Israeli lawmakers on Monday approved the key part of a divisive judicial overhaul plan pushed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Part of the plan -- which was proposed as a sweeping reform by Netanyahu's hardline nationalist government -- removes the court system's ability to strike down "unreasonable" decisions by the government. Critics said it would mark a move away from democratic ideals. Supporters said it would claw back some power from unelected judges.

The laughable irony is that Biden has repeatedly warned Israel against weakening their own Supreme Court while here at home he and the rest of the Demtwits want exactly that.

Israel has gotten by without a constitution for 75 years, but they probably need to think about having one to avoid a replay of this kind of mess.

Hey! I have an idea!
Dissolve the Knesset and the government and let the judges run the whole show...just like Iran. .maybe THAT would make the Israelis happy.

Having judges that can overturn any law on a whim is a kritarchy, not a democracy of any kind.
From what I understand about this, it is a good thing.
But, I'd love to hear from an Israeli about it, these things can be so distorted by the Enemedia that it can be difficult to understand from afar.

This is an answer to many months of praying for this to happen! Praise the Lord! God bless and keep Israel and for the continual physical healing of Bibi (who we hear is doing quite well after heart surgery).
Israel is the canary in the coal mines. Our eyes are on the Eastern gates of Jerusalem looking for the return of our Lord.

I’m not following the issue and could use some education, but anymore whenever I hear that something is “divisive,” I’m for it.

Netanyahu knows the clock is ticking on Iran using its nukes. They don't need milquetoasts judges getting in the way when they act in the emergency.
And frankly, if Biden didn't want this he should have shut up. My knee jerk reaction was to support the judicial overhaul when word of Biden's disapproval came out.

Liberal judges have been ruling Israel for too long, overriding anything outside of their leftist agenda. It's not democracy (ignorant argument) it's monopoly by a minority political set .
