President Joe Biden was involved in his son Hunter Biden’s business dealings at least 17 times over ten years, records from Hunter’s “laptop from hell” and reports show.
Though Joe Biden and his staff have claimed at least seven times that the president has not been involved in the family business, 17 pieces of evidence suggest Joe Biden has played an influential role in his son Hunter and brother James’s activities. Fifty-eight percent of voters believe that Joe Biden has played a role in his family’s business. Sixty percent say Hunter Biden has sold “influence and access” to the president.

After 11 years, students at George Washington University Law School will register for courses this fall with one notable difference: They will no longer be able to take a seminar with Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. The removal of Justice Thomas from the list of lecturers followed a cancel campaign that demanded the university ban him from classrooms. At 74, and looking at an upcoming term of major decisions, Thomas hardly needs the aggravation of such protests. However, his departure (even if temporary) is a great loss to students, the law school and free speech.

A Federal appeals court on Thursday ruled that a Catholic high school has the right to end its employment of a teacher who entered into a same-sex union in violation of church teachings.
The Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in Starkey v. Roncalli High School and Archdiocese of Indianapolis that religious schools have a constitutional right to choose who teaches their faith to the next generation.
The appellate court asserted that Lynn Starkey's role as a guidance counselor included ministerial duties, a ministerial exception under the First Amendment allowed the school to not renew her contract.

President Joe Biden plans to meet 'face to face' with Chinese President Xi Jinping at a future date, a senior administration official said Thursday following a fifth call between the two leaders.
The call comes at a time of deep tensions between the U.S. and China, with Beijing issuing warnings about a potential visit to Taiwan by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and China lining up with Russia even amid Moscow's war on Ukraine.
'President Biden has continually emphasized the importance of maintaining open lines of communication to ensure that the United States and China manage our differences and work together on areas of shared interest.

President Joe Biden on Thursday reminded Americans suffering from inflation and high gas prices that he sent them a check for $8,000 in 2021.
“There’s reason to be down but I started thinking about it … the first year, we were able with the rescue plan, we were able to send them a check for eight grand,” he said. “I mean a check. Beyond that by the way, there was more than that.”
The president spoke about the trillions he spent in the Democrat-passed American Rescue Plan during a conversation he had with his economic advisers on the state of the economy. His mention of the “$8,000 check” was likely a reference

Washington DC Mayor Muriel Bowser has requested the National Guard step in to help handle the arrival of thousands of migrants from the US-Mexico border, saying the nation’s capital has reached a “tipping point.”

In recent weeks, West Virginia has demonstrated incredible leadership in the fight to limit the administrative state’s ability to implement policies based on environmental, social, and governance criteria, a practice commonly referred to as ESG. The recent Supreme Court win in West Virginia v EPA challenges the ability of any federal agency to enact sweeping regulations without explicit Congressional authority. Following the decision, West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey wasted no time taking on the Biden administration’s effort to push its environmental agenda through the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

As we previously reported, the report issued Thursday by the Bureau of Economic Analysis shows the GDP shrunk 0.9 percent in the second quarter. Combined with the 1.6 percent drop in the first quarter, in the eyes of any economist who is not vying to be Joe Biden’s chief bootlicker that means the United States is officially in a recession.
The dreaded “R” word, as we’ve also noted, has been something the Biden administration from the top down has been trying to skate around in recent weeks in apparent awareness that this news was coming down the pike. We’ve seen administration officials from press secretary

The Republican Party seems to be learning the lesson that Donald Trump began teaching during his time in office.
That lesson is simple: Don’t play by the media’s rules and don’t try to win their approval. It’s not a game you’ll ever win, and Trump managed to have a largely successful presidency (in terms of many of its policies) being unencumbered by the whims of the media as other presidents have been in the past.
For reasons that escape many of us, there are Republican politicians who try to shape their statements, policies, and interviews around what the media wants to talk about or hear about. There are many Republicans

Democrats and establishment media outlets were mocked across social media on Thursday for attempting to redefine “recession,” as many pointed out that the far left has done the same with other words — such as “woman” — frequently redefining words to better suit their own political purposes.

