The PayPal Fiasco Was No Accident

PayPal on Oct. 8 sent out an update to its terms of use, or acceptable use policy (AUP). It included a shocking addition. It reserved the right to confiscate $2,500 from people’s accounts if they spread “misinformation.” It was a clear announcement of what many already suspected: PayPal has enlisted in the information war.
This comes weeks after PayPal blocked several important accounts in the UK, including Toby Young’s personal account, the Free Speech Union, and the DailySceptic. These are hugely important venues for the English-speaking world in countering the COVID propaganda narrative. It was no accident that they were targeted.
After global protests and news coverage from alternative sources, PayPal relented

It is helpful to be informed that PayPal has access to its customers' accounts whereby it can summarily impose "fines." I will NEVER again have anything to do with PayPal.

Take it seriously folks. Pay Pal is small potatoes. What if Chase, Bank of America, Visa or American Express start doing this tomorrow? This is useful in the sense the direction of Leftist thinking has been exposed.

How can they take $2,500.00 out of an account if the account holder does not have any money in a Pay Pal account and just uses Pay Pal as a pay agent for internet credit card purchases?

I have managed to live comfortably without using PayPal ever. If a seller cones not accept a credit card from an established financial institution and only accepts PayPal, I take my purchase elsewhere.

Is #3 is the canary in the coal mine?? It's completely logical to think that major bank institutions will be doing the same thing. What now???

Had a PayPal account for my (small) non-profit organization, mainly to collect annual dues and donations.
I just closed this PP account last night. Will be using GiveButter instead.

I had a PayPal account. A fraudulent charge was placed in the account. I contacted PayPal, and a robot informed me that it examined my account and the charge was valid. Very difficult to deal with those people. if your $2500 disappears I question what you could do about it.
Yes this is a plan. Confiscate money from the disobedient. You will obey or be moved into the lowest echelon housing under the overpass.

Who are the misinformation police? How do they gather the names of those putting it out and how do they report it to PP?? Who decides what the alleged misinformation is? It is a vast conspiracy of unbelievable proportions.

PayPal has not changed it's 'mistake' the $2,500 is still in the terms of agreement they have NOT been deleted. If you want them access to your bank accounts go ahead. not me, I canceled my account yesterday and will not get a new one. Credit cards work just as well.

I've used a Federal Credit Union for over 35 years. Banks have too many rules & regulations. Plus banks charge for every transaction you make. Credit Union has super security also.

I wasn't aware that PayPal can access bank accounts. In my previous dealings with them, once I authorized a transaction, my credit card was billed simultaneously. The original purpose of PayPall was to leverage their clout in the event of a dispute between the vendor and buyer. I've only sought their intervention once, and it turned out well for me. I'm also not aware of any vendor requiring the use of PayPal.

Oh there certainly are vendors that require you go through pay pal. I've encountered registration sites that require you use pay pal to register for their conference.

What I've always done is cancel my account with pay pal after I've used them to do a registration. It's pretty easy to cancel them. Only use pay pal when I absolutely have no choice.

@#4 - They can just do it. If they bill your acct and you don't pay they can refer the lack of payment to a collection agency and screw up your credit. You can spend the rest of your life trying to fix that. I suppose you could sue them but that in and of itself is cost prohibited and time consuming for most people.

I used PayPal for many years but only as a pass-through for a (non-Paypal) credit card to make online purchases.
It was a way to send payment without revealing my credit-card number to a possibly 'sketchy' seller.
Paypal tried, over and over, to get me to link my Paypal account directly to my bank account.
I refused. I may have been Born in the Night, but it wasn't Last Night!
I finally had to accept a Paypal credit card...... it went into my file, and was never activated.
I see that Gab has a system up and running called Gab Pay.
It might be worth keeping an eye on, and possibly switching to that if it gains enough traction.

PayPal is also being hacked. I closed my account ten years ago and I'm still getting e-mails like "thank you for updating your information." Scary stuff if they had a good credit card on file.

#3, #6, the banks do it already in the form of ridiculously high credit card interest and insane late penalties like a $30 fee if you are late with a $10 credit card payment. The best way around it is to pay off the credit card as soon as it gets posted. All they can do after that is hit the vendor for 3-4% for the transaction that their computer processed.

This isn’t really about the inner workings of PayPal. It’s about the leftist movement to cancel free speech that fits nicely into the globalist movement to force everyone into communism. Obviously consumers still have some influence here but for how long?

Fascinating that there are people, mostly of the left it seems, who can tell immediately if something said or done, usually from the right, is 'misinformation.' If this is so, then these savants likely know a bit about the future. It also appears that these highly intelligent people lean towards Joe Biden politically. So, wanting Joe Biden to be president, these very smart people had a good idea that, as president, Biden would do the things he has done. And they liked it! And still do, apparently. Huh.

My first thought was that the FBI must have paid a visit to Pay Pal extolling the virtues of controlling information in the same manner that they visited Facebook’s Zuckerberg with their veiled threats.

I had to use pay pal for one transaction on e-bay which the seller demand I do. I did then after I received the merchandise closed the membership it was easy. I did the same thing with Netflix one-month free trial close that useless account after three days.
My best tool is the Credit Union for online purchases.

No one is permitted to utter anything that runs counter to the mass delusions that human activity causes climate change, covid originated in a wet market and not a lab in Wuhan, Black failure is caused by White privilege, there are more than two genders, and Joe Biden won the election. To challenge any of these delusions sends their adherents shrieking in panic to their safe spaces and calling for the destruciton of those who give voice to forbidden thoughts.

A few months ago, we saw the handwriting on the wall and closed our Bank of America Visa account we have had for over 25 years. BoA is part of the WOKE and evil Leftist agenda and we couldn't abide by their corporate political involvement in our First Amendment and Biden's agenda. So we left! Should have done it sooner!
We still have PP but it's inactive. In the past we used PayPal with buying items on eBay. We will be closing the account and if a company only requires PP for payment, then we will go elsewhere.

I have no interest in pay pal...never had...it's just another form of control...and I don't like anyone controlling me...if I choose to contribute to a cause...I send them a money order with NO attachment to my personal information...besides...giving should be anonymous if it's truly a gift....

I'm betting on #12 and the response he may receive from the My Pillow guy. Lindell and Trump might possibly retire some day in the distant future and will want something to do besides Golfing when it's raining or snowing where they live. Maybe PayPal took a page from my parents' book: if one is the bad guy, punish them all, then reinstate the two that didn't misbehave.

That will be the ULTIMATE TYRANNY! If we let them do away with cold hard cash, we will be forever enslaved and there will be NO Freedom anymore.
