LAS VEGAS — Channel 13 has obtained video of a Clark County District Court judge being violently attacked by a man during a hearing on Wednesday morning. The man involved in the attack is Delone Redden, who was being sentenced for aggravated battery with substantial bodily harm prior to the attack on Judge Mary Kay Holthus. He entered a guilty plea in a previous hearing. The video shows Judge Holthus denying Redden's request for probation due to his criminal history and preparing to sentence him to jail time. Redden can be seen then leaping over the judge's bench to tackle her.

The article says the judge was punched. “Her condition is being monitored.” A marshal was injured. He was transported to a hospital.
The criminal is a savage. He deserves 20 years, no parole.

The man looks like he is not worried about consequences. What would he have done to an innocent person outside the court environment?

Does any state still have "three strikes and you're out" laws, especially to deal with violent felons? Delone Redden has been arrested many times, and is an uncontrollable individual. He belongs in prison for the rest of his life. He could have killed that judge right there on her judicial bench. Stop tolerating violent crime or we will be covered up with it.

I looked, and yes, it was one of the usual suspects, jumping over the bench and attacking this Judge.
The judge looked like she just got up and forgot to comb her hair that morning.

Putting aside Mr. Redden is a criminal. That was a pretty good athletic move.

The lawless truly are dangerous! Clearly this individual lost any respect for law and order long ago. Apparently, prison isn't enough of a disincentive. Pray for protection of judges at all levels!

This is the natural consequence of teaching violent felons that their arrests have nothing to do with their actions, but is a result of "raaaaacism." When they finally get some well-deserved consequences, they're outraged.

Courtroom Security was non-existent. I'll go out on a limb, and predict that's about to change.

I guess the perp thought that wearing the St. George Floyd sweatshirt to court would get him a “get out of jail free” card. Bad decision. Very bad.

The general trend in criminals of this category is that they are stupid, violent and guided by childish emotions. Attacking a judge who is about to sentence you is a guarantee that you have just made things worse for yourself. Aside from the attack he would be a good candidate for the NFL. That desk was higher than the average defensive lineman,.

I am guessing that if a bailiff was required to put his knee on the perps neck to subdue him, the judge woulda been just fine with that.

#6 agreed!
In addition to new charges of assault and battery, the perpetrator should be given a 15 yard penalty for roughing the passer.

Add about 10 extra years onto whatever his sentence was going to be. Animals like this need to be kept away from normal people.

Any Judge worth his or her salt will now sentence the perpetrator with a minimum ten year sentence for attacking that judge with no possibility of parole, to be served after the other sentences he is sure to receive for his prior felony offenses.

This is not the first time a defendant was surprised that they were not getting off scott free.
Look for armed bailiffs and shackled defendants at the next session of court.
Don't be surprised if the judge sentences the next jaywalker to five years in prison.
