In 1990, Ken Burns was the great talent behind The Civil War, an epic nine-episode PBS documentary that he made for PBS. It was comprehensive, gorgeous, heartbreaking, and riveting. His later work wasn’t as good but it was still damned good. But Burns, like so many leftists, is now so riddled with hatred for Republicans that he cheapens his every utterance and destroys his own legacy. The latest example is how he’s used his upcoming documentary, The US and the Holocaust, to bash modern Republicans and cover for WWII-era Democrats.

I loved The Civil War and Burns's Country Music documentary is stellar. I also enjoyed The Dust Bowl. He is a very good documentary maker. Ken, just shut up before you totally ruin your legacy.

I can only go by my 24 month experience in Vietnam during the war. I saw his documentary on it and am not sure how he missed so much, when there are so many witnesses left. He is agenda driven.

I never cared for Burns and his subtle injection of his politics into his historical narratives. Bruce Catton's awesome trilogy on the Civil War was probably what Burns lifted for his series, IMO.

Funded with our Federal tax dollars, this is a violation of the Hatch Act and Federal Campaign finance laws. Remember back in the day what we used to do when people broke the law? Now we ask what their party affiliation is and then either send in a SWAT team or give them a trophy.

Ken Burns is who I always thought he was, an overrated, insufferable leftist.
As for his documentaries, 'Civil War' was memorable thanks to the music and the letters the soldiers wrote to loved ones. And I hadn't realized just how painfully boring my favorite sport was until I watched his 'Baseball' documentary.

really KB is only a skinny michael moore. His agenda is in every “ mockumentary” , just sneakier ..but you have to know the history to see it .

When Ken was making the Civil War he was scraping by sleeping on peoples couchs.
Now he is flush with money and thinks he can do no wrong.
His brother Ric is actually a better film maker.

Being an American Civil War and Russian Revolution historian, I first heard the of the praises Ken Burnes received watching it up to a point that I turned it off. Burns hounded the slavery in south angle too much making it like the war was all about only that. I became tired of his never-ending pictures I'm sure he searched out every image just to hack off people like me. The war was complex more about industry and rivalry in competition to survive equal or separately. Burns production of events can be commended but his reason is somewhat shady.

Now that he’s financially secure and nearing the end of his career and like Letterman he can afford to show his political bias, see ya Ken

Burns is a hypocrite who needs to re-do "The Civil War". His original version casts confederates as honorable people fighting for mistaken causes, including the preservation of slavery. By his standards today, these people should be forever vilified for their naive actions, led by wild-eyed racists like Lee, Jackson and others. Tear down your own statues, Ken.

My husband is a Civil War historian who has written two books on specific battles. He says that Burns’ CW series is full of errors. The accolades heaped on Burns for that series were primarily because nothing like it had ever been seen before. We never bothered to watch anything Burns made after the CW series even though my husband is a huge baseball fan.

I wonder if Governor DeSantis has Ken Burns' home address, so he can send him the next planeload of illegals?

Burns has already destroyed his legacy, if there ever was one. Frankly, the Civil War film has never been critically reviewed for accuracy, or subtle messaging.

I saw him interviewed many years ago and he said some nasty things about the people living in southern states. It's been so long ago I can't remember what he said BUT I do remember it was nasty and showed his hateful bias. Wonder if he still has that kooky haircut with the long bangs -- because he looked like a nut.

Last night I read the TV schedule and thought the topic would be worth watching. But I also noticed it was on PBS. I guessed it would be by Ken Burns and tuned out.
Too bad about PBS. Decades ago I contributed to the LA station but now I think all government funding should end.

We also loved The Country Music Documentary but now I am left wondering if some parts were emphasized more broadly than they should have been. He really ruined his legacy for us…..too late.
