PayPal stock tumbled Monday after reports circulated that the company’s updated acceptable use policy would fine users $2500 for spreading “misinformation.”
Shares of the online payments system operator were trading 5.74 percent lower at $84.99 as of noon on Monday. On Sunday, it was reported that PayPal changed the language of the restricted activity section on its AUP to include a clause threatening to impose a $2500 penalty “debited directly from your PayPal account” for an expanded list of prohibited activities.
The new conditions were supposed to launch effective November 3, the Daily Wire first reported. Changes included a ban on “the sending, posting, or publication of any messages, content, or materials”

You know what I’m reading online? More people are still planning on cancelling their accounts, they just haven’t done it yet. PayPal is no longer trusted. Doesn’t matter what they say now, they’ve revealed themselves as untrustworthy.

Good. I dumped pay pal when they decided it was OK for guys to use the girls restroom and threatened to move out of North Carolina because of their restroom usage laws...

They've admitted who they are, regardless if they backtrack.
Use local banks, use independent everything. When possible don't host your website with Google (looking tat Lucianne here). Etc.
It's like getting natural gas from Putin. Don't become dependent on enemies.

I'm surprised it isn't more. Will they 'fine' stock buyers for selling off their stock?

It’s very easy to cancel your PayPal account. It took me less than 2 minutes. It felt good to strike back.

I closed PP several years ago when they ripped me off and wouldn't correct it. All my transactions are completed by charging my VISA account directly. And when I have questions or disputes VISA is always prompt and helpful.

What legal right do they have to simply "fine" one of their clients and effectively steal $2,500 from them for something that has absolutely nothing to do with the service being rendered? These idiots need to be sued for stupidity.

I was planning to quit paypal today but got an email for donating to a charity on their list lately. It was a pet shelter.
I was able to set my charity to the Texas State Rifle Association Foundation, so I did that. I am curious how long it is before they figure out what that is. I know they are extremely against citizens being able to protect themselves.

PayPal reportedly also owns Venmo, so make sure you close that account too. I closed PayPal Saturday evening and will close Venmo tonight. Go woke, go broke. Go totalitarian and you will be found out, like what happened here.

I cancelled PayPal yesterday, today am cancelling Venmo. Granted, I only had two recurring charges on PP, and only used Venmo for my personal trainer 1/week. But it's a moral victory. And if thousands and millions of people like me, infrequent users, cancel, it does send a message. Get Woke, Go Broke. They just can't help themselves!

Is PayPal going to send $2500 to each of us who read THEIR misinformation?

Good enough for them!
I wonder, though, if they did it, if everyone affected sued, that information would have to be reviewed in court and if the "misinformation" was accurate, they would not be in business long......

I continue to be amazed at corporations who, despite all evidence to the contrary, embrace leftist causes and expect that good things will happen.
