Hunter Biden's plea deal has appeared to collapse in a stunning twist during his appearance in front of a judge in a federal court in Delaware. The president's scandal-hit son said 'yes, your honor' when asked by the judge if he was going to plead guilty, and admitted he's been to rehab six times in 20 years for addiction to drinking and drugs. But then the Judge demanded a recess when an agreement between prosecutors and attorneys for the president's son appeared to fall apart.

An official White House transcript of remarks by President Joe Biden on Tuesday appears to contradict a gaffe he made while speaking about mental illness, when he appeared to claim his administration had ended cancer. Speaking about his “cancer moonshot,” his effort to find a cure for cancer, Biden said, “They looked at me like why cancer because no one thinks we can. That’s why. And we can. We ended cancer as we know it.” Critics mocked Biden’s claim as both an example of his signature hyperbole ,and a sign of possible mental decline: But the White House transcript reads differently

A federal judge has overturned the 2017 desertion conviction of Army Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl, claiming he did not receive a fair trial. The military judge in the case did not disclose that he had applied with the Justice Department to be an immigration judge after he retired. Bergdahl received a dishonorable discharge, reduction in rank, and forfeiture of $10,000 in pay in 2017 after becoming the sole U.S. service member to be captured in Afghanistan shortly after he left his post in June 2009. President Barack Obama exchanged Bergdahl for five noted Taliban terrorists, calling the deserter a “hero” in a Rose Garden ceremony. U.S. District Judge Reggie B. Walton rejected Bergdahl’s

Rudy Giuliani concedes he made defamatory statements about Georgia election workers Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss in an effort to resolve their lawsuit against him and to satisfy a judge who has considered sanctioning him. The late-night Tuesday filing from Giuliani says he doesn’t contest Moss and Freeman’s accusations that he smeared them after the 2020 election. Yet the filing says he still wants to be able to argue that his statements about voter fraud in Georgia in the 2020 election were protected speech. Notably, he also refuses to concede that his statements caused damages to Moss or Freeman. CNN has reached out to a lawyer for Freeman and Moss.

Former Defense Secretary Leon Panetta has no regrets signing the now-infamous open letter heavily suggesting the Hunter Biden laptop was Russian disinformation. Panetta was among the dozens of former intelligence officials sounding the alarm on Russia's interference in the 2020 presidential election after the New York Post published its bombshell reporting about then-candidate Joe Biden's son, shedding light on shady foreign business dealings. After several news organizations authenticated the laptop's contents, CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins asked the ex-Obama official Monday night whether he wished he never signed the letter "given what we know now."

Joe Biden has repeatedly denied any involvement with his son Hunter's business dealings, though recent revelations appear to have undercut that claim. But the president isn’t the only administration official to have his public statements on the matter come under scrutiny in the face of conflicting evidence. As House Republicans, led by Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., and Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, rigorously pursue investigations into the Biden family, their findings appear to have substantiated links of the commander-in-chief's prior involvement in the first son's endeavors

President Joe Biden’s economic policies have recently found strong support within his own Democratic Party and among the big media. Yet, despite the push by Biden’s most ardent supporters, a majority of average voters disagree that the president’s policies are turning the economy around, according to the latest I&I/TIPP Poll. The president in recent weeks has maintained that his economic policies are “turning things around” and “delivering for the American people,” and has made other comments intended to boost support for Bidenomics. But by 51% to 42%, Americans disagree with those assessments, based on the online I&I/TIPP Poll,

Campbell, 45, was a competent swimmer who drowned on Sunday night while paddle boarding on the pond next to the Obamas' $12million home. The couple were not in the house at the time but were elsewhere on the island, their office confirmed today. Police do not suspect foul play, but many questions surrounding the accident remain unanswered.

At the end of the movie Amadeus, Mozart is shown on his deathbed, frantically trying to complete his Requiem Mass, a work that may be more beloved around the world than ever before, three centuries later. "Requiem" means "may they rest," as an ancient prayer to whatever divinity our ancestors believed in, hoping and praying that the newly dead would rest in peace, as a heavenly reward for their virtues in life, and as a petition for forgiveness for their sins in this life. And also as a nice way to say, "Good to see you again, now go away, and stop haunting us."

Stein’s Law holds that “If something cannot go on forever, it will stop.” The late Herbert Stein made the observation about economic trends, but his axiom perfectly describes Joe Biden’s shaky dance with political death. The president is trying to navigate a narrow path between two potential disasters. Each one could prove fatal to his tenure, but if the twain shall meet, he doesn’t have a prayer. And it’s a near certainty they will meet because the facts we already know are overwhelmingly stacked against him and more damaging information is coming soon. One track of his predicament stems from general public unhappiness with his performance.

A Pew Research poll released July 20 found that 70% of Democrats think the government should restrict what appears on social media, a dramatic change from five years ago when a majority of Democrats supported a free marketplace of ideas. It's no wonder, considering the drumbeat of warnings from leftist politicians and their liberal media allies about "disinformation" and "misinformation." But be warned: Democracy cannot survive for long if one of the nation's two major political parties wants to put blinders on the public, limiting their access to information and canceling political opponents. That's a rigged system. Ask the Iranians, Russians or Chinese.
