals. Why not move them out and move the Homeless in? The Illegals will be told to move along. They should find their own housing along with a job, or move to another state that can provide those things for them. THEY should not be allowed to live on the Streets, in Airports or in any other Public Building. If they can't find a place to live, they should be deported. Time to get serious as to WHO exactly should be helped out and who should not qualify for the free housing, meals and Gift Cards! Sick and tired of people who run this country not using Common Sense!

Millions of illegals walking across the border looking for a home might be part of the problem. Do we have any limits any more?

Do not be surprised if this court sided with the bums. They have already sanctioned sleeping in public spaces if shelters are not available. If they do let’s hope that a large encampment sprouts up on the Supreme Court grounds and in their neighborhoods.

We used to roust the bums and run them out of town, and the psychos were put into mental hospitals, no knobs in the inside of the doors. Those were better solutions than letting bums and psychos live everywhere, crap everywhere, rob as they choose, and generally wreck business and life for normal people. "Supporting" homeless gets you more of it. Rousting them and running them out of town....perhaps some of them would find some work and get back on their feet.

It's discouraging to see LDotters who apparently still do not know that the chaos we see, including "homeless) (used to be called vagrants, correctly) and illegal invasion are not the result of incompetence or lack of common sense. This is all part of deliberate plans to transform this country and Western culture into the nightmare dreams of Lenin, Obama, and their agents such as the Chinese government, the World Economic Forum, anarchists, the eco-fascists, and all their ilk. They want to destroy this country and all other nominally-free countries and their citizens. It's not that Biden is doing "nothing". Doing "nothing" is actually doing something, which is to facilitate the death of Western civilization.

Vagrants. They are vagrants. How does our side expect to defeat the enemy when we willingly go along with their control of the language. They are not "homeless". They are VAGRANTS. This country used to know how to deal with vagrants.

If they haven't been convicted of a crime, how is any action, "cruel and unusual"? Like any unregistered crowd, Law Enforcement has an obligation to ask them not to loiter and arrest and detain them if they refuse. Local authorities must make provision to house them, though it need not be expensive. If they fail to maintain provided shelter, or indulge in crime, then, Law Enforcement (and CPS in some cases) , can take harsher measures. This is similar to the issues during the Great Depression. How did they handle it then?

Palestinian Islamic Jihad is calling for Ramadan to be a “month of terror” and seeks to escalate attacks in the West Bank and Gaza. In a recent speech, Abu Hamza, the spokesman for PIJ’s Al-Quds Brigades, said he wants Arab countries in the region and pro-Iranian groups to continue to “unify” various arenas and fronts against Israel. This is the latest indication that terrorist groups plan to seek an escalation in hostilities over the next month. Hamza’s remarks were published by Beirut-based Al Mayadeen news channel, which is pro-Iranian and frequently highlights Hamas and Hezbollah attacks.

Meanwhile in the Democrat hellhole of California… Illegal aliens will get interest-free home mortgage loans under a new California bill. Democrat assemblymember Joaquin Arambula (Fresno) recently introduced Assembly Bill 1840 to extend a first-time homebuyer loan program to illegal aliens. If the bill becomes law, illegal aliens will be eligible for a new program that offers a loan worth 20% of the purchase price of the residential property. There are no monthly payments and no interest accrues on the loan. Rather, the loan is paid back when the borrower refinances or sells the property.

Inflation has changed the way many Americans shop. Now, those changes in consumer habits are helping bring down inflation. Fed up with prices that remain about 19%, on average, above where they were before the pandemic, consumers are fighting back. In grocery stores, they're shifting away from name brands to store-brand items, switching to discount stores or simply buying fewer items like snacks or gourmet foods. More Americans are buying used cars, too, rather than new, forcing some dealers to provide discounts on new cars again.

Burning coal to make electricity generates significantly more carbon pollution than using natural gas for the same purpose. But a new bill drafted by Sutton Republican Rep. George Rauscher still seeks to define coal-generated electricity as “clean energy” — putting it on the same footing as wind, solar, tidal and hydroelectric power. The proposed legislation, House Bill 368, is Rauscher’s bid to advance an energy policy debate that has otherwise stalled at the Alaska Capitol. “There’s a reality to keeping the lights on and keeping everybody warm today,” Rauscher said. “As opposed to the vision of what we’re going to have in the future.”

A new hostage deal between Israel and Hamas could be in the works, war cabinet minister Benny Gantz declared on Monday, but if the sides fail to reach an agreement Israel will invade the southern Gaza city of Rafah over Ramadan. There are “initial signs that indicate the possibility of moving forward” on a new framework, Gantz told reporters during a press conference at IDF headquarters in Tel Aviv, pledging to “leave no stone unturned” in the effort to free those kidnapped on October 7. He did not offer further details, but unconfirmed reports in Arabic media Wednesday claimed Hamas had softened its position somewhat,

A federal judge in Orange County has dismissed criminal charges for the second time in five years against accused members of a Southern California white nationalist group suspected of inciting fights at political rallies across the state. US District Judge Cormac J. Carney on Wednesday dismissed charges against Robert Rundo — who was extradited from Romania last year — and Robert Bowman from Torrance. Rundo is accused of being a founding member of the Rise Above Movement, or RAM, a white supremacist group that describes itself as “a combat-ready, militant group of a new nationalist white supremacy and identity movement,”

Joe Biden's administration has admitted transporting migrants on secret flights into the U.S. and lawyers for its immigration agencies claim revealing the locations could create national security 'vulnerabilities'. Customs and Border Protection has refused to disclose information about a program last year secretly arranging flights for thousands of undocumented immigrants from foreign airports directly to U.S. cities. It means that while record numbers of migrants were flowing over the southern border last year, the Biden White House was also directly transporting them into the country. Use of a cell phone app has allowed for the near undetected arrival by air of 320,000 aliens with no legal rights

Hochul announced Wednesday she is deploying 1,000 additional law enforcement officers to the subway, including 750 New York National Guard members and 250 members of law enforcement. Adams ordered an additional 1,000 law enforcement officials to patrol the subway in February after the city saw a 45% increase in crime in January compared to January of last year. “We know people feel unsafe,” Adams said. “We are reinstituting bag checks. There are several things we are reinstituting in the system.”

There is a new twist in the Fani Willis-Nathan Wade legal saga after a co-chief deputy district attorney for Cobb County claimed key witness Terrence Bradley lied about his knowledge of Willis and Wade's relationship. While there has been no ruling on Willis' disqualification, legal scholar Jonathan Turley questioned on "America's Newsroom" Tuesday why the pair has not "stepped aside" as their legal quagmire worsens "by the day." JONATHAN TURLEY: It was painful to watch. It had that look of a hostage tape, where he was just saying, 'I know nothing, I heard nothing. If I said anything, I didn't mean it.'

That may change down the road, we'll have to wait and see. She did offer her congratulations to Trump and wished him well. Haley liked to say that her campaign was not all about her, that it was not personal. She said she was running for the sake of America.
