An online petition to have the Chiefs part ways with kicker Harrison Butker in the wake of his viral commencement speech has exceeded 180,000 signatures. “The harmful remarks made by Harrison Butker, kicker of the Kansas City Chiefs, during his commencement address at Benedictine College were unacceptable,” the petition’s organizer wrote. “His comments were sexist, homophobic, anti-trans, anti-abortion and racist.” There also is a place online for people to show their support for Butker. It’s a site called “From Field Goals To Family Goals: Harrison Butker Wins,” and apparently has ties to former Notre Dame football coach Lou Holtz.

Rowling, also 58, called Willoughby “just a man reveling in his misogynistic performance of what he thinks ‘woman’ means: narcissistic, shallow and exhibitionist.”

Mitch McConnell, the longest-serving Senate leader in history who maintained his power in the face of dramatic convulsions in the Republican Party for almost two decades, will step down from that position in November. McConnell, who turned 82 last week, was set to announce his decision Wednesday in the well of the Senate, a place where he looked in awe from its back benches in 1985 when he arrived and where he grew increasingly comfortable in the front row seat afforded the party leaders.

First son Hunter Biden made a surprise appearance Wednesday at a House Oversight Committee hearing where members were debating a resolution holding him in contempt of Congress. Hunter, 53, ignored the requests from the Oversight and Judiciary committees to sit for interviews Dec. 13 and instead gave a speech ripping Republicans leading an impeachment investigation of his father. The first son showed up with his lawyer Abbe Lowell and “sugar brother” Kevin Morris and sat in the front row of the hearing room. Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) tore into Hunter Biden for being the “epitome of white privilege”

Eleven-time NBA champion coach Phil Jackson has lost interest in the basketball league because it’s simply gotten too political. The former coach of the Chicago Bulls and the Los Angeles Lakers appeared on the “Tetragrammaton with Rick Rubin” podcast earlier this month and said he didn’t stop watching the game immediately after stepping away from coaching—it was the league’s woke messaging during the 2020 COVID lockdowns that turned him off.

Former Democratic presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard announced she left the Democratic Party on Tuesday, denouncing the organization as an "elitist cabal." Gabbard, who retired from the House of Representatives in 2021, attacked the institution in a nearly 30-minute video posted to her YouTube account. She did not announce plans to join the Republican Party or adopt any other political affiliation, however. "I can no longer remain in today’s Democratic Party that is now under the complete control of an elitist cabal of warmongers driven by cowardly wokeness, who divide us by racializing every issue & stoke anti-white racism," Gabbard said in an excerpt posted to Twitter.

Economists surveyed by Bloomberg expected growth to hit a 0.5% pace. The print reveals the economy continued to shrink after the 1.6% contraction observed in the first quarter.

Sen. Susan Collins said Tuesday she would vote to confirm Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court, the only Republican senator to do so so far. Collins, in an interview with The New York Times Tuesday, said that after a second, 90-minute interview with Jackson, she was assured that Jackson met her standards for serving on the nation’s highest court. If all Democrats also vote yes, Jackson would become the first Black woman on the court, fulfilling a promise made by Pres. Biden to nominate a Black woman to the court.
