The end is near. For Putin’s military options in Ukraine, that is. Wednesday in Moscow, Putin said he will call up reservists and hold political referenda in captured Ukrainian territory. And yet again, he threatened to use nuclear weapons if Russian territory is in danger.
Despite the scary language, Putin is not fooling anybody in NATO. Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg lost no time pointing out that Russia doesn’t have enough weapons to equip more troops. White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby immediately said the speech showed Putin was struggling. And at the UN, President Biden denounced Putin’s war.
Putin’s biggest problem is that Russia is losing and Ukraine has

If Putin falls, what comes next? A new dictator may be the best option. A breakup of the Russia alliance and even Russia itself would only add to world instability

Is this Pentagon psyops, or was Fox News, or the author paid to write this article? The media has lost all credibility. I don't believe the war is near its end, or that anyone is winning this war.

Depends how willing Putin (and Russia) wants to go for a "win" in Ukraine. Chemical weapons, torture, and even tactical nukes all are options.
As long as the idiot policies of Sleepy Creepy Crooked President Uncle Joe and the financial backing of India, China, Iran and European energy consumers throws hard currency into Vlad's treasury (thanks, Brandon!), the war continues.
Or unless a few more Russian generals get po'ed that another one of their general friends gets offed by the Ukranians because the Russian troops are so poorly trained and managed that the generals are way too close to the front lines so they can get anything accomplished. Then Vlad may be spending some more time at his dacha. Above ground or below ground.

don't underestimate what a desperate man may do...already the UN/NATO/Biden have announced their "punishment" of Russia will be looooong term, him retreating to his own borders will not alter that, might make it worse for him and Russia.
He can blast all pipelines, transmission lines, railroads and roads that connect them to europe, pivot east and buy /sell exclusively with non-euro nations, china/turkey/India. It will be an economic nuke, euro/US economies will take a major hit, stocks plummet....china then buys up a LOT while prices are at the bottom. Russia has VAST untapped/untouched natural resources, most of which are in the eastern regions anyway.

Don’t believe it for a second. Swoosh, there goes another 16 billion of our hard earned tax dollars to Ukraine. Don’t get me wrong, I hate what Putin is doing. I also hate what Biden & Co are doing to America.

Putin threatens to nuke Ukraine.
Putin claims Ukraine is part of Russia.
Putin is threatening to nuke his own people.
That will work out real well.
The United States started testing Russia's resolve when Obama was President. Just look at Obama's Syria adventure that had Republican blessing. Biden is continuing that policy in Ukraine. Only God knows what the long term consequences of this will be.
Hope Russia realizes they will lose a nuclear war too.

Will the 300,000 Russian conscripts quickly find their way to our Southern border? Why be cannon fodder when you can claim asylum in the US? “Comrades, fly me to this Vineyard we’ve heard about. “
Mass desertions may be the only way to stop this horrible war .

I never would have believed that simple commercial drones with hand grenades dropping through open hatches on Russian tanks and other vehicles would win the war. Russia will stop their aggression soon and settle for whatever territory they totally control and end it. They well not use a nuclear weapon because the radioactivity would pollute everything and that’s not an option.

If Putin wants to threaten to use nuclear weapons, the USA should send this message, We will explode a nuclear weapon inside the Kremlin. Just enough to kill everyone inside and contaminate the building for centuries.

For those who don’t think Vlad would nuke Ukraine because of radiation, I highly suggest you google, “Chernobyl Exclusion Zone.” This BS article is brought to you by the same outfit that pays Hannity to push the vaccine, invites every old Bush never-trumper to bash Trump during breaking news, and sent Chrissie Wallace out to throw a Presidential debate to Biden. Before Vlad creates more glow-in-the-dark Ukrainians, he’d be doing the world a favor if he landed a few in Manhattan. After all, Fauci and crew have zero problems with collateral damage so neither should I. There are precisely ZERO American patriots in Manhattan.

