You can have all the facts on your side and still lose an argument. How? Because the other side is not bound by facts, they’re arguing emotion, and emotion always overrides facts. It sounds stupid, it is stupid, but it’s also true. Think about the things you’ve apologized for in your life – I’d give you odds it was for things you said in the heat of the moment, not after thinking about the situation in a cool, rational way. That emotion factor is a big part of why Republicans always seem to get rolled when it comes to policy debates, but it’s not the only reason.

Joe Biden is a born political panderer. It’s how he won the Democratic Party nomination, and it played a large role in his victory over Donald Trump.
Telling people what they want to hear is a political skill that most politicians possess. But there may never have been a politician as adept and skilled as Joe Biden in pandering to voters based on their race, their gender, their sexual identity, or any other aspect of their personhood that can be sliced, diced, and pureed to create a message tailor-made for a particular Democratic constituency.

You can take this with a grain of salt, but according to Niall Ferguson, a historian and senior fellow at the Hoover Institution, there is a strong possibility that former Donald Trump will emerge the victor in the 2024 presidential election.
In an op-ed for The Spectator, Ferguson argued that “A second Trump act is not just possible. It’s fast becoming my base case.”
Ferguson quickly dismisses the idea that Trump’s legal issues will hurt him because criminal cases against leading political figures often do not hinder their political success. In fact, he observed that they’re already backfiring because of the perception that Democrats are abusing the legal system for political purposes.

The good news is that not every teacher in the schools across the nation is an agendized leftist culture warrior. Some teachers actually practice virtues like dignity, values, and common sense, and embrace ideas such as free speech and critical thought. The bad news is that such teachers seem to be much fewer in number than their guerrilla counterparts and face uphill battles in their efforts to reintroduce sanity to the classroom. Caedran Sullivan, a 15-year veteran English teacher at Shawnee Mission High School in Overland Park, Kan., is one such teacher. And she is paying the price.
Sullivan had become fed up with the woke culture at the school,

Masks may not do anything to prevent the spread of COVID, but the CDC has gobs of PR money to spend so they keep churning out the mask propaganda nonetheless.
The new material appears to be for the…less intellectually endowed. Some of them are for children, but many of them are basically dumbed-down comic books for adults. [Tweets]
It’s hard to know how to feel about these pamphlets and videos. They are patronizing, off-putting, insulting the intelligence of anybody over 5 years old, and filled with misinformation. The idea that masks actually prevent getting or spreading COVID is about as debunked as the idea that the Earth is flat,

Joe Biden is headed to his Rehoboth Beach compound for the weekend as the border crisis explodes.
Title 42 expired Friday at midnight and a migrant child has already died in US custody.
The border crisis is out of control and Joe Biden doesn’t have a care in the world.
He will be spending the weekend in the Northeast far, far away from the US-Mexico border.
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean Pierre on Friday announced Joe Biden will be delivering a commencement speech at Howard University on Saturday morning.
“The president will then travel to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, where he and the first lady will remain over the weekend,” Karine Jean-Pierre said.

Louisiana – Kenner police this week revealed a racial motive in the killing of a 66-year-old handyman.
Two black male suspects, Tahj Matthews, 23 and Maurice Holmes, 25, admitted to their role in killing Lawrence Herr while he was repairing a mailbox last month.
One of the suspects told police he “just wanted to kill a white guy.”
Matthews and Holmes were both charged with first-degree murder in connection with the fatal drive-by shooting on April 10.
According to reports, the suspects gunned down Lawrence Herr while he was repairing a mailbox on Kenner’s Georgetown Place.
Both suspects are being held in the Jefferson Parish Correction Center, according to WVUE.

It’s always encouraging to see parents and others fighting back against the effort to sexualize children. At a time when progressives are trying desperately to introduce their ideology on sexuality and gender identity, people are using the legal system to put a stop to the movement to indoctrinate young minds in the classrooms.
Nevada parents have filed a federal lawsuit against the Clark County School District (CCSD) after their 15-year-old child was allegedly forced to read a pornographic script during a class assignment. The incident, which took place in March 2022, involved the student being assigned a sexually explicit monologue written by another student and edited by the teacher.

The past five weeks has seen a flurry of media activity, clearly coordinated, against the right-of-center U.S. Supreme Court.
First, the outlet ProPublica began publishing a series of pieces "exposing" the well-known fact of Justice Clarence Thomas' long-running friendship with billionaire real estate tycoon Harlan Crow, and alleging ethical improprieties pertaining to the justice's purported failure to disclose certain information. Second, Politico alleged a conflict of interest for Justice Neil Gorsuch in an old real estate transaction in his native Colorado that involved the CEO of a major law firm. Third, Business Insider relied on a "whistleblower" to allege corruption on the part of Jane Roberts,

Michael Engleman, the director of the Tour of the Gila race, where a transgender athlete took home the women’s overall win, said this week that trans athletes could “kill the sport.”
Engleman spoke to The Telegraph where he pushed back on policies allowing male athletes who identify as women to compete in women’s sports. Austin Killips, a 27-year-old biological male, took home the overall win in the women’s category. Killips began racing, and transitioning to live as a woman, in 2019, which Townhall covered. [Tweet]
“This could kill the sport,” Engleman said.

On Tuesday, a jury simultaneously rejected E. Jean Carroll’s allegations of rape against Donald Trump but held him responsible for sexual misconduct and defamation.
One of the more curious aspects of this case was that the only reason Carroll was even able to sue Donald Trump was because of a law passed in New York in 2022 called the Adult Survivors Act. This legislation, signed by Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul, introduced a “one-year lookback window for survivors of sexual assault” to legally pursue their alleged abusers, irrespective of when the abuse took place. Many argued it was passed specifically to let Carroll take her absurd allegations to court and punish Trump.

We already know that the White House avoids putting Joe Biden in front of the press for unscripted opportunities. It must be unknowably challenging to shield the gaffe machine from every opportunity to say something stupid, but his people manage most of the time to keep him away from screw-ups.
In those rare moments when he does speak off the cuff, he eventually goes to his fail-safe method for getting out of the proceedings with some variation on “They say I can’t talk about [insert topic here].” Whoever “they” are, they sure do seem bossy.
Press conferences have become a precious rarity in the Biden era as well.
