Here is yet another story about a government using eminent domain to steal property from its citizens. In this case, the state of Tennessee is seeking to seize land from farmers in order to benefit a private business.
About a year ago, Ford Motor Company began building an electric truck plant in BlueOval City, a rural area of west Tennessee. It was met with optimism from the community at the prospect of having new jobs for residents. The government was enthused about the idea of having another source of tax revenue and made generous offers to the company to establish its plant in the state.

A massive sinkhole in southeastern Texas that first grabbed headlines by threatening homes in 2008 began crumbling again over the weekend, ballooning to over 1000 feet across and 400 feet deep overnight.
After years of stability, the rim of the sinkhole in Daisetta began crumbling again on Sunday night after residents reported hearing popping 'like a gunshot' coming from the ground hours before.
Neighbors went to bed Sunday night and woke to find that the sinkhole was growing, and it has since gained about 150 feet in both width and depth.

There is now one place in America that will no longer have to worry about faulty machines plaguing our elections.
Mike Lindell, the CEO of MyPillow and one of America’s foremost election integrity advocates, made a historic announcement on Frank TV yesterday that Osage County, Missouri became the first place in America to completely ditch machine voting and move exclusively to hand-counting election results.
Make no mistake: this is a game-changer for election integrity.
Osage County is not alone. Several counties across the US are moving to paper ballots. Shasta County in California voted to go to paper ballots recently. And Nye County in Nevada counts ballots by hand now.

National Public Radio, known as one of America's most notoriously biased media outlets, earned a new badge on Twitter this week in a move that has already sent liberals screeching for their safe spaces and drawn applause from Americans who've long been irked by NPR's blatant anti-conservative — and often unpatriotic — programming.
Twitter users first started noticing on Tuesday night that NPR's official account has been labeled "US state-affiliated media." [Tweet]
Musk shared Twitter's Help Center definition for state-affiliated media and said it "seems accurate" after Twitter slapped the label on NPR's account.

After Tuesday's arraignment of former President Trump, Republicans rushed to defend him against the political persecution of Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg. However, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and his top allies stayed silent.
McConnell, who reportedly hasn't spoken to Trump since December 2020, refrained from making any statement responding to Trump pleading not guilty to 34 felony counts.
In fact, the Republican has not said anything regarding the indictment of Trump overall.
"If we issue a statement, we will let everyone know," is all McConnell's top spokesman, David Popp, said following the arraignment.

Twitter has made it official, National Public Radio (NPR) is now classified as a "US state-affiliated media" outlet on the platform.
It’s a label that has traditionally applied to state-run media outlets in foreign autocracies, like Russia’s RT and China’s Xinhua.
Twitter CEO Elon Musk shared the company’s guidance on state-affiliated media Wednesday. "State-affiliated media is defined as outlets where the state exercises control over editorial content through financial resources, direct or indirect political pressures, and/or control over production and distribution," the Twitter policy read. "Seems accurate," Musk wrote, referring to NPR's new title.

A-list actor Leonardo DiCaprio took the stand in the federal trial against recording artist Prakazrel “Pras” Michel, a founding member of the Fugees, who stands accused of funneling money into former president Barack Obama’s re-election campaign in 2012.
DiCaprio, 48, used to associate with the fugitive Malaysian financier Jho Low, who allegedly gave the money to Michel to donate to the campaign through shell accounts. Michel is accused of conspiring to make illegal campaign contributions using foreign money, witness tampering, and failure to register as a foreign agent of the Chinese government.

Lock Donald Trump up, or don’t lock him up, but don’t tell me that “no one is above the law.” It’s one of the most ludicrous fantasies peddled by the left.
Plenty of people are “above the law.” James Clapper, who lied under oath to Congress about spying on the American people, is above the law. John Brennan, who lied about a domestic spying operation on Senate staffers, is above the law. Unlike Trump advisor Peter Navarro, Obama’s Attorney General Eric Holder was never going to be handcuffed and thrown in prison for ignoring a congressional subpoena. He is above the law. Trump’s 2016 opponent, Hillary Clinton, is also above

SAN FRANCISCO -- Bob Lee, Cash App founder and current CPO of Francisco-based cryptocurrency company MobileCoin, has died, the company confirmed to ABC7 News. Some high-profile friends of the tech executive have taken to social media to voice their love for Lee, and shock and frustration over the news of his death. They say he died in a San Francisco stabbing, but SFPD has not yet confirmed that information. The San Francisco Chronicle reports that Lee was the victim in a stabbing attack at 2:35 a.m. Tuesday on the 300 block of Main Street. The news has come as a

Seventeen-year-old Kaitlyn Demler's dream came true when she celebrated her birthday at the Milwaukee Brewers home opener and met her favorite player, Christian Yelich.
"After the game, I decided to go back down by the field because I wanted to stay as long as I could and it just happened to have been perfect timing. Right when I got down to the field, the owner Mark Attanasio was there and he saw my poster and he basically just made it all come true," Demler said.

