The aces at the New York Times are indignant over the “torrent” of “vitriol unleashed on federal law enforcement officials” following the Mar-a-Lago raid. It’s as if the press corps has memory-holed the last six years of FBI history.Director Christopher Wray’s Federal Bureau of Investigation isn’t looking all that different from James Comey’s FBI. The bureau again faces questions over politicized agents and questionable investigations. Mr. Comey left a foundering ship, and it’s an open question whether the current leadership has the will or wherewithal to right it.

Mike Mansfield (D-Mont.) gave him the best advice he ever received: “Joe, never attack another man’s motive, because you don’t know his motive.” Judging from Biden’s increasingly belligerent speeches, he has forgotten Mansfield’s eminently wise counsel. This was rendered abundantly clear during his Thursday speech at Independence Hall in Philadelphia. Standing before a backdrop that looked as if it had been designed by Leni Riefenstahl, he attacked the motives of half the electorate.

Joe Biden’s speech at Philadelphia’s Independence Hall on Thursday was one of the most remarkable in living memory. By “remarkable,” I hasten to add that I do not mean “good.” On the contrary, it was a breathtaking act of what the psychoanalysts call “projection,” blaming others for the bad things you do yourself.
The speech itself was a malignant act of demagoguery that will have colonels and generalissimos everywhere catching their breath with envy. The neo-totalitarian stage set, replete with red lighting effects and military personal flanking the shouting, gesticulating Biden, was right out of central casting. Next time, perhaps Biden will wear epaulettes along with his signature aviators.
Since the Democrats achieved their governing trifecta in 2020, they have presided over a cascading series of domestic and foreign policy disasters while displaying transparent contempt for the Constitution. For the sake of the country, it’s imperative that some semblance of balance is restored to the elective branches of our government. The GOP must regain control of Congress in November. Accomplishing this will clearly require solidarity among Republican officials, the conservative commentariat, and the voters who endure Democratic policies. Above all, no circular firing squads.
I still think this is the likeliest Senate swing seat to go blue this fall. Dr. Oz’s favorability in numerous polls has been brutal and he’s too much of a squish to expect much by way of enthusiastic MAGA turnout. (Although getting to run on the same ballot as Doug Mastriano will help with that.) He’s also certainly going to be outspent before this race is done.

They eked out a two-point win in the former and lost the latter. Yet, the Democrats and their friends in the Fourth Estate hailed the NY-19 victory as a portent of doom for the GOP in November. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi declared, “Republicans should be very, very, very scared this morning about their prospects.” The lady doth protest too much, to quote the Swan of Avon.
Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom fired shots at Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis revealing he will give $100,000 to the Republican governor's midterm opponent in an effort to flip the red seat blue in the November election.
In a tweet posted by Newsom Thursday, the governor pledged the large donation to Rep. Charlie Crist, D-Fla., who recently won the Florida gubernatorial Democratic primary and advanced to the midterms where he will face DeSantis.
Newsom, who is also running for re-election this fall, made his objective with the donation clear. "Time to make Ron DeSantis a one-term governor," Newsom said.