Winston Churchill was a magnanimous man of exemplary character, yet Stanley Baldwin tested his limits. He held Baldwin responsible for Britain’s lack of preparedness to go to war with Germany when the crisis inevitably came, as Richard Langworth recounts. During the blitz, when informed that a German bomb had fallen on Baldwin’s house, Churchill quipped, “What base ingratitude.” When Baldwin died Churchill rendered judgment: “I wish Stanley Baldwin no ill, but it would have been much better had he never lived.”
Yesterday President Biden looked back on his bout with Covid and bragged about his putative accomplishments suppressing the epidemic. The White House has posted the transcript of Biden’s remarks here.

[snip] Health spending is always measured as a percentage of GDP to show how the U.S. spends “too much” on health care. But the following graph puts health care spending in better context: This graph, developed by blogger Random Critical Analysis, explains U.S. health care spending better than any other. It shows spending is appropriate when compared to household disposable income (HDI). Health care spending in the U.S. as a percentage of HDI is reasonable, as the shaded area shows.

Baghdad -- The followers of the influential populist Shiite cleric came by the thousands to storm Iraq's parliament. Just as quickly, the protesters dispersed at his command.
Mass mobilization and control is a well-worn strategy of Muqtada al-Sadr, a mercurial figure who has emerged as a powerful force in Iraq’s cutthroat political scene with a nationalist, anti-Iran agenda. Wednesday's storming of parliament came after al-Sadr's Tehran-backed political rival, former Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, nominated a pro-Iran politician to be Iraq's new leader.

But hey, many Democrats probably thought, maybe this poll is an outlier. It couldn’t be that bad, could it?Now comes a CNN survey showing that 75 percent of self-identified Democrats want someone other than the 46th president heading up their 2024 ticket. In May of this year, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis convened a grand jury to investigate Donald Trump’s phone call to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger in which Trump urged Raffensperger to “find votes” in order to shift Georgia’s presidential tally his way.
It’s never been terribly clear why Willis is doing this. Is she ambitious and using the investigation to make a name for herself? Is she using it as a springboard for some other employment or higher office? Or is she a true believer and thinks she can find a smoking gun to pin on the former president? It seems like a major waste of taxpayer money.

Defeating Wokeism isn’t merely a political, legal, or even cultural battle. We must also address what ultimately fuels Wokeness on a personal level: a delusional sense of moral superiority because it’s that moral superiority that is the vehicle for the left’s real power grab.
Are the Woke, in fact, morally superior? If you ask them, they certainly are. Their thinking seems to run something like this:
The world consists of people with different skin colors, genders, sexual orientations, etc. We are tolerant. The un-Woke aren’t. Therefore, we are morally superior.

WASHINGTON — Pope Francis is up to his old tricks again. He has banned the Latin Mass. Beginning this autumn, Roman Catholics will be greeted every Sunday — and for the truly devout, every day — with the modern post-Vatican II Mass. They will have no alternative. The Latin Mass has been put out of commission. Did you know it was divisive? I did not know that, but Francis knew it, and now he is banning it in a move that is meant, he says, to increase global unity.

The U.S. economy contracted in the second quarter of 2022 as the economy was battered by four-decade high inflation, record high fuel prices, soaring food costs, and tighter monetary policy.
The government reported Thursday that Gross Domestic Product shrank by 0.9 percent in the April through June period. Economists had expected the economy to grow by 0.3 percent, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The economy contracted by 1.6 percent in the second quarter. Many Americans consider two straight quarters of recession to be the marker of a recession. Economists, however, rely on the determination of the National Bureau of Economic Research to say when a recession starts.

There is perhaps no better example of gaslighting by today’s Democratic Party than when it comes to the issue of “Defund the Police.” In the aftermath of the death of George Floyd in the spring of 2020, the mantra was all the rage in leftwing, Democratic circles. Their media, their spokespeople, their elected officials – all of them – were singing the same song: Police are evil, the system is racist, and we need to put our tax dollars to use doing something else.
The movement never made any sense. Anyone who is old enough to remember the days of high-crime cities or who has watched movies like

Recruiting among the nation’s military branches is at historically low numbers as COVID, woke leaders and an anti-military culture are keeping young people away. President Biden’s debacle in Afghanistan is also sure to be on the minds of those thinking of joining up, with some wondering, “if the Commander-in-Chief won’t stand behind the military, who will?”
The Army National Guard and U.S. Army Reserve, meanwhile, in early July barred 57,000 troops from their duties and cut their pay and benefits. It’s no wonder people don’t want to serve.
“We are on the cusp of a military recruiting crisis,” Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-Wis.) told Politico, citing Covid, obesity among would-be recruits,

The US economy contracted for a second consecutive quarter, intensifying concerns that elevated inflation and waning demand could drag the country into a new recession. The economy's gross domestic product shrank at an annualized rate of 0.9% through the three-month period that ended in June, the Commerce Department announced Thursday in a preliminary estimate. Economists surveyed by Bloomberg expected growth to hit a 0.5% pace. The print reveals the economy continued to shrink after the 1.6% contraction observed in the first quarter.

