Joe Biden on Monday said ending cancer 'as we know it' was one of the reasons he ran for president as he supercharged his 'Cancer Moonshot' initiative with a shot of glamour from the Kennedy family.
Biden, who wants to cut cancer deaths in half over the next 25 years, said cancer can be transformed into a disease that can be managed and lived with. He issued his new call to arms at the John F. Kennedy Library, on the 60th anniversary of Prsident Kennedy's famous 'Moonshot' speech, where JFK rallied America to beat Russia to the moon—which was accomplished in 1969.

Life, death, newborns entering the world, a CEO raking in millions, politicians calling for an investigation: all part of the drama swirling around Maimonides Medical Center, which lost a staggering $145 million last year. It’s Brooklyn’s largest hospital, and newly released financials show it barely has the cash to make it through another year.(Snip)Worse, the same basic story is being repeated at hospitals everywhere that treat the poor. Safety-net hospitals are bleeding red ink because Medicaid, the government health-insurance program, shortchanges hospitals, paying them only 67 cents for every dollar of care. Most hospitals shift the 33% in unmet costs to the privately insured patient

More FBI whistleblowers have stepped forward to Congress and accused high-ranking bureau officials of bringing unauthorized smartphones into top-secret facilities, a security breach that can expose classified materials. This time, the FBI said it is investigating the complaints and “takes all security matters seriously.” The alleged security violations occurred in a sensitive compartmented information facility or SCIF set up for the executive offices on the 7th floor of the FBI’s J. Edgar Hoover Building, according to the whistleblower. The new complaint follows The Washington Times’ exclusive report last week detailing an FBI agent disclosing to Congress that FBI Deputy Director Paul Abatte, among other top agents, broke security

Washington—When Emmanuel Obeng-Dankwa is worried about making rent on his New York City apartment, he sometimes holds off on filling his blood pressure medication. “If there’s no money, I prefer to skip the medication to being homeless,” said Obeng-Dankwa, a 58-year-old security guard. He is among a majority of adults in the U.S. who say that health care is not handled well in the country, according to a new poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research. The poll reveals that public satisfaction with the U.S. health care system is remarkably low, with fewer than half of Americans saying it is generally

Chick-fil-A scrambled to explain itself after a reply to a customer with the phrase “your community” sparked allegations of racism.
The social media backlash began last Friday after one user tweeted the message “grilled spicy deluxe but still noooo spicy nuggets” to the fast-food giant’s official account. “Your community will be the first to know if spicy items are added to the permanent menu, Don!” Chick-fil-A’s account responded. A review of Chick-fil-A’s social media account showed the company has frequently used the phrase in recent days to convey they will announce when spicy chicken nuggets return to their menu in specific areas.

Sen. Chuck Schumer said Sunday that he will push Congress for a $3 billion infusion of federal cash to rescue the financially troubled 9/11 health-care fund. The New York Democrat and Senate majority leader said he will seek to secure the funds in the federal budget to offset the expected shortfall in the World Trade Center Health Program, which provides medical care and services for first responders and others affected by the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks. “We have seen the toll a funding crisis takes on our 9/11 heroes and those made sick by the despicable attack on New York 21 years ago,” Schumer said,

The White House is asking Congress for another $5 billion to bus, fly, and house the southern flood of economic migrants into Americans’ workplaces and housing. Any additional funding will accelerate the federal “cheap labor distribution [network] that too many politicians in Washington are willing to participate in,” said John Feere, a former homeland security official. He now works for the Center for Immigration Studies. The inflow of workers, renters, and consumers “benefits groups on both sides of the border—governments, human smuggling operations, and businesses,” he told Breitbart News. The request is part of a budget request—a “Short-term Continuing Resolution”—sent by the White House to Congress.

The Eiffel Tower, whose twinkling lights define the night-time Paris skyline, is to fall dark earlier because of the energy crisis. Paris city hall is expected to propose this week that the monument, which is among the most visited in the world, should go dark more than an hour earlier than usual, as Europe faces spiralling energy costs aggravated by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The Eiffel Tower is currently illuminated after dark until 1am by an elaborate lighting system that gives it a golden glow.(Snip)The city hall is expected to propose that the tower fall dark at 11.45pm when the final visitors leave, meaning it will no longer

From January 2021 to April 2022, at least 673 athletes are said to have died from sudden death. This number is only 428 deaths less than the 1100 known to have died as outlined by a study on sudden death in athletes from 1966 through 2004. Those 1101 athlete deaths occurred over almost 40 years and yet 673 died over an only 16 month period since COVID vaccines have been introduced. Good Sciencing has that number closer to 1323 and includes a comprehensive list of each athlete death.(Snip)Good Sciencing reports, “It is definitely not normal for so many mainly young athletes to suffer from cardiac arrests or to die

Police have charged the man accused of the kidnapping and murder of billionaire heiress Eliza Fletcher in another unrelated kidnapping that took place a year prior, according to court records released on Friday. Cleotha Abston, 38, was handed down a second indictment during a Thursday hearing that saw a judge deny him bail for his prospective part in Fletcher's death. The city Department of Education is rolling out the red carpet to asylum-seeking migrants, helping them cut through red tape to get at least 1,500 border-crossing kids enrolled in public schools. The influx of school-age children–among the roughly 8,000 newcomers bused to Manhattan since May by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott–stands to help the enrollment-starved DOE reap millions of dollars in new revenue. More than half–or $12,725–of the DOE’s $25,334 per-student funding is picked up by the state and federal government, according to estimates provided by the watchdog Independent Budget Office.(Snip)“These students will need additional services–including language instruction, and social

Gov. Kathy Hochul had New Yorkers pay twice as much for COVID tests from a company tied to nearly $300,000 in donations to her campaign compared to other state vendors, a new report details, raising fresh concerns of alleged pay-to-play behavior ahead of the Nov. 8 election. “Whether it was pay-to-play or total incompetence–New York taxpayers and then the federal taxpayers got massively ripped off,” John Kaehny, of the good-government group Reinvent Albany, said of the Digital Gadgets deal funded by New York taxpayers with the help of federal relief aid. While some companies charged the state just $5 for rapid tests, the N.J.-based
