Almost Here.

I never would have expected that I’d be one of those codgers who tools around in a vintage automobile, but circumstances dictated that I am. (snip) But the guy who fixes the Explorer, who knows what I do, asked me an interesting question when I brought the vehicle in.
“Scott, do you think it’s ever going back to normal?” he said.
He’s struggling to keep his shop open. He’s fixing cars himself, which he thought he was past doing, and he’s got to supervise the people who do show up to work at his place like a hawk because workmanship is a lost art.

That is a great but unsettling read. Thank you for posting that.

I have several vehicles, but we driver our 4Runner in the winter and out to the mountains of Colorado because of the 4 wheel drive. It's older than his Explorer, and has never needed any work beyond fluids changes, tire changes and brake pad changes, plus a battery. Ordinary wear items. Nothing has actually failed on the car beyond the o-ring on the gas cap about 10 years ago, fixed with a new gas cap for $20. It's a Toyota.
And much of what is going on is driven by external events which absolutely have demographics as their underlying causes, and demographics is as absolutely inexorable as anything on earth. If in 2009, your country didn't generate enough babies, there is nothing that you can EVER do to "fix" that. I ran across a very interesting commentator and apparently expert on the topic of demographics a few weeks ago, and have watched a number of his presentations to various government, military and private groups here and in other countries. While I find his certainty that he has figured out the future for the next 50+ years based on his demographics and other information applied to that demographic info, I do think that he likely has more insight into the pressures and forces which are now and will be shaping the world in the next 20-50 years and beyond. Do I believe ALL of his predicitons? Not really, but I think that much of his underlying facts are correct and the forces that they set in motion are positively tectonic in the sense that they are huge, immutable and unstoppable. I think he's worth paying some atention to, it helps explain a lot of what is going on in the world, although the one topic he just glosses over and pretty much ignores is politics. Seems like he thinks that politics will be overrode by other forces. He may be right.
His presentations are customized to the interests of his audience, as any good paid presenter would do, but the underlying basis for all his predictions is the same look at history for since WW2 and his demographic based views on what will be happening, inexorably, in the major countries around the world in the next 50 years. The customization is his interpretation of how those events will affect the particular group who has paid him for his predictions of the future.
This is his optimistic version, about how the USA will be in probably the best shape of any country as the globalist system breaks apart, and there are huge dislocations in the world as we have known it. And it explains the Euro-energy problems (aside from their stupid green foolishness) and the Ukraine war, based on underlying, long term trends. This is a short 27 minute presentation, many of his paid presentations are an hour or more. And he has short commentaries, periodically, too. A bit self-impressed, I think, but still well worth paying some attention to. Yes, things will be going to hell, and nothing will stop it, but the USA will be in the best shape of pretty much any country during this time. Peter Zeihan .

I'm not as optimistic. WW II was a great upheaval, and for the better, but there was half a decade of misery and death before we got there.

Good article. As long as the current usurper is in charge, things will only get worse. Stock up on memories.

Long time no see, Sagman!
At this point, I don't even own a car. Sold mine up in New York back in May. Trying to see if I can actually do without. The Lady Chihuahua has a car, btw. One car, two people. Trying to see if that can work. It should. Many things are going to become luxuries instead of necessities.
At this point we are dealing with the consequences. It's going to take a lot to fix this.
Not sure we should call our government a government anymore. Many of our elected official aren't even interested in governing. Many more don't even have a clue. They are only out for themselves and only represent those that have bought them. This is where our representative government has led us. We elected these people. It's not working folks.
Our government is equal parts tyranny, corruption, and incompetence. Our 'government leaders' are stupid and dishonest. Just look at Biden, but don't ever forget 70+ million people voted for him. They never voted for the man. They voted for his policies. Saving the planet. Social justice. Free money. Free money? The country is 90 trillion in debt. Nothing is free. Save the planet? People come first. Social justice? Our government has to treat everyone equally. Open borders? Not when you do not have the resources needed for the influx.
Perhaps they need to teach economics and basic necessities in school and college instead of wokeism.

“… the Biden regime has admitted more than a million illegal immigrants since January of 2021…”
More than a million? I’ve been reading and hearing that it’s 5 million.
All of this lies at the feet of one man - Fidel TaliBiden. If he had not shut down oil production on Day One, none of this would be happening. WE could be supplying all of the fuel that Europe needs as well as having an excess here at home.
Thanks, demonrats.

The upheaval comes when your stuff doesn't work anymore. That happens because you don't take care.
My 2003 Nissan Z car bought new works just fine. It's been taken care of.