It’s always possible to be surprised. The indictment brought by Manhattan’s elected Democratic district attorney Alvin Bragg against Donald Trump is even worse than I’d imagined. Bragg’s indictment fails to state a crime. Not once . . . but 34 times. On that ground alone, the case should be dismissed — before one ever gets to the facts that the statute of limitations has lapsed and that Bragg has no jurisdiction to enforce federal law (if that’s what he’s trying to do, which remains murky).

How is this for another Biden administration foreign policy failure?
Republican Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida brought the receipts: (Snip for tweet) He was almost certainly referring to the news in this Reuters report last December:
SAN SALVADOR (Reuters) - The United States sanctioned several Central American officials it accused of possible corruption in their respective countries on Friday, including two politicians close to El Salvador's President Nayib Bukele. U.S. authorities sanctioned over 40 people under the Magnitsky Act, which authorizes the government to sanction foreign officials for human rights offences, freeze their assets and ban them from entering the United States.

The end of the Marxist-infiltrated Progressive Era isn’t happening with a whimper, but with bangs. In 2024, it’ll happen with convulsions, likely violent. What follows is up for grabs.
The foreshadowing occurred again in Nashville last week. Will the leftist-stoked and Democrat/establishment sanctioned 2020 riots prove merely a preview to a calamitous and pivotal 2024 presidential election year?
Six innocents -- three nine-year-olds, two teachers, and the school’s principal -- were gunned down in cold blood by a self-identified transgender, Audrey Hale. The act was demonic, though studiously papered over by the establishment

Casablanca. At the time it was made, none of the actors knew it was destined to be a classic, turning up in list after list of the greatest movies of all time. They didn’t know that lines like “Here’s looking at you, kid,” “We’ll always have Paris,” and “This could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship” were going to enter popular culture. They couldn’t predict that Casablanca’s plot continues to be inspiring, with the studiously disinterested Rick Blaine and the corrupt Captain Renault shaking off their apathy when they realized the size of the Nazi threat and saw that people would willingly sacrifice themselves to fight back.

Taxpayer funded PBS kicked off their coverage of the Trump case tonight by speaking to a woman named Andrea Bernstein, who is the author of an anti-Trump book.
PBS has always been liberal, but like most of the media, has gone to the extreme left in recent years.
It’s fine if they want to do that, but they should not be allowed to do it using tax dollars. Here’s a partial transcript, via PBS:Amna Nawaz:
To give us a sense of what happened in that courtroom. Today, I’m joined by Andrea Bernstein. She covers democracy for ProPublica and Trump legal matters for NPR and is the author of “American Oligarchs:

Jacob Chansley has just been released early from his 4 ½ year sentence a few weeks after Tucker Carlson released new footage from the Capitol on Jan. 6 that shows Chansley peacefully walking around the Capitol with police officers and leading a prayer in the House chamber thanking the police for their help. According to the Democrat Newsmedia Colluders (hereafter the DNC), Chansley is the “QAnon Shaman” that ‘led’ an armed insurrection against the United States on Jan. 6, 2021, and

On Monday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed a bill into law allowing "constitutional carry" in his state. Then, progressives and Democrats online had an absolute meltdown in response.
"Sickening," the official Democratic Party's Twitter account wrote of the news. "Hiding behind closed doors and with the NRA by his side, Ron DeSantis just signed a bill that could make it easier for criminals to carry guns. He's prioritizing winning the MAGA base over our kids' safety." [Tweet] The Biden administration evidently agrees, as White House Press Secretary similarly tweeted, "It is shameful that so soon after another tragic school shooting, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed into law a permitless concealed carry

Ever since the beginning of the global warming debate, now labeled “climate change,” there has been one immutable yet little-known fact: All of the temperature data stations used to make determinations about the state of Earth’s temperature are controlled by governments.
In June 1988, when Dr. James Hansen, then-director of NASA’s Institute for Space Studies in Manhattan, went before the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee to say that, “global warming has begun,” he was using temperature data collected by governments worldwide from a weather station network that was never intended to detect a “global warming signal.”

