President Biden said Friday that coal plants are too expensive to operate, and "we're going to be shutting these plants down all across America" in order to shift to wind power in a comment that drew criticism from the Republican National Committee. (Snip) "So it's going to become a wind generation. And all they're doing is it’s going to save them a hell of a lot of money and using the same transmission line that they transmitted the coal-fired electric on, we're going to be shutting these plants down all across America and having wind and solar power, also providing

Despite the human tragedy that doctors and nurses witness on a daily basis in the emergency room, there’s often a reluctance to ever show any emotion. No tears, no panic, no breakdowns – at least not in front of others. “Vulnerability in healthcare is a pretty precious commodity,” said Dr. Mitch Radin, a Clinical Psychologist at Hennepin Healthcare Medical Center (HCMC) in downtown Minneapolis. Radin is now trying to change those unwritten rules inside one of the busiest emergency rooms in the state. “There’s a kind of belief that if people get too close to their emotions, or let anything

Voter turnout in Colorado’s early voting is lagging behind figures reported at this stage in the last midterm election, local NPR news outlet KUNC reported this week. Ballots returned by Monday showed that roughly 75,000 fewer Coloradans have cast their votes a week ahead of the Nov. 8 election than at this time in 2018. Unaffiliated voters, who make up the majority of Colorado’s voting base with Democrats coming in second and Republicans in third, have cast the greatest number of early ballots. (Snip) Data from the 2022 primaries showed that unaffiliated voters cast more Republican votes over the summer

LONGMONT, Colorado — The temperature is dipping down toward freezing Tuesday night and Toni Stark is getting worried about her rickety basement furnace holding out for another winter. Her plumber told her it will probably make it through, but at 99 years old, Stark isn't taking anything for granted – whether that's being able to keep the furnace running or remaining in her home as the electric and heating bills begin to mount with the cold. “I keep thinking about what to do if I have to replace it," she says from the living room of her one-story brick home

MSNBC presidential historian Michael Beschloss on Wednesday night warned that if Republican candidates win their races next week, American democracy and the free press could end, historians may no longer exist, and “our children” could all die at the hands of a “brutal authoritarian system.” President Joe Biden said in his Wednesday night speech that, in the upcoming midterms, “democracy itself is “at stake,” a message that MSNBC’s Chris Hayes and much of the media have been repeating for months. Hayes played clips from the speech, including the president saying that electing certain Republicans is a “path to chaos” —

Pennsylvania Republican Senate candidate Mehmet Oz is narrowly leading his Democratic opponent John Fetterman in a new survey from Emerson College Polling and The Hill conducted after last week’s highly-watched debate. The poll, released Thursday, finds Oz leading Fetterman 48 percent to46 percent among very likely voters, well within the survey’s three-point margin of error. Four percent said they were undecided. The poll marks a steady improvement for Oz, whose support has increased by five points since September. Fetterman’s support has only ticked up by one point. A New York Times piece pointing out President Biden’s gaffes from his Tuesday speech angered liberals on Twitter. Furious leftists on the platform swarmed the Times senior political reporter Maggie Haberman's tweet linking to the story, viciously insulting her and the report for making Biden and Democrats look bad. (Snip) In it, he wrote, "President Biden verbally fumbled during a campaign swing in Florida on Tuesday, confusing the American war in Iraq with the Russian war in Ukraine, and then he fumbled again while he tried to correct himself, misstating how his son Beau died in 2015." DENVER — Coloradans have warmed up to legalized psychedelic mushrooms in the last month, even though a small plurality still opposes them. The results of the FOX31 / Channel 2 / Emerson College Polling / The Hill poll conducted Oct. 26-29, show a marked uptick in approval for the upcoming election’s Proposition 122. The ballot initiative would decriminalize psychedelic plants and fungi, including DMT and psilocybin mushrooms, also known as “magic mushrooms.” Among voters of all political affiliations, 43% said they would support the measure, while 44.2% said they would oppose it. Another 12.8% said they are still unsure.

Gov. Brian Kemp has substantially widened his lead over Stacey Abrams in the Georgia governor’s race, managing to hold a double-digit advantage over his Democratic challenger with less than one week to Election Day, according to recent polling. In a rematch of their 2018 faceoff for the governor’s mansion, when Kemp narrowly defeated Abrams 50.2% to 48.8%, the Republican incumbent is faring much better than he did four years ago. About 55% of voters say they plan to back Kemp for a second term compared to just 44% who said they’ll vote for Abrams, according to a recent Monmouth University

Libertarian U.S. Senate candidate Marc Victor said Tuesday he was ending his campaign and asking his supporters to back Republican Blake Masters in a move that could nudge a narrow slice of voters in a race already expected to be close. Victor, an attorney whose campaign to oust Sen. Mark Kelly, D-Ariz., was always a long shot, held a one-on-one conversation with Masters on Monday that convinced him the best option for people who share his outlook this year is Masters. President Joe Biden threatened Monday to pursue higher taxes on oil company profits if industry giants do not work to cut gas prices. Biden has criticized oil companies that have made record-high profits as consumers struggle to keep up with high gas prices. The price of a gallon of gas was $3.76 on Monday, according to AAA, down from a record of over $5 in June but still higher than a year ago.
