n Pete Buttigieg's reality, EVs dominate

Original Article

Real reality-based Americans have been watching the increasingly downward spiral of electric vehicles and their associated PR machine with relief and pleasure. The venerable axiom “what cannot go on, won’t” applies. However, one of the fruits by which democrats/Socialists/Communists may be known is also their defining characteristic: they create their own reality and try to force others to live in it. So it is with Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, who is, by the way, gay. You don’t have to ask him

Comments:

Buttboy's "reality" isn't the world that the rest of us live in.
In the REAL world.....well, the author points out the facts of EVs, which are very different than the government fantasies.

So Petie cannot get the trains or planes to work on schedule, but he wants us to support EV's. Please note that they are so heavy that they cannot be put in a parking garage because they would cause it to collapse and they will tear up our roads because of their weight but HE thinks we are good to go.

FTA: you almost never meet somebody who has an EV who says, I want to back to the old technology.” Buttgig hasn't been following the industry's news sheets. Electrics are not moving and are being scrapped for the slightest fender bender. To expensive to fix. There aren't enough techs to fix them Liability (fires?) after a repair keeps mechanics from touching them.

The advantage of gasoline is that you can carry it in a gallon can. If your electric-powered car battery loses its charge, can you carry a charging station back to your car if marooned on a lonely country road?

Also, with care and a long hose, one can siphon gas from a helpful passerby's car's tank. This can be extremely helpful if no filling stations are nearby.

I see what the writer did there, using "fruits" in the same paragraph with Pete Buttigieg. Comparing an EV one on one to an ICE vehicle is damaging enough but when you talk of them in the realm of infrastructure, that's where it all falls apart. Pete's wildly delusional estimate of half and half in EV vs ICE vehicle purchases is ridiculous but there will never be a complete replacement and they all know it. EVs are a short term phenomenon to attempt to placate the leftist-voting greenies but their death is inevitable. Electric motors have a place in children's toys and WW2 era submarines but that's about it.

A necessary prerequisite to working in the Resident's "administration" is to live serenely in an alternative universe where absolutely nonsensical ideas are believed to be "settled science" or at least settled facts. Needless to say those who live in this universe do not appreciate when their ideas are challenged because in reality they do not have the ability to defend them.

Re #7, sadly, cars built in the last 10-15 years can't be siphoned from. Their filler necks and tank design preclude it. I haven't personally attempted this in anything newer than about 2000, but the one I tried then defeated my attempts....my own vehicle, trying to lighten the tank to drop it out to replace the pump. This was a 2003 F-150 pickup. Others have told me that it's no longer possible since about 2000, but I am not sure. It used to be easy and convenient to be able to do this. I'm pretty sure it isn't possible now.

Separating fact from fiction on ‘climate change’ 6 replies
Posted by DVC 1/3/2024 1:41:59 PM Post Reply
Why is it easier to find lies in the media about “climate change” than truthful information? Why is honest reporting on the environment an outlier instead of a rule? Media parrots have said for decades that humans, and our use of natural resources are killing the planet, and that oceans, species, and forests are dying. They report on future predictions, but rarely on scientific facts—so I thought I would fill the vacuum. We have been told that we are responsible for irredeemable destruction in the Great Barrier Reef, but that is not true. The reef is making a “comeback,” yet we don’t see that story

It was once a commonsense belief and universal truth that men and women, boys and girls, are different, especially in the realm of athletics. With rare exceptions, men and women compete in their own categories, from high school level through college to the Olympic games and professional sports. Mixed competitions place women and men on the same team, such as mixed doubles in tennis, or dancing, either in the ballroom, or on ice. Equestrian sports are an exception, but the fact that a horse is a major part of the sport reduces the sex difference between competitors.

Should our government decide “our democracy” is in imminent danger and it’s necessary to suppress dangerous insurrectionists like Catholics and soccer moms, would America’s federal, state and local police play along? It has long been common knowledge Federal agencies have been stockpiling enormous quantities of mil-spec arms, ammunition and other gear. Agencies like the Railroad Retirement Board, Department of Education and Fish and Wildlife Service have automatic weapon-armed SWAT teams. Apparently, railroad retirees, federal education grant applicants and Trout are a greater threat to “our democracy” than anyone imagined. Let’s evaluate the real potential threat:

Presidential candidate Nikki Haley, like most of us, doesn’t like chaos. She’d prefer that America be an orderly, law-abiding, harmonious nation. Unfortunately, that is no longer the America in which we live. But in her condemnation of “chaos,” Haley confuses correlation with causation, and is using our current turmoil to attack Donald Trump. At a campaign stop in Bluffton, South Carolina, she said: I agree with a lot of his policies, but the truth is, rightly or wrongly, chaos follows him (Trump). We have too much division in this country, and too many threats around the world to be sitting in chaos once again.

Why there is no 'Israeli-Palestinian conflict'

We often hear the phrase, 'Israeli-Palestinian conflict' everywhere - in the media, from Israeli officials, written in articles, repeated by foreign policy think tanks, and U.S. politicians. It is ubiquitous. They are all incorrect. A 'conflict' indicates two equal sides laying credible claim over a disputed issue. Thus, the false phrase equates Jews with terrorists and terrorist supporters. And, the incorrect saying plays into revisionist history in an antisemitic fashion. Terrorists and their supporters claim that Israel 'stole' 'Palestine.' But 'Palestine' was nothing more than a colonizer's term for Judea from 136 A.D. - to when Jews liberated Israel in 1948 from British occupiers.

However, in the “credit where credit is due” department, Blinken deserves props for saying something important: Namely, that a world that insistently demands that Israel surrender in this war does not make any such demands on Hamas. It’s impossible for me to give a simple answer if I can dream up a more complicated one. So bear with me. I think determination of whether a movie fits the Christmas genre depends on more than its musical score and the timing of its release. The plot has to include certain critical elements common to all Christmas movies.
