Georgia Institute of Technology must pay half a million dollars in civil penalties for running a job recruitment platform that included postings that excluded non-citizens.
The settlement came after a “lawful permanent resident” student filed a complaint with the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division. (snip)
The DOJ investigation determined the public university violated the Immigration and Nationality Act. A total of $1.6 million fines were levied against 30 employers who advertised citizens-only jobs on the platform.

Does this mean that critical top secret jobs must be opened to 'citizens' from around the world?

That is a state school paid for by Georgia taxpayers. It is not a charity for foreigners.

In the 80's my sister lived in Panama as her husband was in the Air Force. She got a defense IT job. Her boss became ill and had to leave. My sister was the only one who qualified for the job because she's a US citizen. Otherwise, she didn't have the required qualifications for the job.

What part of the words "illegal alien" does the DOJ not understand?

Isn't the term in #4 now classified as hate speech? Snowflakes argued that "alien" is dehumanizing, plus "no human being is illegal" (not even a murderer? ridiculous.)

There is a difference between an illegal alien and a non citizen who is here legally. Any one even vaguely familiar with Georgia Tech or many other universities knows that they have many faculty, staff, administrators, and students who are non citizens. This is nit picking with a bank that requires that interns be citizens. Don't have a problem with it. But if you went to Intel, AMD, Google, etc. you'd find lots of non citizens. That's just the world we live in. My problem is that I don't believe that non citizens have constitutional rights because they aren't citizens. But what do I know? I used to think we had freedom of speech, etx.

It is illegal to hire illegals and yet the Communist DOJ is fining them $500,000 dollars for obeying the law. This is going to end badly.

This should be overturned on appeal.

#8 - Georgia Tech is stuck with this because they agreed to pay the money as part of a voluntary settlement, so there is no avenue available for an appeal.

When I applied for a job as an engineer with the US Geological Survey back in 1978, I had to prove that I was a US Citizen.
Just sayin'.

Second Thought:
On the other hand, during The HornDog's reign, Chinese Communist 'exchange scientists' were employed at the Los Alamos National Lab atomic-bomb design facility. They were restricted to the 'non-classified' part of the facility. Then The HornDog's Secretary of Energy, who happened to be a black woman (and a screaming Racist Leftist) raised a big stink because the badges were color-coded as to what areas a person was allowed into. She loudly declared that this was RAAACCCIIISSSSTTT. Soon after, all the badges were revised to look the same. Funny coincidence, within a year the Chinese Communists had 'acquired' the designs to the W87 and W88 miniaturized atomic warheads, the most advanced warheads in the US arsenal at the time.
Funny coincidence, how that happened..... and just at the same time that The HornDog transferred authority to export the rocket guidance systems from the State Dept., who refused to export them, to the Commerce Department, who promptly OK's the sale of the guidance systems to the ChiComs, so that they could 'make launching satellites more economical' (by undercutting Lockheed and Boeing for launch contracts.) Another odd coincidence.... those same guidance systems, reprogrammed, could be used to guide ChiCom ICBM's -now armed with the copycat W87 and W88 warheads- precisely onto American cities.
Oh, another odd coincidence, I understand that The HornDog received some rather generous campaign contributions from an anonymous source.

I thought it was illegal to hire non citizens unless they are on a green card or something...? Of course Biden can wave laws to continue the border wall now, so who knows?!
