Over the past few months, we've been considering the wholly negative history of the so-called "Progressive"-era constitutional amendments, none of which did anything to improve the nation but did much to undermine its founding principles. (Snip) It's not just the constitutional amendments that have contributed to the decline of the Republic, however: it's also the actions of an ever-burgeoning federal government, which has simultaneously abandoned its core fiscal, executive, judicial, and legislative responsibilities, and extended its intrusive reach into almost every facet of our existence via the creation of the regulatory agencies, which now essentially control every aspect of a citizen's public and private life.

That posted paragraph should be etched in stone. A bunch of unelected nobodies with the power to destroy a country and they're hard at work doing just that!

Members of the uniparty are running America as kings, barons, lords, dukes, earls, etc. Their family members get perks, the government agencies are used for them and against the people, and the government employees, who think they're safe working directly under the ruling class, dutifully take orders from them. They won't stop until either we make them or our enemies take over and control them. They've all but trashed this Republic's Constitution and turned US into a "democracy" that they now need to protect. We no longer give our lives to protect our country, they take our lives.

Bidet is giving the a raise of over 4% this year and a member of Congress is talking about an over 8% raise in 2024. Government workers do not provide any services that the private sector can't do more effeciently at lower cost. But the government cannot control us without their bureaucracy

I think this was written with a pretty wide brush. And I think, maybe people have the wrong idea about’Civil Service’.
I worked for the U. S. Air Force as a civil servant for 30 years; in aircraft maintenance. All civil servants are not D. C. based desk jockeys sucking up tax payer money. We worked in the cold, in the heat and in the rain if necessary to keep war fighters supplied with armaments. I’m proud to have served in that capacity.
FTA: A permanent bureaucracy enjoying the perks of "public service" in perpetuity that consistently votes for the
Democrats?
I say bulls**t! It was a rarity to come across a democrat voting liberal in the ‘working’ sector. And most NEVER had a use for the union.

#5...I remember before jfk unionized civil service and the workers did all you state you did then and more, before union rules put the end to some practices they thought were wrong and made kings out of the union bosses, insufferable arrogant untouchable kings. Other than some southern democrats all dems were on board with fdr and jfk gravy trains.

If there were a way to legally withhold our taxes in revolt, to force government to actually represent us, our 'voice' would be much more audible. Our votes have become muted.

They can only control you if you let them. The ruling elites of France and other countries found that out the hard way. America is in no mood to suffer these fools.

If they have that much power they need to be elected by the people.

The real problem is that as one political party, the Democrats, took over control of the Civil Service in DC having politically appointed and by becoming aligned politically with the Super Bureaucrats there who controlled the Executive Agencies; while at the same time the other political party, the wimpy Republicans, for the most part ignored the politicization of the Civil Service while vilifying the working members of the Civil Service who make the federal government go, thus driving a majority of them into the hands of the Democrats.

When I was a military guard at the Air Force Museum decades ago, we called the missiles on static display the "civilian missiles" because they dont work and you cant fire 'em. Civil service was where the lazy and incompetent go to put in their time and retire.

Now THIS is a great idea. The bureaucratic sh**show that is all of our agencies is nearly impossible to change due to the very, very bad idea of "Civil Service" which protects the criminal, the incompetent, the lazy, and the politically corrupt from any real retribution.
This would be a wonderful idea.

Every time we get into the battle over increasing the debt a the government has to shut down. They alway furlough “NON ESSENTIAL WORKERS” The gov should only employ essential workers. Next time just don’t have them come back!

To get rid of patronage Chester Arthur's (?) administration instituted the civil service to rout out corruption. It looks like the cure was worse than the disease. Bring back patronage.

When you talk with any member of the US Civil Service who has been employed therein for any length of time and who has been paying attention, they will tell you that usually only about half of any executive agency unit does all the work, while the other half is essentially “dead wood”. Guess which half is usually politically connected?

Civil Service, where the lazy prosper...and Fup everything they touch. Out of all Civil Servants only a very small percentage care or do a good job...about 5%