So much wishcasting. I don't like him, but in my opinion, Putin did not get to his current position by being stupid. Most, although not all (but who's counting?) Russians support Putin and his actions in Ukraine. That's all that matters to him. Well, that and the support he is receiving from China, Turkey, Iran and to a lesser extent, India. Putin has said publicly that he will be satisfied with the oblasts that are holding referenda relative to secession from Ukraine and joining the Russian Federation. Once that occurs, the game is over, since he will then be able to claim that further attacks on those oblasts by Ukraine/NATO constitute attacks on Russia itself and retaliate accordingly. He is not about to cave under the laughable "sanctions" imposed; he can strangle Europe by turning off the gas entirely, and sell all his gas, oil and coal to China and India. Russia is basically autarchic in food and energy production; anything else they need or want they can acquire from their trading partners to the East. Time will tell, but under no set of circumstances do I see America or Europe coming out ahead.

Putin has finally realized what several skilled and knowledgeable commentators online, several that I follow, have been saying for months. He started with WAY too few infantry troops in his armor-heavy "Battalion Task Groups". Many of his armored personnel carriers, when knocked out by Ukrainians, were found to be only containing the crew of three....none of what the military calls "dismounts"....soldiers whose job is to do ground infantry fighting, not drive the vehicle or fight the vehicle's weapons. Armored vehicles are pretty easily killed when they don't have adequate dismounted infantry protecting them from antitank weapons. Infantry and armor are a team, one without the other is far more easily destroyed than a proper mix of the two, well trained and working effectively together. This was a lesson well learned in WW2.
This is what happened to the northern attack, and why so many armored vehicles were destroyed. And their resupply convoys were easily disrupted, so the fuel-thirsty armored vehicles quickly ran short on fuel and many were abandoned, in addition to the large numbers destroyed due to no infantry support and many excellent antitank weapons for individual Ukrainian infantrymen.
Then they pulled out of the north, and went to the south, using Donbass break away area minimally trained volunteers and a smattering of their top notch paratroopers to fight, but mostly a grinding, slow, ultra destructive artillery war. And they chewed through a lot of their few, skilled airborne troops. After a while artillery shells started running short, so they started buying artillery shells from North Korea, because they can't make them as fast as they have been shooting them, tens of thousands per day. And artillery barrels have a relatively short lifetime, perhaps 500 or 1000 rounds, and then a new "tube" is needed. And they are shooting out all their tubes....with little capacity to produce more at the rate that they are consuming them, too. Their military manufacturing capacity is not anything remotely like it was in WW2.
So, now Putin is calling up conscripts, after recognizing his error. But how quickly can they reach the field? A conscript with four weeks training is pretty much cannon fodder. It takes many months, preferably a year or even more to make a really skilled infantryman. Does Putin have the required time now?
Will the Russian people support conscription?
Will the conscripts fight well or try to "get buy"?
Is the war popular enough that people want to fight it or just want to survive it?
I don't know the answers to those questions.
They are critical to understanding how this goes from here.

I have to ask, again. How can I trust any news or " intelligence" when I have been told for decades that Russia has such a mighty military thay we have to spend billions of treasure on our military and also fund NATO to defend against and defeat it.
Now that mighty force is being defeated by Ukraine ?
We are suckers.

It’s this type of article that keeps the killing and destruction going. There no basis to assume the vast Russian professional military, which up this point has not been significantly involved, will not be able to destroy Ukraine’s military capability if necessary. The US couldn’t defeat North Vietnam in ten years with agent orange, B52s, the most sophisticated weapons in existence and half a million men. How is Ukraine going to defeat Russia? How is the US going to defeat Russia? Ukraine had numerous chances to avoid war, but took council from the West. Look what it has gotten everyone.

Interesting claims, #21. You must have gotten them from some of the Russian "information" sites, which are just a fictional or even more so, than some of the Ukrainian sites.
Perhaps looking for some sites which look at both sides and search for facts from both and integrate that with hard facts like photos and videos to get a more accurate picture may be a better approach.

I think #19 has it about right...a colossal blunder after he realized we had a President weakened by dementia. I don’t know Putin’s thinking but after Obama ceded the Crimea to him I think he thought annexing Ukraine would be easy. He has no way out now other than calling off this war which will mean he will lose all power and be lucky not to be executed or assassinated. Ukraine is winning now on the ground and in world opinion. Vlad’s days are numbered but he still has nukes and a desperate man is dangerous.

In any war one of the most important things is the Will to Win.
Ukrainians have that Will.
The Russians don't.
