It is belaboring the obvious to note that a constitutional right should not be conditional and subject to taxation, but a Maryland politician is proposing exactly that. Predictably, anti-Second Amendment Maryland Delegate Terri Hill is proposing to require prospective legal CCW holders to provide proof of a $300k insurance policy before being allowed to carry.
Gun owners in Maryland would be required to buy at least $300,000 in liability insurance or forfeit their ability to carry a firearm under a new bill.
The controversial legislation, introduced by Delegate Terri Hill, D-Howard County, would prohibit the "wear or carry" of a gun anywhere in the state

The democrats could not possibly care less about the constitution! Like the southern border, the democrats will ignore the second amendment if We, the People let them! It is up to us, not the rogue federal government to keep the constitution intact!
Please read up on other countries throughout history that surrendered their weapons! Not a desirable outcome to say the least!

This would have a disproportionate effect on blacks, who have the greatest need to carry firearms, as they tend to be poorer and have less access to insurance.
He must be a bigot.

The Supreme Court many, many, years ago decided this issue when it said that 'the power to tax involves the power to destroy' when the government tried to tax newspapers in McCulloch vs Maryland in 1819. Won't fly.

I have friends in Maryland, and visiting them is surreal. Talking about normal subjects is fine, but if politics or guns come up, they lower their voices and look over their shoulders before agreeing or commenting at all. Sometimes they tell me to keep my voice down. It is truly an occupied state. Cops seem to be everywhere.
Much as I love them, I sure breathe a sigh of relief when I get back to my free state.

They're also trying to pass legislation to tax gun manufacturers to pay for the cost of medical care caused by gun shootings.

What is that one little statement in some obscure piece of paper, oh ya, I think it's the 'Bill of Wrongs,' oh, never mind, it was that pesky "Bill of Rights" and that small statement says an awful lot. You know the one that states..."Shall not be infringed." That one makes them purchase insurance that will bankrupt them into submission. That by any's ones definition, this is 'infringement.'

Having been a CCW in Maryland for well over 20 years prior to moving to PA, I can tell you unequivocally that it's not the CCW people who are causing the harm with Fire Arms. It's garbage like Terri Hill who do not prosecute criminals who are the problem!
