As the seasons change and the weather warms, American adults are yet again being subjected to the uncomfortable spectacle of teenage girls wearing outfits more befitting a runway show than a school, a store, or any other public setting. Every winter I hope the trend loses steam or reverses, but every spring it returns worse (snip)
I wish there were a way I could word this in a less tawdry manner, but I can’t, so I’ll just be blunt: Mom and Dad, we can see the bottom of your teenage daughter’s ass. And we shouldn’t be seeing the bottom of your teenage daughter’s ass.

I have 3 daughters, all adults now, but we refused to dress them like hookers 20+ years ago. The hypersexualization of girls has been going on for a long time.

Clear, concise and worth the read! Gotta wonder why more people don't think as this author does?

My niece, who teaches Math and Science to grades 6-9 out in CA, complained to her higher-ups about the total lack of a dress code, as her female students wore such scanty school clothes, you could see past Tuesday. They paraded their wares without remorse and the boys naturally fixated on their assets instead of the daily lessons. Her concerns fell on deaf ears. So she cranked down the thermostat in her classroom so the little tarts had to don sweaters and hoodies. Problem solved

We raised our daughter to respect us and herself. We never allowed her to dress like a ‘ho in school. What people wear affects their thinking and behavior, negatively or positively. She is now a mother of three and employed in a high-paying position with her company. Parents should never be pals with their children. Like the author said, being a friend is ok after the girl becomes a responsible adult.

When we went wedding dress shopping with my daughter, the stylist that worked there picked out several dresses. When she tried one on and came out to stand in front of the mirrors, I said "What we are all seeing now is for your husband not us and the guests at the wedding." To me it shows lack of dignity. Its sad.

My daughters were in High School during the mid 70's. I can't tell you how many times I sent the Oldest Daughter back upstairs to change clothes. The "You are not going to School dressed like that" Battle at 7:00 in the morning happened a lot! The exchange was (Daughter) " Well then, I will miss the Bus". followed by (me) "well then, I will drive you. But, you are not leaving looking like THAT"! So, I certainly agree with the Author of this article! Some of the Girls I see at the Mall DO look like Hookers, and it makes me wonder why in the world Their Mothers let them leave the House looking like THAT!

When I see bikini's now their whole butt is hanging out. How long does it take for a woman today to get used to having a string in their butt crack.

Speak for yourself, Christopher. At least those teenagers still look good. The time to complain is when women turn into flabby, pierced, tattooed, Walmartians and still dress that way.

#8, have you not noticed the obesity problem in teenaged girls these days? There’s nothing quite like seeing those rolls of fat bulging out of too tight and too skimpy clothes. And the girls are clueless about the way they look. When I see them I always wonder if there are mirrors in their homes.
My daughter attended a Catholic girl’s school and wore a uniform - it made life SO much easier. In Australia and New Zealand even public schools require uniforms. We need to do that here.

My daughter won’t let her 7 year old wear a bikini. It’s not just teenagers who are targets.

Just last weekend I went to the mall after work after looking at the going out of business sale Bed Bath & Beyond was having across the street. In the Annie Anne's Pretzel line behind me three teen girls were wearing clothes that would make a "lady of the evening" (thanks Larry the Cable Guy) blush. Let's just say if they bent over you would've seen butt cheeks and bras if any. It was just not a good look. I wanted to ask them did their parents approve of their manner of dress but in this day and age I would've probably been considered a weirdo by them and onlookers, so I just let it go. There's no way I'd let my teenaged daughter go anywhere with it all hanging out. I expect this summer it will be worse as teenage girls as young as 13 are out and about by themselves with no parental supervision dressed in the latest "fashions."

I work in a university. I see so many girls wearing skimpy clothing. Really short skirts and shorts with their butts hanging out. One was wearing spandex shorts that were so tight you could see her thong underwear. Most of them wear crop tops and I've seen sports bras worn as tops. It's pretty bad.

My daughters big brothers would not even allow her to wear a two-piece swimsuit. They knew what boys have on their mind. My problem with the way women dress today is the skin-tight leggings that look like they've been painted on. I believe they were meant to be covered with a tunic, but way too many women wear them uncovered, showing every curve and fold. As Mrs. Doubtfire said: "I hope you waxed."

In case you haven’t noticed, check out school track teams who let the girls practice running around the neighborhood wearing sport bras that are even smaller than regular bras. A tee shirt would be more effective and certainly less revealing but apparently not as attention getting. Also check out your daughter’s swim team. The girls’ suits are cut so high that half her butt cheek is exposed. Also, what’s with the female lifeguards?? They get a skimpy two piece bikini while male lifeguards get shorts that reach to their knees. Check it out, you’ll be shocked.

