The extraordinary behind-the-scenes friendship

Casablanca. At the time it was made, none of the actors knew it was destined to be a classic, turning up in list after list of the greatest movies of all time. They didn’t know that lines like “Here’s looking at you, kid,” “We’ll always have Paris,” and “This could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship” were going to enter popular culture. They couldn’t predict that Casablanca’s plot continues to be inspiring, with the studiously disinterested Rick Blaine and the corrupt Captain Renault shaking off their apathy when they realized the size of the Nazi threat and saw that people would willingly sacrifice themselves to fight back.

I now understand why that movie was so successful. Unlike todays whinny, shallow and insignificant 'star's preaching woke and climate nonsense, many of the actors and actresses in Casablanca actually lived through true evil. One wonders, what persecuted stars of today will flee as a persecuted refuge to a distant land and make a classic movie about the Evils of the Democrat party?

When I am reminded of some aspects of the history of the human race it deeply saddens me to see the superficiality of so many of our "leaders" and their constituents aka The Gullibles who have lost all sight of the scope of life and its vicissitudes and true nobilities. For The Gullibles, life has lost meaning in their twitter like thoughts.

Amazing stuff that we never knew about the actors in this great little movie. And now Hollyweird has converted to working FOR the modern day Nazis.

My all time favorite movie. My favorite line? "Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the woild, she walks into mine..." Brilliant cast, story, and to think it was filed at the very height of WWII makes it even more important.

I love this movie & have it in my collection & always enjoy watching it. The only question I really had was why make Major Strasser a Luftwaffe officer instead of SS? Certainly SS made more sense & they must have that uniform. Just curious.

I knew about this friendship and the fact that many of the actors in the movie rightfully hated the nazi's. I believe it was one of the things that made the movie so believable, there was truely a hatred for Hitler and his criminal regime. By the way Casablanca will be on TCM this Saturday night at 8 EDT. Here's looking at you, kid.

El Salvador's President Nayim Bukele is something of a freak, a loose cannon. His twitter photo should give you the idea: I can't tell if he's on the right or left, he's some kind of opportunist who's often described as a caudillo. He's an ex-communist with Venezuelan advisors, as the screen shot indicates at the top. But apparently the country's real communists don't like him. He's trashed his country's future by dropping the U.S. dollar as the country's currency and replacing it with bitcoin, an unreliable ledger currency favored by drug dealers, money launderers, and fast-buck speculators.

As we often say about Joe Biden, he knows how to pick 'em. So now we have the revelation from the Washington Free Beacon that the Soviet-honored, Soviet-educated Saule Omarova, who wants to nationalize your bank account for the state, has a record as a petty thief. Saule Omarova, whom Biden tapped to serve as Comptroller of the Currency, was arrested after she was caught stuffing $214 worth of clothes, shoes, cologne, and belts in her purse at a T.J. Maxx in Madison, Wis., in May 1995. Omarova was 28 years old at the time and studying for her doctorate at the University of Wisconsin.

The same sort of anti-White racist, left wing revolutionaries that have burned swaths of American cities are terrorizing parts of Canada with terroristic arson attacks. But lacking any history of slavery or historic oppression of Blacks, the Canadian thugs have seized upon alleged mistreatment of indigenous peoples, called “First Canadians” according to recent local custom north of the border. The result has been a wave of church burnings recently, including ten churches in Alberta on Canada’s national holiday, Canada Day, just a few days ago.

Whether you believe in QAnon or not, one of the points that Q made was the claim that pedophilia tied together many of the world’s power brokers. That’s would make it unsurprising that Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted pedophile who continued his wicked ways even after his conviction, had such a big network of rich and powerful people who knew about his vicious propensities and seemingly didn’t care. Even knowing that, it’s still big news to learn that Bill Gates, one of the world’s richest and most powerful men, had a deep friendship with Epstein.

ALBANY, N.Y. — The New York State attorney general accused the Cuomo administration of undercounting coronavirus-related deaths at nursing homes by as much as 50 percent, according to a report released on Thursday. The count of deaths in state nursing homes has been a source of controversy for Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo and state Health Department officials, who have been sensitive to any suggestion that they played any role in the number of nursing home deaths, which the state put at more than 8,500. They have also been accused of obscuring a more accurate estimate of nursing home deaths, because the state only counted deaths at the actual facilities,

After months of stoking anger about alleged election fraud, one of America's largest talk-radio companies has decided on an abrupt change of direction. Cumulus Media, which employs some of the most popular right-leaning talk-radio hosts in the United States, has told its on-air personalities to stop suggesting that the election was stolen from President Donald Trump - or else face termination. A Cumulus executive issued the directive on Wednesday, just as Congress met to certify Joe Biden's election victory and an angry mob of Trump supporters marched on the Capitol, overwhelmed police and briefly occupied the building, terrorizing lawmakers and leading to the deaths of five people.

Dr. Anthony Fauci reportedly said in a phone interview that he has been deliberately changing his public statements regarding the COVID-19 pandemic because he didn’t think people were ready to hear his true beliefs, according to the New York Times. Fauci has been slowly increasing the number of Americans he says need to be vaccinated for the U.S. to reach “herd immunity” in public statements, the New York Times reported Thursday morning. He reportedly told the Times he has done so “partly based on new science, and partly on his gut feeling that the country is finally ready to hear what he really thinks.”

WASHINGTON — Attorney General William Barr said Tuesday the Justice Department has not uncovered evidence of widespread voter fraud that would change the outcome of the 2020 presidential election. His comments in an interview with The Associated Press come despite President Donald Trump’s repeated baseless claims that the election was stolen, Trump’s effort to subvert the results of the 2020 presidential election and his refusal to concede his loss to President-Elect Joe Biden. Barr said U.S. attorneys and FBI agents have been working to follow up specific complaints and information they’ve received, but they’ve uncovered no evidence that would change the outcome of the election.

Washington - The Supreme Court on Thursday denied West Virginia's request to let it fully enforce a state law that bans transgender women and girls from participating on public school sports teams consistent with their gender identity. In an unsigned order, the court denied West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey's emergency request to let the state enforce the 2021 law. Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas dissented, saying they would have granted the request. Earlier this year, a lower federal court ordered the state to temporarily stop halt the ban against Becky Pepper-Jackson, a 12-year-old transgender girl who sued the state over the law shortly after its passage.

Under the administration’s proposal, schools would be prohibited from adopting or applying a “one-size-fits-all” policy that categorically bans transgender students from participating on sports teams consistent with their gender identity. “Such bans fail to account for differences among students across grade and education levels,” the Education Department said Thursday in a news release. “They also fail to account for different levels of competition — including no-cut teams that let all students participate

California Gov. Gavin Newsom is quickly (and calculatingly) attempting to solidify himself as a top contender for the Democratic nomination for president in the event Joe Biden bows out, and he’s gone about it primarily by sniffing around in the backyards of the red states that many of his former constituents have fled to by hundreds of thousands. Most recently Newsom traveled to Florida, ostensibly on grounds to note his supposed concern about kids allegedly not being taught “real history” (read: woke history). But in reality, his visit was to try and tweak the state’s governor, Ron DeSantis, ahead of what is being widely speculated to be an announcement next month
