November Surprise: There’ll Be No Thanksgiving
For Some

Many Americans were concerned last year that their Thanksgivings would not be celebrations of plenty but rather bitter experiences of want. This year, those fears have become a harsh reality in Joe Biden’s America, leaving one in four to say they will skip Thanksgiving in 2020 “to save money.” In November 2021, with the country’s first Thanksgiving under Biden’s unsteady hand approaching, families were facing a holiday meal that was 14% more expensive than the year before. It was only a few months after the Joe from Scranton administration had bragged that a Fourth of July barbecue would cost a full 16 cents less than the year before.

In certain cities, the underprivileged can simply steal their turkey and collard greens. It has always been free, one way or another. No problem getting a few extra days off from work either.

After reading and hearing about a possible turkey shortage, I decided to buy ours early. I found some at Aldi, and paid $25 for it, after every other year paying under $10 the week before Thanksgiving. Since we have been blessed, I bought two and will give the second one to someone who might otherwise have to skip the tradition because they can’t afford it. I also thought about skipping it, but didn’t want to spend the day angry at what Brandon’s evil cabal has done to this wonderful country. Besides, if we skip Thanksgiving, they have won. LGB! FJB! Vote, people!

The government provides food stamps for many Americans, nd you people would be astonsihed to know what can be purchases, legall, with food stamps. If food stamp reci[pients would not squander, or sell those food stams, 50 cents on the dollar, and they are willing to stand in line for a turkey, they can have a fine Thanksgiving dinner. The people who will not have such a fine opportunity might be those who make too much to qualify for food stamps, who can't afford to drive their car ro shop for the best prices on food, because of the price of gasoline. (Mrs. Lakerman and I are comfortably retired, but we have become careful consumers of gasoline. There are no more 20 miles away estate sales, just for the fun of it, and we consolidate our regular shopping trips to avoid burning gasonline. Our parents were children of the Roosevelt great depression, never got over it, and lived their lives accordingly. We are becoming our parents.)

If anyone lives in a small town like I do where there are at least two food pantries, just show up in your car and ask for some free food, including a turkey. You'll be surprised at how much food will be given to you and how there is no requirement to even show any financial need.

Right now we have a less than 25 day supply of diesel fuel. If it runs out, the trains and trucks stop taking food from farm to market and no one - no one - has a good thanksgiving, let alone anything to eat as we sit and freeze because we can't heat our homes. Thanks, Joe: thanks for everything.

To be followed by Christmas. Our church is receiving record requests for help for families who cannot afford presents for their kids this year.

Voters who think that putting Republicans in control of the House and Senate will make a big difference for the economy are in for a rude awakening. President Joe Biden has unleashed the regulatory Leviathan. Lawmakers will be hard-pressed to stop the damage. The Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI) just this morning released its hugely valuable report called “10,000 Commandments,” which is a compendium of the regulatory state. In it, CEI Vice President for Policy Clyde Wayne Crews lays out the terrible truth about Biden’s regulatory zeal. The first thing you have to understand about

There is thinking inside the box. Then there is living inside a bubble. And then there is thinking inside a bubble which is in a box in a cage in the basement tucked behind the furnace with a giant sign “Beware of the Leopard!” draped across it (apologies to Douglas Adams.) In politics – as in so many aspects of life – it’s always handy to know where your enemies are. In this case, the D.C. Democrats are right there, which is right where we want them. When you bring down unemployment, inflation goes up.” — Nancy Pelosi, Oct. 18 interview. For more than a year, Democrats have dismissed inflation, pointed the finger of blame at everyone but themselves, or tried to make it sound like we should be grateful because inflation “always happens” when the economy recovers. Way back in June 2021, President Joe Biden said higher prices “were expected and are expected to be temporary” because, you see, “you can’t flip the global economics light back and not expect this to happen.” The public never bought into this, but kudos to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for sticking with the Big Lie.

Despite both major parties claiming they have an advantage, the race for control of Congress appears to be a dead heat, the most recent I&I/TIPP data show. But there’s a big potential surprise element that could tilt the balance sharply: Nearly one out of every seven registered voters, or 15%, are “not sure” whom they’ll vote for. The online poll of 1,158 voters across the country was taken from October 5-7, with a margin of error of +/- 2.9 points. The poll asked those responding: “What is your preference for the outcome of this November’s congressional elections?” Answers showed the sharp division among the electorate,

Like many sentient beings, we are often frustrated by the rank hypocrisy of politicians and the press whose moral compass is always set to True Left. But sometimes we forget just how flagrant it is. Case in point is the hysteria over President Trump’s election “denialism.” The press automatically appends the word “lie” anytime anyone suggests that the 2020 election wasn’t on the up and up. Democrats portray November’s election as a “fight for Democracy” because a vote for a Republican is a vote for election-denying-Jan. 6-terrorist-sympathizing fascists. Just bringing up the idea of election fraud is tantamount to treason.

It’s stunning to hear President Biden (and the rest of the Democrats) spin our growing energy crisis. Like a child with his hand caught in the cookie jar, Biden continually tells the American people, “I didn’t do it!” In fact, yes he did. And he still is. “Let’s debunk some myths: My administration has not stopped or slowed U.S. oil production,” Biden said on Wednesday, adding that he’s “doing everything in my power to reduce gasoline prices.” Is that true? In fact, the entire energy policy of the Biden administration has been directed at not just slowing, but stopping U.S. oil production. The intended result:

Donald Trump’s win over Hillary Clinton in 2016 led to an election denial that still runs hot today in Democrat circles. But the left also threw anti-Trump tantrums across the country, many of them long before anyone had voted. Should Republicans unseat the Democratic majorities in the House and Senate in the coming midterms, as is expected, we will again see the childishness and narcissism that drives the Democratic Party. Who can forget the videos of celebrities as well as the unknowns wailing and shrieking and coming apart at the thought of Trump in the White House? In several instances, the demonstrations

Just how far will the leftist media go to protect President Joe Biden? If the past couple of weeks are any indication, there is no limit. Take the incident in late September where Biden repeatedly called out for a dead congresswoman to come forward. [snip] Most cognizant Americans saw this for what it was: Another worrisome sign that Biden’s mental acuity is rapidly declining. For the press, however, it was an opportunity to praise the 79-year-old. Jill Lawrence, a former commentary editor at USA Today, wrote that “there’s another way to look at this.” Namely, she said, it shows “how generous and professional Biden is.”

Americans overwhelmingly believe that the U.S. has a serious problem with controlling its southern border as a record flow of illegal immigration leaves many scratching their heads over whether immigration laws are enforced at all. With midterm elections just around the corner, which party has the edge on this key issue? According to October’s I&I/TIPP Poll, the answer is Republicans. For October’s public opinion survey, I&I/TIPP asked voters a simple question: “Which party would do a better job of securing the border?” More Americans picked the Republican Party (43%) over the Democratic Party (34%), the online poll of 1,376 adults taken from Oct. 5-7 showed.

"Elon Musk’s plan to lay off 75% of Twitter workers will hurt Twitter’s ability to serve the public conversation," reads a draft of the letter, which has not yet been published. "A threat of this magnitude is reckless, undermines our users’ and customers’ trust in our platform, and is a transparent act of worker intimidation."

Two weeks before the most important off-year elections in the history of the nation isn’t a good time for Democrats to realize that the narrative that they’ve been relentlessly pushing has been a complete failure, but that’s the reality for a party that bet everything on portraying the January 6, 2021 chaos at the Capitol as a serious effort to overthrow “democracy” and is only now beginning to realize that voters could care less.