Standing in a line for ice cream last summer was a woman and her two teenage children, son and daughter, guess which one was exposing their cheeks?
The mother !!!
I was embarrassed to see this woman flaunt herself in front my husband ( I'm no prude, have been married for 56 years), and yes, men still look, at any age.
She was not being a responsible parent to her children, she may find herself a young grandmother in the near future.

Female teachers are almost as bad. Not with the booty shorts but trashy, torn, too tight jeans, leggings and yoga pants. None of which are appropriate for a school setting.
Many teachers dress like either hoochie mamas or slobs.

Also, please don't destroy your natural beauty with piercings and tattoo's. I watch 1930 and 1940 movies. The ladies wore clothes and hats, and were much more attractive then.

In central PA, the fashion is high-waisted leggings/yoga pants and crop (shorter) tops. Even on the thin females, they look hip-heavy. The average and larger gals, EEEECK!
Do they know what they look like? jello-jiggle with every step
(Remember when Rush said he liked the women's movement, especially when it was walking in front of him.)

We have an ogler among us. I hope he has no children of either sex.
Back in junior high (eons ago) we knew who the “easy” girls were by the way they dressed and behaved. Hos seem to learn early. Later they hung with the motorcycle gangs out in the desert.

When I picked up my niece’s children at their small town TX school, I sat in the parking lot and got to see more than I wanted to see. The seductive clothing on some of the girls was surprising. These were young pre-teenagers. I guess I didn’t expect to see it THERE. My niece said I should see some of the teachers!
I applaud parents on here who refused to let a lax and immoral culture affect their girls! I cannot fathom mothers allowing a daughter to parade around half-dressed.

Hey, while we are griping, when did it become 'the thing' for pregnant women to wear skin-tight stretch tops and dresses even into their 9th month? I'm sorry to be an old grump, but that just is NOT a good look!

As a mom and grandmother I know you have to teach your girls self-respect. It s not something that just magically appears. You have to explain it, work at it and make sure your kids know why it is so important. However, one thing that has occurred since I was in high school is that boys back then would want to date girls who had a good reputation. Oh, they may look, flirt, discuss the others among themselves and some of the guys would even secretly date them, but for the most part they dated the good girls because they wanted their parents’ approval. Now boys seem to have no discernment and have no standards which is why you have to have the same self-respect talk with boys. They need to respect themselves and not go out with just anyone. This is not easy when the culture is so rotten that it stinks like a week old corpse.
Another thing that shocks me Is seeing what some young girls p wear to church. That did not fly in my family. I am so grateful my mom stood her ground about my attire. I knew better than to push it and she took her job as a mom very seriously as did I when I had kids and have watched my kids stand firm with their kids. I can’t tell you how many times my mother said, I am not your friend. My job is to be your mother. We will have many years for a sweet friendship but it’s is not in your formative years, now is not the time.

When I was growing up, my mother told me that there are two types of ladies, those men play with and those they marry. I needed to dress and behave as the type I wanted to be seen as. I never forgot that advice.

My wife and I raised four girls.
They turned out quite well.
I guess we did OK as parents.
Looking back, it was fun.
But it wasn't easy!

You ng girls lack modesty. Even gypsy rose lee always said. “Have to leave something to the imagination!” These girls and a lot of women just show it all. And it’s disgusting.
I complain also about what #24 has said about appropriate dress for church. Tank tops and shorts, sundresses that expose everything. I asked a person why she dressed like that for church. Her reply was that it was more important that she was at church. I disagree. They know they are going to church. Woukd they dress that way to attend a funeral. Or go to a wedding in that attire. No. Out of respect for the occasion and the people attending the doings. But they dress skanky to attend church!

I have to say it's prom dresses for me. They're skin-tight and stop just a fraction of an inch below their panty line. Add to it 4 inch strappy heels and you've got a complete $5 an hour look. Yes, I'm old. (But it looks so uncomfortable!)

"A vertical expression of a Horizontal intention",
Gonna go out on a limb an suggest most of the scantily clad tweens/teens have a single mother, that had her 1st randomly fathered get while in highschool as well..Those "Curvy" at 13yo, are unattractively FAT by 30. Having babies doesn't help that trend.
When putting together a political/Education event in Cleveland, the school we were visiting had a 100% "On to college" rate, generally with academic scholarships, the govt school on the next block had a 25% graduation rate, a 7% "On to College" rate, generally sports scholars...it also had a 100% Pregnancy rate for the girls...not every girl got pregnant, many though had 2 or three kids while in highschool..
