The Supreme Court didn’t dig into the weeds of the entire insurrection debate, but one obvious issue with the various efforts to remove Trump from the ballot in various states was that insurrection had been left entirely to Democrat state officials to define. That kind of nonsense however won’t fly in an actual legislative process.
Now that the Supreme Court blocked state officials from announcing that Trump can’t be on the ballot because he’s an “insurrectionist”, House members are now trying to play the same game.
Congress will have to try and act,” Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), the ranking member of the House Oversight Committee, told Axios.

You might think that the leftists who run California would be worried about the rapid decline of that state, but no: they are doing all they can to accelerate it. In the Wall Street Journal, Heather Mac Donald outlines California’s latest descent into racialist madness:
"What would happen if lawmakers reinvented the criminal-justice system to target 'systemic racism' instead of crime? California is about to find out. Thanks to a 2020 law called the California Racial Justice Act, every felon serving time in the state’s prisons and jails can now retroactively challenge his conviction and sentencing on the ground of systemic bias.
To prevail, the incarcerated prisoner need not show that

Do you know what the problem with capitalism is? It doesn't want to sell stuff to people. Calling it "a late-capitalism horror story," the Washington Post's Maura Judkis might have just written the stupidest possible piece about Blue America's state-sponsored shoplifting craze. "America is a sticky-fingered nation built on stolen land," Judkis scolded her readers on Friday to their self-loathing delight, "and its current moral panic is about shoplifting."
Judkis tells the story of Washington's Columbia Heights shoplifter-beloved CVS location, where by last week, there was "almost nothing left to steal... and that gives you an idea of which items have actual value."

Bernie Moreno, who is running in the hotly contested Republican primary for the Ohio Senate seat currently held by radical Democrat Sherrod Brown, claims to be pro-Second Amendment. It says it right there on his website, where he claims he will "Vigorously defend our constitutional rights, especially the Second Amendment." How, then, to explain him mocking gun owners and calling for universal background checks in a 2019 podcast?
Moreno, who former President Trump has endorsed, joined Michael Hudak on his podcast "Fortify Your Data," the conversation veered toward political issues. Moreno was the first to bring up guns.

Joe Biden's Attorney General, Merrick Garland, has made clear his intention to make America's elections less secure, describing efforts to secure them as "burdensome and unnecessary." Garland made the remarks at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Selma, Alabama, during a commemoration of 'Bloody Sunday' when civil rights protesters were brutally attacked by police.
He also accused federal courts of weakening the 1965 Voting Rights Act by allowing various common sense voting restrictions such as presenting identification on arrival.
He explained: "Since those decisions, there has been a dramatic increase in legislative measures that make it harder for millions of eligible voters to vote

The far-left website The Intercept was very excited on Friday about CNN being accused in an internal meeting of having a "pronounced pro-Israel bias." Actual pro-Israel media watchdogs like CAMERA would disagree.
The headline?
"In internal meeting, Christiane Amanpour Confronts CNN Brass About 'Double Standards' on Israel Coverage
Amanpour expressed 'real distress' over Israel stories being changed, while other staffers described a climate that is hostile to Arab journalists." In an hourlong meeting with CNN boss Mark Thompson and other executives in the London bureau on February 13, "staffers took turns questioning a panel of executives about CNN’s protocols for covering the war in Gaza and what they describe as a hostile climate

Thus far, 2024 has not been a banner year if you want to be employed as a journalist in the mainstream media. January featured layoffs at the Los Angeles Times, Sports Illustrated, Time, National Geographic, and Business Insider. Downsizing at cable news networks, usually unheard of in an election year, continues, and even National Public Radio has cut staff. Many longtime reporters at places such as the Washington Post have taken buyouts as the newspaper struggles to restructure its business model.
Jack Shafer of Politico captured the current mood well: “Journalists across the country burst into flames of panic this week, as bad news for the news business crested

One scarcely knows where to begin in documenting the errors, scandals, and misadventures of Justin Trudeau’s Liberal regime. The problem is, one scarcely knows where to end. The outrages just keep on coming. Trudeau has come in for much caustic criticism of late, as a growing number of ordinary citizens and the independent media have expressed their justified suspicion and resentment of an overbearing and increasingly despotic administration. The issues at stake are features, not bugs. The list of noxious measures, lapses, and deeds that tarnish Trudeau’s record include:
the selling-out of Canada’s national identity
the daunting number of scandals and ethics violations the many vacations on the public dime

Democrats are in an outright state of panic following the latest poll from the New York Times and Siena College.
As RedState reported, Donald Trump leads Joe Biden by five points, with the results clocking in at 48 to 43 percent. Driving the current president's woes is his deep unpopularity, which sits at -21 percent. (X) This isn't just some random poll. This is the Times' largest and longest-running effort every cycle and the survey that its election analysts use to base their predictions. The topline number isn't the only one that's shocking either. Trump's overall lead is built on big gains with minority voters and women, two demographics

The tactics of climate activists are changing, no longer satisfied with throwing tomato soup on Vincent Van Gogh's "Sunflowers" in October and pumpkin soup on the mysterious lady portrayed in da Vinci's "Mona Lisa." In January, activists showed up at the National Archives and decided to pour red powder on the display case holding the U.S. Constitution. Archives security stood by while these nutcases ranted on and on about the evil U.S. and how EVERYONE IS GOING TO DIE!! unless we stop using our cars and don't go to work anymore IMMEDIATELY.
Finally, the DC police showed up and hauled them off to jail. If they thought they were going

I understood from the Star Tribune headline over the AP story yesterday that the IDF had massacred some 100 Gazans seeking food and water. As of this morning, the AP is sticking with the story with a Rafah dateline. It leads with this observation: “Israeli troops fired on a crowd of Palestinians racing to pull food off an aid convoy in Gaza City on Thursday, witnesses said.”
I’m not sure about the massacre. Deep into the story we hear from the ever reliable “Gaza Health Ministry.” The AP reports: “At least 112 people were killed, Gaza Health Ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qidra said. The ministry described it as a ‘massacre’

It's officially unofficial that Presidentish Joe Biden will make an unannounced visit to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center now that the announcement has been made by the White House. Literally every lead sentence I write at the top of a story about Biden is more absurd than the previous one — and we still have at least 10 more months of this nonsense to go.
Some — such as yours truly and the not-awful members of the White House Press Corpse [sic] (and I'm looking at you, Peter Doocy) — are more concerned with the alleged president's cognitive health than we are about his physical health.
