'Many of those who supported the special operation yesterday are now in doubt, or categorically against what is happening' Yevgeny Prigozhin, chief of Russia’s notorious mercenary Wagner group, on Saturday urged President Vladimir Putin to stop the “special military operation,” as the Kremlin calls the war in Ukraine. In his op-ed about the current situation on the frontline posted on Telegram, Prigozhin, who lost thousands of militants in the battle of Bakhmut, suggested that Moscow should declare victory in the Ukraine war. “The ideal option is to announce the end of the SMO (special military operation), to inform everyone that Russia has achieved the results that it planned for,

Same advice was given to the US during the Vietnam War. Declare victory and leave. Doubt Putin will leave until he has something to show for it. So far, his major accomplishment is to help ruin the American economy. That's not enough. The Russians and Ukrainians need to have peace talks. Otherwise the slaughter will continue.

Prigozhin, I suggest that you avoid attending meetings in tall buildings in Moscow for a while and attend all of your meetings on the ground floor anywhere. As you see from Putie's previous actions to eliminate his opposition, it sucks to be pushed out of a 30th floor high-rise window for bad-mouthing Putie.

Perhaps...Mr "Wagner" suddenly finds it would be a bit more "Lucrative" to be able to send his Private Army to Sudan, where his "Patron", guarding his actual, exclusive, Gold Mine is in a newly escalating WAR. That if he loses, Mr Wagners Gold Mine goes POOF! as well.

Russia has been dragging 1962 model tanks out of their huge Siberian bone yards for old, abandoned tanks and doing enough work to get the engines running and put a 1970s main gun sight on them, and sending them to battle in Ukraine with crews with two weeks training. Clearly things are NOT going well, regardless of the massive disinformation campaign. Sadly, a substantial amount of "conservative" Americans have bought into the huge Russian disinformation campaign, millions of Russian bots and thousands of Russian hybrid warfare disinformation "posters" across cyberspace. The reality is very different. Is Ukraine totally victorious? Of course not, but Russia has tried to take one smallish, and relatively unimportant town, Bakhmut for several months, expending many dozens of tanks, hundreds of thousands of artillery shells to make it look like a WW1 no man's land, and thousands of Russian conscripts. And still, they haven't managed this very small "win". Unfortunately, the new weapons that the NATO countries have promised aren't yet actually delivered. This is a sad thing. IMO, any country willing to fight for it's freedom against an imperialist, tyrannical large country like Russia deserves our full support, in every way except our own troops fighting. If Wagner is looking to end this, it's pretty clear that the Russian losses are entirely unsustainable, both in armored vehicles and in dead Russians. Russia is burning through old Soviet-made stocks of artillery shells, artillery barrels and dozens of other crucial assets at entirely unsustainable rates. They cannot built new precision guided munitions without Western components, which are blocked. No one has been able to gain air superiority, even though Russia has claimed to destroy the entire Ukrainian air force three times over, and yet, Ukraine still can fly some missions...although neither side can fly over the battlefield without extreme risk. I hope that Ukraine can hold on, or even recover more territory as they did in Kharkiv and when Russian troops made the massive evacuation at Kherson.

I think Prigozhin's idea is the best one out there. Considering the other ideas are World War 3 or kill a few thousand more poor men every day 4 Evah. According to the leaker there ARE American soldiers fighting, and Zelensky intends to use our weapons in Russia, and the Ukrainians are corrupt and are trying to grab Crimea for which they have no moral case. I was for Ukraine's self-defense but now they are leveraging all the help the world gave them, as support for their Russia hatred and their reckless ideas. I am praying daily for the diplomats to persuade the violent to stop, and in parallel that all those who keep this thing going will convert or get sick or be assasinated by a swarm of meteorites.

Ukraine was supposed to be an easy rest stop on the way to Poland and look what happened. Now, they're in a quagmire, thinking Europeans have realized the end of the cold war wasn't the end of history and Finland and Sweden joining NATO has to be a very jagged bone stuck in Putin's throat. I can imagine the threat Poland and the Baltic countries have to be feeling. BUT! If the Europeans are feeling threatened, and the should be, why aren't they acting like they are threatened?

Washington — Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said GOP senators will not help Democrats temporarily replace Sen. Dianne Feinstein on the powerful Senate Judiciary Committee, ending any hopes among Democrats that Republicans would allow them to push through judicial nominations as the California Democrat recovers from an illness. "Let's be clear: Senate Republicans will not take part in sidelining a temporarily absent colleague off a committee just so Democrats can force through their very worst nominees," McConnell said on the Senate floor on Tuesday, calling it an "unusual request." Democrats need Feinstein to help push through President Biden's judicial nominees

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Trump-DeSantis primary battle is now a two-sided affair. After sidestepping former President Donald Trump and his allies for weeks, a group of Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis supporters have begun to push back amid a flurry of criticism from the former president. Never Back Down, the super PAC supporting DeSantis, came out swinging with two new videos that take direct aim at Trump. One that came out the same day that Trump addressed the National Rifle Association said he sided with Democrats on some gun regulations. “Trump the gun-grabber doesn’t deserve a second chance,” the video maintains. Then came a second one on Sunday

PORTLAND, Ore. — The REI store in Portland's Pearl District will close at the end of February 2024, the company announced on Monday. "The safety of our employees, members and customers is always our number one priority. In recent years, Portland has been dealing with increased crime in our neighborhood and beyond. Last year, REI Portland had its highest number of break-ins and thefts in two decades, despite actions to provide extra security," REI said in its letter.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced Monday that the state legislature is preparing a bill to revoke development agreements that a Disney-controlled special district board provided to the company before a state-controlled board took the reins in March. DeSantis said the Disney-controlled board offered special deals to Disney, in “direct defiance of the will of the people of Florida.” Disney, he said, essentially was negotiating with itself to prevent the state from taking control of development in the district. “That’s not going to work,” he said. “That’s not going to fly.”

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito on Friday temporarily blocked lower court rulings that imposed tighter restrictions on the abortion pill mifepristone. U.S. Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk of the U.S. Northern District of Texas suspended the Food and Drug Administration's approval of mifepristone last week. The U.S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals blocked that part of Kacsmaryk's order and kept the FDA approval in place. But the appeals court temporarily re-imposed tighter restrictions on how mifepristone is used and distributed, which would make it more difficult for women to access the drug. Alito blocked those rulings restricting mifepristone access until 11:59 p.m. Wednesday.
