Since the “red wave” fizzled out, a consensus has quickly emerged in the media that Donald Trump is no longer a viable political force. The newly anointed prince of the Right, according to the tastemakers, is Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Trump’s more palatable, less chaotic protégé. But DeSantis and Trump offer two very different things. DeSantis is a conventional politician with Trump-like qualities, who can, at least according to his fan base, build a popular majority that is beyond Trump’s reach. Trump is a radical outsider to a rigged, illegitimate political system with which he has been at war for seven years,

If Trump did nothing else, he has put a spotlight on the roach infested "government" and how it actually works.

Although I'm a Floridian and I think Governor DeSantis has done a fantastic job here, I'm 100% behind President Trump. I really believe he's the only one that can bring some sanity back to this country.

#1, Correct, but he did so much more. He not only exposed their treachery, he offered a real solution to defeat it and that is the rub for the GOPe. They know he is serious and has an enormous love for this country. It’s not all about the money for him. It’s about saving the country that he loves, and he knows he can do it if the government truly is of, by and for the people. You are going to see exactly who has been bought by the corporate ruling class in the next couple years. It’s going to be a no holds barred bare-knuckled brawl because everything hangs on the outcome. I will stand with Trump because I don’t trust anyone else making noise about throwing their hat in the ring. I look to the Trump years and see promises kept, economy booming, strong and able military, secure border, for the most part a peaceful world. We haven’t seen that in a very long time. I am not switching horses in the middle of a stream. PDT’s philosophy struck gold. America First works, it’s a proven winner. Trump deserves another chance more than anyone in politics today.

Yes, Trump is the only guy who possesses some level of integrity and determination to preserve America as founded. As for everybody else, it's the follow the money and power schtick. These will be treacherous years ahead. The establishment will take a scorched earth strategy against Trump to try and stop him once and for all. 24/7 security for him is imperative. May God continue to protect Donald J. Trump, Melania, the children, and the entire Trump family.

I like desantis, but this writer's analysis is correct. It maybe that only a billionaire can take on the swamp- a billionaire who understands the media very well and who is competent, fearless and charismatic.
By extremely hard work Trump built a movement. I would like to see desantis do likewise over the next several years, not to see him merely take over the MAGA movement by taking over the Republican Party with the help of RINOs.

While I love what DeSantis is doing in Fla., and would vote for him if he was the 'R' candidate, he's still a politician. PDT is still my 1st choice. I'm old and the memory is going, but I do remember the lower gas prices, a healthy 401k, and relatively reasonable grocery prices. I'd really like those back.

I'm tired of losing too many elections we should win, and as long as Trump is on the stage, the loses will continue. Any serious analysis of key mid-term elections shows that Trump turns off far too many independents and women to win many general elections. In addition to that, Trump is the most effective get out the vote program the Dems have. Nobody energizes the Dems and a lot of independents to get out and vote against Republicans like Trump. If Trump is the nominee he will undoubtedly lose, and take down a lot of Republicans with him.

Both men, Trump and DeSantis, should work this out in order to regain the country. Let Trump have a four-year term then DeSantis in that time keep Florida red then move to a possible two presidency if he chooses. This is the only solution because DeSantis does not have 'all' the MAGA support for 2024. DeSantis is not a proven populist like Donald Trump. I think that the reason why Huey Long from Louisiana was assassinated he was a populist like Trump is. The RINOs have to be purged from the scene they are the poison of the party McConnell is the leader. Kevin McCarthy is just goat's milk.

If you think ANYONE can be President who opposes the swamp, WITHOUT a honest election, you are nuts. They blatantly stole it in 2020 and now 2022. Maybe you think all the come from behind, too close to call, reversals that go to the rats, etc. are legit. Maybe state AGs, election officials at key districts aren't controlled by globalist/swamp dark money. I wish I could be that naive.

Trump vs The Establishment? For his first 70 years, Trump epitomized The Establishment, which is historically defined as a closed social group or an elite that selects its own members and within which power is exercised. While it is possible he had a "Damascus Road" type of conversion, his popularity and name recognition, at least prior to 2015-16, was basically owing to his displays of wealth and the associated power and influence society bestows upon the super-wealthy. The Establishment was initially associated with the aristocratic elite of Great Britain and members of the Privy Council, senior civil servants, Church of England clergy, lawyers, academics, industrialists, and the high ranking military officers.
In the U.S., the Establishment's power elite were traditionally tied to the older East Coast cities, like NYC, Boston, Philadelphia, and Newport. The Boston Brahmins refer to a group of interconnected families with ties to Ivy League colleges and Northeastern prep schools, senior Establishment types. In the '60s and '70s, Establishment types were also referred to as "The Man." Sociologist C. Wright Mills, coined the term, "power elite," referring to those holding disproportionate wealth and political power over the decades, like the Kennedys and Rockefellers.
Today, it appears that "the Establishment" refers only to the political elite of the democrat and Republican parties and further, referring to RINOs, like Romney. I'm not saying Trump is "bad" for having parlayed his inherited wealth to to greater wealth and influence; that's actually admirable. I'm just saying that The Establishment can be viewed more broadly and the "outsider" Trump has been anything but.

If you are so daxxed tired of losing, stop showing up here and pushing Romney and Bush and another Bush and acknowledge the fact that you and yours, the political class and the postage stamp of principle you stand for are rejected whenever you are exposed. In whatever moniker(s) you wish to reinvent yourself.
