“Homelessness in New York City has reached the highest levels since the Great Depression of the 1930s,” the Coalition for the Homeless reports.
After decades of failure, New York City homelessness keeps getting worse. The only people who appear to be benefiting are the ones who make a pretty penny “serving” the homeless. The homeless–an ever expanding group in our major cities–are still sleeping rough and dying of overdoses. This despite the fact that NYC spends about $43,750 per year per homeless person — 50% more than it spends on each schoolchild. That adds up to billions of dollars in spending with nothing but disastrous results to show for it.

Empty out the mental institutions and the prisons into the streets, and then declare "an emergency".
No, imprison some, and put others in mental institutions with locked doors, and some should get outpatient treatment, perhaps.

Democrats believe crazy ideas and then force all of us to live with their insanity. Release prisoners, close mental health hospitals, legalize drugs, open borders, defund the police, microaggressions, men allowed in girls bathrooms, trannies putting on shows for little children, critical race theory, Brandon won the election with 81 million votes, the Iran nuclear deal, climate change instead of global warming/cooling, co 2 is a poison, etc etc. Crazy and stupid. Look at the people in office and running for office as Democrats. Fetterman? AOC? Brandon? Pelosi? Schumer? Hillary?

Federal taxpayer largesse pays the fortunes of many "charitable" foundations who employ Democrat operatives who run these organizations.

Attending a downtown church for years, (& a little study) I’ve learned quite a bit about the homeless. 75% are drug or alcohol addicted, a small percentage choose the lifestyle, & the balance have mental issues. A socialist, corrupt & moronic mayor and city council rolled out the red carpet with freebies for the homeless. They in turn moved to Austin from all over the country. They were from all over the country, mainly the Northeast. The answer for these downtrodden is spiritual. The city has spent multi-millions on these folks, to no avail. After all but adopting a couple; we bought them bikes, tents, sleeping bags, clothes, phones and gave them cash. They continued in their drug use while it was a bottomless money pit for us. I’m curious how other countries successfully deal with their homeless.

When democrats are in charge of any problem, it will get worse not better and taxpayers will pay out of the nose to fund their failed ideas. Democrats have destroyed the culture by enabling drug use, going soft on criminals, promoting depravity, and destroying the concept of a good work ethic. They promise everything to these people with no expectation at all of any contribution by them. They do not expect them to stop their drug abuse, they enable them to use more. They allow them to defecate in the streets and sidewalks and do nothing to stop it. Their cities are violent, filthy, and filled with homeless drug addicts who have serious mental issues from their use of every kind of drug on the street. What would possess anyone to want to create an environment like this? Are they insane or just evil? Nothing will change until democrats and all their ridiculous and ineffective pie in the sky schemes are thoroughly rejected. If we peel back this onion, we will come to the root and that is the love of money is the root of all evil. There are too many people, NGO’s, charities who are raking in the dough to actually want to enact real workable solutions. It always comes down to money.

There is a very fine line between enabling and helping. Basically, enabling involves doing something FOR someone which he/she could do for themself. Substance abusers intentionally target hand-wringers who will give them whatever they can use for their next fix. Politicians lump all homeless people together, as though they’re all just pathetic souls who happened to hit rough patches and need “help.” That is NOT the case and they know it, just as they know that enabling a substance abuser is the WORST thing they can do. All they care about is looking like they care. The media will take it from there.

'Homeless' is a prime example of Orwellian double-speak.
Every wave of social destruction is preceded by reclassifying something by renaming it. When I was young, unkempt, disheveled people on the streets were referred to as bums or vagrants. Over time, progressives began to refer to them as homeless - a term that evokes sympathy or depravation of necessities through no fault of their own, rather than a willful choice to avoid work or responsibility or to make drugs their priority. The former terms were cast onto the radioactive woke pile.
You ain't seen nothing yet! Wokeness is now pushing to replace the terms 'criminals' and 'convicts' with 'justice involved'.

I'm willing to bet...the money spent on the homeless in democrat cities is being shared with the politicians...and thats why they won't solve the problem...the homeless is their ticket to the bank and the taxpayers are paying for it....

I did seven years hard time at my county's Socialist Services in the 2000's. A sister analyst began the start-up Homeless Program at the same time I began the start-up In-Home Supportive Services Program. We were both conservatives who took the jobs because we believed these new programs would be helping people who truly needed help, as opposed to the career welfare scammers.
We journeyed together through the underbelly of democrat government private service contracts and union partnerships. We shared our experiences and frustrations dealing with our supervisors. In the beginning years we naively complained about the contractors and union activities to our supervisors and upper management. We documented their lack of service and their breaches of promise to deaf ears and to no avail. Eventually we came under scrutiny; did we return from break and lunch at exactly at the right minute, reports were returned for rewrites several times with minor grammar changes, we were barred from going to all-county meetings for the programs we oversaw. We were cancelled. We both quit at the same time.
This is the Dem fascist playbook. This time they are up against President Donald J. Trump. This time they have met their match. I firmly believe God is not done with America. The question is whether or not America is done with God. Gather your family, your neighbors and friends, go to church and pray together. Catholics fast and pray the Rosary and the Divine Mercy Chaplet. Without God first all our political actions will be for naught.
