Just in case you needed yet another reason not to take the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) seriously, this story should suffice. The agency released a study on Friday recommending that people wear face masks, among other measures, to avoid catching monkeypox.
The problem? The precautions the CDC suggested do not line up with what the data shows about the spread of the illness.

It's a move that House Republicans should consider when they regain the majority in November, but will they do it? In the aftermath of the unlawful August 8 raid on Mar-a-Lago, the Republican Party has been united in its revulsion of what appears to be an unprecedented ransacking of a former president’s home. Presidents are, of course, almost always accessible in the event they are needed for official business while they’re on vacation, can make speeches, phone calls, send emails, etc., most anything they can do while at the White House.
But there’s a big difference between the supposed leader of the free world taking a break each summer for some downtime and one who is absent from the Oval Office for some “time away”

We’re all used to the “weird news” coming out of Florida. A woman arrested for shaving her private parts…while driving. A man so desperate for a ride to Hooters he calls 911 for help. Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon said he has the support of most voters and will continue to do the work of the people despite half a million verified signatures of those who want him removed.
Gascon spoke to the local Fox affiliate in his first public interview since a failed recall effort, saying the campaign to oust him was “water under the bridge” and that he will move forward with plans to keep the community safe.

A Milwaukee woman claims she was defending her children when she fatally shot an intruder who entered her home.
The mother of two, who asked to remain anonymous, said she was showering before work Monday morning when she heard her 12- and 14-year-old screaming from the living room, news station TMJ4 reported.