At the rate things are going, we’d better start preparing for life under perpetual Democrat or Uniparty governance. Here are just a few points to ponder about what that life might be like. (snip) Do you like the dark, i.e. living in the dark and carrying flashlights and candles after the sun goes down? You’d better because there will be lots of opportunity once Uniparty-induced brownouts and blackouts take hold (snip) Do you like extreme heat in your house in the summer? See above. Beware of living in the Southeast. This is how the Uniparty will play nasty against its most geographically identifiable opposition

Welcome to the Stalin States of Amerika. Come for the gnat salad, stay for the tyranny. Liberty is SO last century.
Tuesday marked a low point in American history. The political party formerly known as the Democrats went full Maoist and arrested the man who not only served as the greatest president since Reagan, but shined a light on the glop of sub-humanity living in the outhouse called Washington, D.C.
Joe Biden is a small, grotesque man. He showered with his young daughter Ashley. He “allegedly” sexually assaulted Tara Reade. He sent his crackhead son to play global bagman and hoover mad stacks

Meet the judge presiding over President Donald Trump's criminal case: Acting New York County Supreme Court Justice Juan Manuel Merchan, an apparent 2020 Biden donor whose daughter once worked for Vice President Kamala Harris's presidential campaign.
According to Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings, Merchan donated three times to ActBlue in the summer of 2020, once on July 26, 2020, when the judge's donation was—according to the FEC—earmarked for President Joe Biden's 2020 presidential campaign. The other two of Merchan's contributions were pledged to the Progressive Turnout Project (PTP), a left-wing PAC that rallies voter turnout for Democrat candidates, and Stop Republicans,

Now that we’ve seen what District Attorney Alvin Bragg has, the old Peggy Lee song comes to mind.
Is that all there is? Yes, that’s all there is.
The charges against Donald Trump are almost exactly as predicted.
They are weak and, most important, political.
As such, they are shockingly-blatant punishment for Trump daring to become president. In this sordid case, the letters D.A. stand for Democrat Attorney.
The charges are the crime.
Shame on Bragg for abusing his authority and turning his office into a partisan outpost.

RedState’s Nick Arama has had Alvin Bragg’s number for quite some time, predicting that the 34-count indictment would amount to charge stacking and that there could be nothing a serious lawyer would put their name to in it (and she’s written a new analysis now that we have the actual indictment, here).
I wrote earlier that once we saw the indictment we knew why Alvin Bragg wanted it to be sealed as long as possible, and that according to one reporter who was in the courtroom Trump’s attorneys laughed when they read it. Trump’s attorney Joseph Tacopino seemed to confirm this with an answer during a press conference after the indictment:

The collapse of freedom in the Western world proceeds apace.
Misinformation boards. Government backdoors into social media companies. Bogus “fact checks” that promote outright falsehoods.
And now an arrest for being mean to Emmanuel Macron on Facebook. An actual arrest for calling him “filth.” You are likely aware of the raging protests in France over pension reforms. As much as I hate to admit it, I am with Macron on this issue. Raising the retirement age from 62 to 64 is hardly draconian given the increase in lifespans and the fiscal crises all pension programs face.
The protests have been “fiery but mostly peaceful,” as they say.

The speech given by former US President Donald Trump is one that is likely to generate mixed reactions. In the speech, Trump talked about a number of issues, including the many attacks against him and his administration, the state of the economy, and the potential for a nuclear war. Trump also touched on the raid on Mar-a-Lago, the Presidential Records Act, and the Espionage Act of 1917.
In a deft move, the former president used the indictment to further drive home the point that the left has been using the government to attack him politically. He accuses them of spying on his campaign, launching fraudulent investigations, and attempting to impeach

Though former President Donald Trump’s arraignment is undeniably and understandably the biggest news of the day in America, a huge political story is also playing out in North Carolina – and it’s one that, unlike the Trump news, has Democrats seething with rage, and calling for resignations.
As we previously reported, Rep. Tricia Cotham, who represents the 112th District in the North Carolina House, is set to announce on Wednesday that she is switching her party affiliation from Democrat to Republican.
A former school teacher and principal, Cotham served as a Democrat in the state legislature from 2007 to 2017, and took time away from that before running

You can read Alvin Bragg’s indictment of Donald Trump and a supporting statement of facts here. The indictment is what we expected. It all has to do with paying $130,000 to Stormy Daniels for a non-disclosure agreement, which was legal. The payment was made by “Lawyer A,” Michael Cohen. Trump reimbursed Cohen using Trump’s own money, which was legal. The “34 counts” arise out of the fact that by agreement, Cohen got reimbursed by sending monthly invoices to Trump or his revocable trust. So for each monthly bill from Cohen, we get three counts of falsifying documents: one for the invoice, one for the ledger entry,

Felony assaults on New Yorkers are continuing to rise across New York City, specifically in the borough of Manhattan, as Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg (D) exhausts city resources on a 34-count felony case against former President Donald Trump.
In 2022, violent crime in New York City rose 23 percent, with more than 126,500 arrests made for murder and non-negligent manslaughter, robbery, felony assault, rape, burglary, grand larceny, and grand larceny auto — the seven major crime categories.
