The electric vehicle honeymoon is over. Don’t expect the marriage itself to last much longer either.
The mass conversion from internal combustion engine vehicles (ICEs) to electric vehicles was never more than a Democrat/environmentalist hallucination anyway. It was the most ill-conceived government policy objective in modern history.
The transition should have been a non-starter. It’s riddled with numerous deal killers. It’s like having a dozen fatal diseases all at the same time.
Any goal as massive as a total conversion from ICE vehicles to EVs requires careful planning and infrastructure preparation. It would necessitate a rapid doubling of electricity generation and grid expansion.

Stay away, far away from automobile stocks. Maybe Toyota because that company seems to have some sense, but for the rest like Ford or GM, the executive suites are filled with EV crazies. A three minute fillup to go 300 miles is an electrical dream that will not happen for decades if ever. In the meantime, proven American petroleum reserves have increased, not decreased since the war. What war, you ask? Try the Spanish American war with Bill McKinley in charge. We've had some serious scraps since his time needing petroleum, but wells are still full. Long Beach, California wells helped defeat the Japanese 78 years ago. Oil is still there. BTW, the oil tar pits on Wilshire still ooze after thousands of years. A stray Canadian goose recently fell in and died in the muck.

This article is written as if the people pushing EV's care. Here's a hint Ron, they don't.

The Democrats have proven that you can indeed fool most of the people most of the time, and should that fail, just change rules, definitions or CHEAT.

It appears that the dems have turned everything on its head by somehow inserting sex into the equation. Normal sex, perhaps, but they seem to be fascinated by the weirdness of how some many different ways one performs and the earlier the better. So in their continued lurch to the left they have actually turned their need for EV heaven into an unsatisfying wet dream. God I hate these people.

It should be interesting when the sales mandates for EVs kick in for California and a few others. Dealers will required to sell a certain percentage of EVs. 20%, then 30% - eventually 100%. The marketplace will respond with much higher costs for Non-EVs since their supply will be artificially restricted.

The free market should allow the purchase of battery cars, diesel cars, gasoline cars..and more, without the heavy hand of gov playing favorites. The last time gov selected a car technology, the transpo fuel was to be hydrogen. Bazillions later, decades later..oh well. Now it’s batteries…and we only have three years left before global warming kills us. The hard truth, as the author notes, is that the supply chain for battery components, capital investments and even for copper, will limit EV transition…even if EV’s are right. I do disagree with this author on several points…LFP batteries do not runaway, and the lithium is recyclable. Supercharge/battery speeds are getting close tp standard gasoline stop patterns on the road, and of course in town batteries can be charged at homel. Clearly, for the majority of ev suppliers will find buyers to be scant. But…as Tesla is showing…where else can you get a 1000 hp spacious sports car with very high “fuel”:economy and low maintenance costs for a price well below existing sports cars?

The majority of people knew this was a pipe dream all along.
Ford makes a Half ton pick up truck. A half ton is 1,000 lbs.
The battery weighs 1800 lbs. 800 lbs. over the truck capacity, without a load.
Hook that thing to a travel trailer the average weight of which is 5,000 lbs, and you will be damned lucky to get out of your driveway on a full charge. If you want an electric vehicle, buy a golf cart.

Is the goal to force us to switch to EVs or public transportation? EVs are beyond the budget of us peons. I'm not to use public transportation because of crime. So I guess I won't be going anywhere.

Hatchel should be impeached for mandating EVs by 2035. Who the hell does she think she is that she can dictate what I drive.

First of all EVs, like all other anti carbon initiatives, are science fair technology. Of course they work in isolation under pristine conditions in a test lab. But they cannot work on real roads.
You see they are not supposed to work on real roads. They are supposed to kill the car industry for middle clad consumers. For that missions they are working beautifully.
When this Hindenburg EV fiasco immolates What do you think will happen to the price of your next CE vehicle? After all the EV sunk costs wil be rolled into the CE Product line. That should thin out the traffic heard. One way or another the elitists are not gonna share the asphalt with you. Its bad enough they can smell you sometimes. Or imagine they can.

I'm saving a huge belly-laugh for the day when the government and their puppets at GM and Ford are finally forced to admit that the EV boondoggle is an impossible dream and a huge failure. Anybody who ever took a science, economics or physics class in high school can explain to the green morons why their dream of a "clean and green" future is pure nonsense.

There are certain laws of physics and thermodynamics that you just can't wish away, or legislate away, or pipe-dream [not a verb, I know] away. Not to mention, as noted, the deep problems of mining minerals to build batteries, and then the disposal once the batteries life-span is over.

That is what happens when government gets involved instead of relying on private enterprise to come out with what the public actually wants and needs.

The enviro crazies and autocrats saw the success of some hybrids and thought to carry the concept through to EVs for everybody. Anyone who thinks rationally KNEW it was impossible, for numerous reasons, MANY of which CANNOT be overcome by any technology in existence or realistically expected for decades to come, if ever.
Further, the dangers of EVs bursting into flame would have killed any product in a normal market. Government would have legislated them into extinction.
Only now are we starting to get the blunt and unacceptable answers to some hard questions. How about my family's summer vacation traveling cross country? Nope, can't do that anymore. YOU have to sacrifice your lifestyle to save the planet. Of course the elite class will be given a pass for "necessary" travel to various venues, like Global Warming conferences.
It is insanity and dictatorial control. WAKE UP and kick these idiots OUT of any positions of authority.