The average 12-year-old student at a yeshiva has more wisdom than almost any student at Harvard or most other universities. (A yeshiva is an Orthodox Jewish school with an emphasis on religious studies. about half the school day is devoted to religious studies—taught from the original Hebrew sources.)

One of Hunter Biden’s former business partners referred to Joe Biden as “the Big Guy” in a panicked message the same day The Post broke news of the infamous laptop from hell left behind by the president’s son, The Post has learned.
James Gilliar, a former British Special Forces officer with ties to UK intelligence services, discussed The Post’s exclusive report with an unnamed person on Oct. 14, 2020, according to the message provided by a whistleblower to GOP congressional investigators probing the laptop.
In the message, Gilliar, 58, reassured the person that the revelations about Biden’s apparent involvement in his son’s foreign deals would not be damaging

Dozens of former Republican and Democrat officials have teamed up with Andrew Yang to join a third party, the Forward Party, which will launch on Thursday, according to a Reuters report.
The Forward Party announcement comes nearly one year after Yang announced his departure from the Democrat Party to develop a third party. Yang rose to prominence with his failed 2020 presidential run as a Democrat, where he promoted Universal Basic Income.
The Forward Party will be co-chaired by Yang and former Republican New Jersey Governor Christine Todd Whitman.
The new party is an amalgamation of three political groups that find themselves disgruntled with America’s increasingly polarized political system.

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas stepped down from his job as a law lecturer at George Washington University's as controversy over the decision to overturn Roe v. Wade rumbles on.
Thomas has been a lecturer at the school since 2011, but has now been removed as faculty from its website. His decision not to return to teaching comes in the wake of protests against conservative supreme court judges following the overturning of Roe v Wade in June 2022.
The school was hit by a petition calling for the removal of Thomas, with more than 11,000 signatories. But George Washington University is home to just 1,600 students, and bosses there defended Thomas,

Dozens of Republicans are sounding the alarm on President Joe Biden’s mental capabilities, stressing that he is not fit to run the country.
Led by Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-TX), more than 50 GOP members wrote a letter to Biden urging him to take a cognitive test.
“We again write to you to express concern with your current cognitive state and to urge you to submit to a cognitive test immediately. We believe that, regardless of gender, age, or political party, all Presidents should follow the example set by former President Trump to document and demonstrate sound mental abilities,” the letter reads.

The far-left daytime talk show “The View” may have gained another co-host over the last few days after former Mike Pence staffer Alyssa Farrah completed her grift for the job. But the show almost gained a lawsuit as well.
The backstory involves a series of delusional rants made by Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar on Monday regarding the recent TPUSA summit in Florida. In an attempt to trash Gov. Ron DeSantis, the two hosts claimed that TPUSA had let “nazis” into their conference and tried to draw a line between them and the Florida governor.
That was, of course, completely false, and was known to be false at the time.

As we reported earlier, word broke this afternoon that Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) had reached a deal with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer on a climate, health, and tax package deal, despite Manchin’s known aversion to spending more because of inflation. While this deal is far scaled down from the Build Back Better effort that Joe Biden had put forth, it’s still a big chunk of spending and I’m not sure how Manchin justifies it in his mind. It sounds like he’s buffaloing himself. “The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 will address record inflation by paying down our national debt, lowering energy costs

You’ve probably heard something by now about the horde of Californians who’ve been leaving the state and moving to states like Idaho, Oregon and especially Texas. Because of the high property values in California, these people often move into the nicest neighborhoods in their new city or town of choice. And because there are so many of these transplants they often drive up the local property values. That’s not always appreciated by the locals.
Today the LA Times reports there’s a similar problem in Mexico City where Americans, many of them from California, are fleeing not just their state but their country in order to take advantage of the much lower
