The verdict in former President Donald Trump’s civil fraud trial in Manhattan that could see him banned for life from doing business in New York has been delayed until mid-February, according to a court spokesperson.
Justice Arthur Engoron said during the trial’s closing arguments on Jan. 11 that he hoped to make his final decision by Jan. 31 in a much-anticipated verdict that could, in addition to hitting the former president with a lifetime business ban, see him fined $370 million.

Trump would be wise to sell (profitably, of course) his business assets in the state. Screw em.
As the Bible says, shake the dust of that town off his sandals on the way outta town.

Trump is a patient, tolerant man..... I'd have already sold and gone "Wyatt's Torch" with whatever I couldn't sell on everything I owned in New York.

NYC is chasing out what is probably its largest remaining source of tax revenue. Trump doesn't need NYC. NYC needs Trump. Typical dumbass Democrats doing what amazingly stupid Democrats do!!

Legal restrictions on a person's means of making a living are not favored in the USA. This equity principle goes back to the Magna Carta in England.

Baloney. The verdict was not delayed. It was made before the indictment was even written. Guilty.

What kind of bullshit is this in the United States of America in 2024? Who the hell does this goofy judge think he is to assume he has this kind of imperial power? When is the Supreme Court going to step in and re-establish the constitutional limits of the law and the limited powers of the judiciary.

So it’s now a crime to get an appraisal with which a judge disagrees in NY.
Anyone who owns anything there or does business there is an idiot.

Roland Freisler is not through with 45. No surprise. His 15 minutes of infamy are not up. The courts of appeals should have a field day with this trial.

These charges and this trial are a joke. The verdict will be too. It will be immediately appealed and should end up with the SC. If these idiots can do this to Trump they can do it to anybody. This judge is unqualified to even make a ruling on asset appraisals, especially for loans that were fully repaid. Not only would New York take a huge hit to tax revenue, any other business owner with any sense would flee the State.

Judge Engoron might have actually woken up to the political and public ramifications of his verdict. He must punish Trump but can't seem too biased. And if he bans him from doing business in NY, how will he pay his fines? He is trying to limit the damage to himself.

He's clearly already made his decision. What a kangaroo court proceeding! This is nothing short of a Soviet "Show Trial" against a former U.S. President. They gear him just that much.

a ban would likely be a blessing - though I'm sure they will still want him to pay taxes

Perhaps judge engorged is having doubts about his legacy being Unserious Unrestrained Hatred.
Doubtful. But using The Law against one's political or personal enemies is not a good look, and it looks worse and worse as time goes by. To quote Kamel A Hairass, time passing is like time going by in our lives every day in every way each day a little more.
Maybe he'll go for Unserious Slightly Restrained Hatred.

It is as plain as the nose on a face, [they] are trying to steal all his money so he cannot fund a campaign.
AND NY is shooting itself in the foot - they need him & his money a helluva lot more than he needs them!

The judge is waiting for his orders. If New York bans Trump, he should just shutdown everything he owns and abandon it. Don't be surprised if the state takes over or 'gives' Trump's holdings to one of their own.

The never Trumpers are really frightened of President Trump...and are trying to take away his assets by fraud court findings....every builder that resides in New York needs to close up shop and leave New York....in addition to the thousands that have already left....and there goes the governor's money base...bye--bye.....

In the meantime President Trump has paid out $50 million in attorneys' fees and may be running short of money. Only ones doing well in this are the attorneys.

Judge Engoron liberally translates to Engorge on Trump Hate. Good way to end his judicial career, and I applaud him for being such a jerk-wad until the last. Not many of us can hate so unrelentingly.

No one was harmed in the transaction, so no one has standing, so there is no reason to hold a trial.
Nuff said.
