The United States killed Al-Qaeda leader Ayman Al-Zawahri in a drone strike over the weekend, three people briefed on the operation told POLITICO.
The strike was conducted by the CIA, according to two of the people, with one saying it took place in Kabul. Al-Zawahri was an Egyptian who took over Al-Qaeda after the U.S. killed its longtime leader, Osama bin Laden, in 2011.
He never achieved the household name status of his predecessor, but Al-Zawahri’s killing is nonetheless a major win for the United States in the ongoing struggle against Islamist terrorism, especially as the United Nations warns that the terrorist group is outpacing its peers

So we’re openly admitting using CIA versus military assets to remove terrorists. I’m glad the dude is gone, but is this a move to help the CIA to be viewed more favorably by the public. When Trump took out Soleimani, using the military, the media and the left went nuts using assassinating as their only adjective. It was controversial etc.

Until I see it reported somewhere other than Politico I will take it with a grain of salt.

Joe bad-mouthed trump when he took out a terrorist. Let's see what Donald has to say after tonight's egotrip lap around the track with the checkered flag.

I get that the Democrats badly need Biden to take a victory lap over something, anything really. But clearly he is not running the country or leading the CIA. Always glad to kill another terrorist anyway.

#8's reply made me laugh. Apparently, for the cynics among us--who isn't?--the Taliban didn't want him around, either. The terrorist physician smelled of elderberries. FTA: "...(A)n air strike was carried out on a residential house in Sherpur area of Kabul city." The CIA could smell him and his b.o. from the street.

Having deserted Bagram Air Base (has it really been a year already?) and our network of Afghan allies all over the country, the logistics of this operation were no doubt much more challenging than they should have been.

Imagine how different everything would be now if they had just done stuff like this - kill the bad guys - instead of killing thousands of our troops and wasting trillions of dollars in nation-building in the sh!thole that is the middle east.

I don't believe Diaper Joe and our CIA could pull off a successful diaper change, much less take out one of the most protect terrorist in the world. The Israelis offed this thug. Israel doesn't want the world to know they did it. Diaper Joe and the CIA need to distract US citizens from their real 'accomplishments'. A win win. Israel has proven over and over they have the competence and courage to pull something like this off. Our CIA is super great at spying on domestic threats which is exclusively Rebublican politicians. Diaper Joe doesn't even remember he gave a speech last night.

This smells like the 0bama/Bin Laden gambit. Zawahiri became inconvenient to the Taliban, they made an offer to the Biden cabal. Something else was offered in return for taking him out. Like the Bin Laden killing we will never know.

Obama took out Osama in 2011...right before obama's election in 2012...even though theSeals said they were ready years before then...obama needed to wait till an election...I suspect this hit...by the CIA...that no one trusts.... is a political move...right before a very important election...sound familiar????

If killing the so-called leaders of these terrorist organizations worked, there would be no terrorist organizations. How many have been killed over the twenty years, yet we're still killing leaders.

No one has any proof, no one has claimed to have any proof, and no one has offered anything they have pointed to as proof.
Until this is verified, it is gaslighting. Pure and simple.
